  1. I believe this is a crucial at bat.
  2. Has anyone ever seen a fielder drop a fly ball in foul territory because there was no chance to throw out a runner tagging at third? And take their chances on the next pitch? I never have, but perhaps it has happened. Does this count as an exciting questions??!!
  3. Has anyone noticed how quiet it is in here?
  4. 2 great defensive plays by Orioles, one major flub by the Twins. G-r-a-t-e!
  5. It was a good bunt. In fact, he followed a first effort off. They were giving it to him, and he took it. Excellent.
  6. cinnamon, in fact. Put it the oven for 40 games, and watch it become a big roll? (I really need to learn to proof read.)
  7. The Twins are more like a mini-roll. A very very small roll. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yVjcUfSAoII/Ulhqe2bfcHI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/dc_yoUc-Huc/s1600/cinnamonrolls1.png
  8. As far as dWAR goes the last two years Suzuki has rated +.04 and +.05, while Wieters has rated -.01 and .02. By that calculation Suzuki is a much better defensive catcher which is surprising to me. But wouldn't you take a chance on Wieters over Suzuki as a hitter who might come at a reasonable rate for 2016?
  9. I think a 86-76 record will easily make the second wild card spot. To do that the Twins would need to go 25-15. (.625). With each loss the possibility of such a scenario shrinks substantially at this point in the season, of course. It would be like a walk home grand slam in the 9th when you were down by 7. It can be done, but rarely is.
  10. I've got add a Wilson Ramos comment. His OPS is .606, and last year it was .698. Not the offensive juggernaut Twins fans had thought we had frittered away. (Suzuki's OPS is this regressed year is .613, so there you go.) On defense, however, he is apparently quite good. E.g. his caught stealing rate is 40% over the last two years. _______________ Maybe Wieters, because he's been injured the past two years, will take an inexpensive one-year deal to try get his game back before cashing in on a longer deal, and then, who knows, the Twins may land him. He turns 30 late next May.
  11. Their odds after two wins has risen to 5%, so let's get our irrational hopes right! Also, right now, the Orioles odds of making the WC are 18.5, so if the Twins beat them today and tomorrow, my god the baseball world will be on edge!
  12. Regarding Torii Hunter, one of the Baltimore announcers asks, "How long can you leave him in?" I have harped on this for awhile, but I can't see Torii starting the last 40 games of the year. He has to pull himself (with Molitor's approval and/or nudging) very soon. (When Hicks gets back?)
  13. That seems kind of low. What's your source?
  14. Well, it's not because Escobar has had a lot of at bats against Chen (just 0-2). Perhaps it's because Nunez is 4-11 with two doubles. Who knows?
  15. That Buxton kid seems pretty skinny yet http://stmedia.startribune.com/images/buxtonChildhood.jpg
  16. The Twins motto? "And so on ... out."
  17. Gene Glynn - who is he anyway, and what he did do to become our third base coach? He is from Waseca. A local boy. Short bus ride home, Gene.
  18. I have gone away. Hope the Twins come back.
  19. The problem with this game, even more than the Twins "troubles" and the Yankees "hate factor" is that is is 11:51 a.m. in Arizona.
  20. It looked like he pulled his hamstring (mildly?) after running through first base.
  21. So I'm still tuned in. Had to see Sano bat. Saw a good inning. Question: How has Sano looked at third base today?
