  1. Right, but we’re talking about sports only. What kind of following do the lynx and men’s ice hockey have on a national level? Even on a regional level? I can’t imagine anyone thinking a lynx or gophers title would carry even remotely the same weight as a vikings Super Bowl or a twins World Series win. 118 seasons is a long time to come up short. Heck, we haven’t even had a team PLAY for a title in that time frame. That’s bad bad bad. Especially when you consider the randomness of postseason play in baseball. Look what the 84 win dbacks are doing. You’d think we’d luck in to one at some point
  2. Women’s basketball and college hockey are niche sports, cmon now be serious. The frozen four final got 800,000 viewers last year in prime time. the first round of the MLB playoffs averaged 2.25 million viewers last week with teams playing during work hours Lol who wants teams to move? I just want one of them TO WIN. It’s not some outrageous expectation over 30+ years 😂
  3. I’m not mad at the twins for the Vikings failures, I’m simply pointing out that the MSP metro area now has the longest championship drought by seasons of any city in the US or Canada. Twins are responsible for 1/4 of that drought. 118 seasons, that’s a lot of coming up short. The lynx and gopher hockey are niche sports. You’re not being honest if you’re trying to claim they carry the same impact in general.
  4. It’s relevant if you’re a fan of any of those teams. Picking the 4 major sports franchises in the same metro area is hardly random
  5. They’re not equally as relevant stop it lol
  6. No there was nothing he could really have done about it. The SS was playing behind him and closer to the bag in the exact correct spot for a DP. He was cooked unless he immediately dove back to second in contact
  7. He watched it most of the way to first. Hard to say if he could have gotten a triple IMO. The line out DP was not his fault. It was hit in the exact worst spot for a baserunner.
  8. Watching Arizona finish off the sweep of LA, the playoffs are such a crapshoot and not really indicative of who the better team is. Arizona finished 16 games behind the dodgers. Are they actually a better team since they swept? Looking like the Astros will be the only team that had a bye to advance to the LCS. Of course
  9. 100 million to one. Pretty much unanimous opinion amongst hitters that you need to see live pitching consistently. Last real game for him was weeks ago and that was weeks after his injury. And to face abreu? I mean my goodness talk about a big ask. Not that it would have mattered but I think a MAT bunt would have had equal chances of success
  10. The buxton thing was wild. Expecting to catch lightning in a bottle going against a guy who hadn’t allowed a run since July. I mean what were the odds that was going to work? I guess they figured the odds were better than letting MAT hit, which doesn’t say very much at all for him
  11. In no way am I suggesting a different outcome would have occurred, but was it not curious to have waited to bring paddack in after Ryan since he had the ability to throw the longest? He basically went 3 innings and probably could have gone longer with how well he pitched
  12. As bad as the offense has been, I’m stunned they couldn’t do more against urquidy after that first inning. I mean, the guy was on cruise control.
  13. I mean, it wasn’t great Saturday either. Got us into a 5 run hole we didn’t climb out of Berrios is a much better pitcher than Joe Ryan though. What the jays did was idiotic. My point was that there wasn’t much faith in either ober or Ryan (and maeda for that matter) to let them start a playoff game without a minuscule leash.
  14. I followed them when I was younger but lost interest in basketball in general. If either the wolves or wild won a title it wouldn’t mean a whole lot to me at all
  15. There must be changes. The fact is that we don’t have enough trust in anyone to start a third playoff game. You could almost skate by with that in a 5 game series but imagine a 7 gamer when we didn’t even have enough faith for Joe Ryan to get 9 outs today
  16. The better team won for sure. But I take little solace when I look at what the rangers did and what the dbacks are about to do. Arizona is 15 outs away from their 3rd NLCS appearance in 26 seasons of existence. No one would argue Arizona is a better overall team when they finished 16 games behind LA in the regular season. But they’ve gotten red hot and have largely embarrassed the dodgers. But here we are, now at 64 seasons of championship-less ball between the twins and Vikings (who will make it 65 in a few weeks). Happy to have reset the streak(s), but when will it be our turn to win it all?
  17. All the rah rah stuff doesn’t resonate too much with me when the 84 win diamondbacks are about to go to their 3rd NLCS in their 26th season. We’ve been to one in that time frame. Would anyone say they’re a better team overall than milwaukee? The dodgers?
  18. I think that’s now 64 seasons between the twins and Vikings without a championship. I don’t care about the wolves or wild. Vikings will make it 65 real soon
  19. How do you take the momentum of beating the defending champs on the road, come home and do absolutely NOTHING with it. Played more loose on the road. Swallowed coal and crapped diamonds both games with those tight you know whats
