  1. Living in MD suburbs of DC--I do get to both parks. Nationals Park is sterile--not a bad park--no history--nothing outstanding--area around it is also nothing. I am in the minority of prefering old Memorial Stadium (a real ball park) to Camden Yards. But of the new generation of parks Camden Yards is one of the best (I have never been to Target Field). Very history conscious with scoreboard and other stuff and warehouse in RF background. The ball flies--so you dont see too many pitchers duels. Boogs BBQ is best pregame lunch/snack in the world and Boog is always there. Citizen's Bank in Philly is also a bit sterile--but outside the park they do the best job I have seen with pix and info going back to Connie Mack (stadium--I went there in college) and manager. Not located in the nicest area of Philly...
  2. I think Hughes should be given a shot at 2B and Casilla at SS. Carroll at UT. Dozier in Rochester. Revisit on June 1--if Dozier ready bring him up and play him at SS and see who is better at 2B Casilla or Hughes. (Advance June 1 date if injuries require).
  3. I think for OF defense and CF back up to Spam who is vulnerable to post concussion syndrome--Revere has to be on Twins roster. I do not see a roster scenario without Revere. If Parmalee makes roster he has to play everyday so either Morneau is DH or Parmalee is RF which I doubt. Bottom line if Parmalee makes roster Doumit becomes only catcher...not sure Gardy will be on board with that.
  4. I hope Dozier spends at least the first 2 months at Rochester gaining AAA experience and giving the Twins another year of him being under control. During the same two months--Casilla gets last shot at being a regular. If it works Carroll becomes utility, if it doesnt work, bring up Dozier and make Casilla utility.
  5. I voted for Rayburn--as a proxy for Miggy who will end up being the DH for Tiggers... Butler is good, so is Pronk, I think Dunn is done.
  6. Miggy will not be playing 3rd base long--and when he does it will be an adventure--I can see teams bunting on him every day. Cant vote him at 3B.
  7. JC-- I wish I could be as confident as you in Liriano and Casilla--I dont hold much hope for either--they have had many chances already...Casilla even if he hits seems to have those moments on the field that cause us all to cringe...I just dont think Liriano (even though he has the best stuff of Twins pitchers can put it together)...I do agree with you on Valencia...I am looking for a big season from him. By the way, since you go back to the Bat Girl days like me--do you miss her and do you know if she is blogging anywhere?? DAM
  8. Mauer needs to play less than 100 games at catcher to stay healthy!!! Therefore I voted for Santana.
  9. I agree with "why didnt"--what a bunch of ick. I went with Beckham just cause I think he has biggest upside. If I was GM and this was my choice--I would go to the waiver wire and pick somebody else. I cant understand why the Twins keep giving Casilla a shot, and let him keep failing...move Carroll to 2B and play Nishi at SS.
  10. How could I forget--The Dome...actually two domes...Skydome in Toronto and HHH Metrodome. Also Bowie MD for minor leagues.
  11. I may be older than most of you...in order from when I was a kid: Ebbets Field Polo Grounds Old Yankee Stadium Connie Mack (a real dump) Shea Old Memorial Stadium (in Baltimore I actually like it more than Camden Yards) RFK Stadium (but for DC United) Fenway The Vet in Philly Dodger Stadium (one of the best) Three Rivers Kauffman Stadium (probably the best) Oakland Coliseum Atlanta Fulton County Stadium Fenway Wrigley Comiskey (the new one now called US Cellular--probably the worst) Camden Yards Citizen Bank (I think thats the name of newest Philly stadium) Nationals Stadium Minor League games in Frederick MD, Chattanooga, Greensboro NC, Prince William VA, Hagerstown and a few others I forget now. A few spring training games in FLA (Port St. Lucie, West Palm and Vero Beach--the best place to watch a game.)
  12. I dont think Mauer can get to double digits in HR unless he plays less than 100 games at C. If he plays mostly at C, he will get tired (at best) injured (at worst). Time to move Mauer to 1B and Morneau to DH.
