  1. Maeda’s control problems cost him dearly, as did the weird drop by Simmons and the barehanded misplay by Arraez. He’s one of those guys that can pitch into the 7th routinely. Just not when you throw over 30 pitches in one inning
  2. Yeah honestly not a big fan of “use your best pitcher at any time you have a lead”. That’s how you end up with one of your weaker relievers in extra innings
  3. The runner on second rule should kick in later, like say the 12th.
  4. Twins starters will need to get past the FIFTH inning (can’t believe the bar is that low) or this team will struggle immensely. The bullpen is not trash but it will be gassed completely if they have to get 12+ outs every night. People complaining about depth but very few teams have 4-5 studs coming out of the pen. Very similar stuff happened last year in the shortened season. This is a modern problem across all of baseball, starters not lasting long enough. I assume maeda, Pineda and berrios could be guys that routinely go longer than 5, but happ and shoemaker? Oh boy. We did enough to win this game but not with the horrendous defense. I simply can’t fathom how a big league vet doesn’t know what base to throw to. Unreal.
  5. I’m not up on the prospects...do they twins have enough legitimate prospects currently in the system whom they could have contribute soon?
  6. Worst part is, you still have to watch 162 games to find out the same guys are still too scared to play in the postseason
  7. Time to see what we can get for some of our bigger names. This club has proven to be every bit the basket cases the other ones were. Maybe some new blood can lift this silverback gorilla off our backs. And Rocco gets one last chance. He’s been out coached in 5/5 playoff games.
  8. I couldn’t have been higher on buxton than when he went down and plunked one into the outfield and then stole a base. That should have led to a run. But the rest of his at bats were the bad Byron we saw for so long. Flailing wildly at pitches out of the zone. His at bat in the 5th turned the game around. Not bunting was the right call, but that was such a bad at bat it turned the game around
  9. I’m still sitting here trying to comprehend how polanco threw that ball away. Incomprehensible
  10. Best outcome matchup wise for the twins, outside of maybe Toronto. However, the tortured minnesota fan in me sees a team under .500 qualify for the playoffs for the first time ever and gets awfully nervous. We haven’t been favored in a postseason in a while. Need to break the long losing streak. Thankfully avoided the yankees
  11. Maybe the reds will be too hungover from celebrating to show up tomorrow. Twins could still drop as low as the 6 spot.
  12. Would not be at all shocked to see buxton miss the first round. Surely won’t see him the rest of the weekend.
  13. Tank to avoid yanks
  14. Blue jays in free fall mode, they won’t pass the Yankees. Boston blows a late 4 run lead over NY and is now in extras. Cleveland won and is two back of us. Never been ok with our team losing out but you’d be a fool to want anything else at this point
  15. Yanks have now put up 42 runs in 20 innings in their series against the team closest to them (Toronto). Maybe they’re peaking too early lol
  16. Toronto trails the Yankees, the rays are ahead in their game...it’s all coming together folks
  17. And it happens on an almost nightly basis. Absurd that modern day pitchers can not get through 5 without throwing nearly 100 pitches. Ruining the game for me (as a lifelong pitcher)
  18. Thank god donaldson’s ejection fired up the fellas. They managed to fumble through the last few innings with more gusto than usual!
  19. It's becoming very obvious that the twins will need to win the division in order to avoid playing the Yankees yet again. NY is 3 back of Tampa with 11 to play, none against the rays. The odds of them winning the east are minimal. Cleveland is tanking and will not finish ahead of the twins. The jays could possibly leapfrog the yankees as they still face them 5 times, but have just been outscored 33-8 in the last two days in NY. Today's game is a must win if we have any designs on winning the central and thus avoiding another humiliation at the hands of the hated yankees.
  20. Really poor display the first two games. Kiss the division bye bye if we don’t salvage one of the next two
  21. there's a team in NY that's starting to heat up...whatever the twins have to do to avoid playing that team is what I want to see them do. division winner or not
  22. All I want to do is buy quick books all of a sudden
