Justin fields has had less than 60 yards passing in 4 games this season. They’ve had 9 runs on their opening drive, 2 passes and 1 was by a wide receiver. I knew he wasn’t a great quarterback but yeesh

Big difference, if McCarthy fails there is a very good chance that people will be getting fired considering they went all in on him instead of darnold or someone else. I’d bet a month’s wages he’s going to get more than 12 games.

McCarthy is presumably going to get next season to show what he has. If he’s not it, the Vikings will be looking for a quarterback in 2027 as well.

Easier financially, but it’s not easy to find someone putting up top ten numbers. If it were, teams like the browns and jets wouldn’t be the browns and the jets.

Would you switch places with GB as far as their current QB situation? We talk a lot on here about how few competent QBs there are in the NFL today. We don’t know yet if the Vikings have one. Early returns not great on McCarthy. Yes he doesn’t have the big contract, but if he doesn’t work out we are in huge trouble.

Idk if that’s fair to say. It was his worst game of the year but he’s still top ten in most statistical categories. Had a higher qbr than darnold last year too.

Only watched the first half of last nights game which I think was 5-3 at halftime. And this 3-0 game in the 4th. Couple of snoozers. Bad week for nfl primetime games

You’re not wrong in a way, but if JJM is going to struggle with the weapons and coaching we have, maybe it will be apparent sooner that he’s not the guy than if he were on a terrible team. What stinks is that our coach keeps putting a ton on his shoulders and not helping him by getting away from the run game.

Everyone learns at a difference pace though. Yes some of the great ones get it right away but some don’t. Only 4 games played at NFL speed is nothing. Look at Caleb Williams, he was a bottom 3 or 4 QB last year. Now he’s middle of the pack and getting better. I know some fans were dying to go the route of drafting and developing a QB instead of continuing to sign FA’s. Well I guess this is what it is. It’s amazing if you get a Drake Maye (****ing lucky patriots) but you could also get a cam ward or someone who’s talented but can’t stay on the field like Daniels. It’s largely a crapshoot with some luck thrown in. And not everyone is a winner. You do have to have patience with some guys. Unfortunately the Vikings can’t crack the top 3 worst teams in the league to draft a higher talent. They’d have to pull off a twins like fire sale and decimate their roster for several years.
