  1. Okay, gameday's acting up as usual. Got the "single" sign and then the ads popped in. Did we really pull Nolasco already? Don't tell me he got hurt.
  2. Well, I guess we're putting Nolasco to the real test today. If he can't lead the Twins to a series win vs the White Sox, then I guess we'd better mark all the rest of his games this season as losses. While I was mad about Milone at first, it's honestly a lot better than moving him to the BP. The Twins are kind of stuck between a rock and a hard spot now because of Nolasco's contract. I wish the A's would volunteer to take him. Especially if they were kind enough to throw in another pitcher like Milone. But they're smart enough to play moneyball. Or maybe we'll find a tumor on Ricky's neck. Or maybe he'll find a new pitch like Pelf.
  3. Molly is still experimenting. Either he's trying to be a genius and isn't quite succeeding, or else he knows he's not a genius and is going to try every possible variant until one works out. Hope it doesn't take too long.
  4. Goodness, where have you been?! My initial response was more like, "Again? What won't they do?" Come on, if it gets so bad that they can't even allow fans to go to baseball games, I think that that's a pretty good sign that it's out of control. And don't forget why O.J. got off.
  5. Well, as long as he hangs on I don't care what he put it up for.
  6. Oh, yes. These will become known as Jerr&always33 Updates, I suppose.
  7. I'm listening. Did he put up his glove?
  8. And they leave their 5th batter of the game. I'm going to have to keep track of that for Circus Boy.
  9. Loaded the bases so Hawk could say, "And the White Sox leave two," sadly. Not sadly to me. In a sad voice.
  10. You know, I think I'm really great at reading people. When I saw that post by Ashbury, I just had this sneaking suspicion. Now don't tell me that you are the liar or I will never hear the end of it.
  11. Wow. Just wow. Don't moms have the right to train up their kids in the way they should go anymore? She did that because she loved him. She wants to protect him. She used violence not as a way of "peacefully" protesting, but as an on-the-spot correction. And now this: Child Protective Services Launch Investigation On Baltimore Mom Who Hit Son
  12. Ah yes, and the music that accompanies them as they run round the bases is the most beautiful in all of the wide, wide world of baseball: Sue Nelson playing her version of Hava Nagila to show her solidarity with Israel. Oh, and we all (except ChiTown) have one goal today: Go Twins. Go Wild. Go every Minnesota team except the South St Paul Steers. (They're playing Mahtomedi.)
  13. No, it should never get to this point. And the kids should be controlled. I understand that some parents are upset, but I feel like the media is encouraging the kids in their immature behavior, at least to some extent. I feel sorry for their parents. Now, these kids should be taught that if they want to drive a point home, they need to seek their audience's respect. Nobody became the President of the United States because they were a gun-slinging, home-burning, small-business-destroying liberal brat. I also believe that the same goes for cops. Personally, I have a very high regard for police since the department in my area is truly phenomenal. I could give some examples, but that's not for this thread. I wish that all police officers would behave in a mature, professional manner. Then instances like the Michael Brown case wouldn't escalate unnecessarily and police like Darren Wilson wouldn't have to go through what he had to. If everyone was like Darren, then there would only be a few police shootings in extreme and necessary circumstances. Once again, if people would behave, then their likelihood of being shot by a police officer would be very, very low, regardless of their color. Now I know we don't live in a perfect world, but I think that people need to learn that they can't justify their bad behavior with another person's bad behavior. And I think that I (and other people) have every right to say what we think - on a mature level. Don't worry, I'm not accusing you of thinking that I don't have that right; you have been very polite to me. But I know that there are a lot of people who will be reading this thread, whether they are members or nonmembers, and I want them to know my opinion. Well, I guess this is my form of peaceful protesting.
  14. Might I add that just taking into consideration that most white people are okay with the rioting is ample evidence against the statements about the violence being necessary? Also, there are plenty of white people rioting as well as blacks. I'll repeat once and for all, there are good African Americans and there are bad. There are good Caucasians and there are bad. There are good cops and there are bad. Might I stereotype them all and say - There are good people and there are bad people.
  15. Of course not. Everyone is aware of the fact that there are colored cops. But when they say "All white cops are bad," they are stereotyping - exactly what they are protesting against. Hmm.
  16. Whether he is worse or not (and that is an opinion), it has nothing to do with this discussion and is not a legitimate comparison. They have nothing to do with each other.
  17. Just because the percentages varied in one city doesn't mean that the police force is prejudiced. Maybe there weren't as many blacks who tried to become police. So I disagree with you on that one. The main thing is that there were indeed African Americans on the Ferguson police force, and they were targeted in the riots along with the whites. Another thing that disgusts me is that the protestors were especially targeting people of Hispanic and oriental ethnicity. While I agree with you that there are bad cops, you can't stereotype all police, and that is what is happening. Now, there are plenty of bad African Americans, but you can't stereotype all African Americans based on a small percentages' actions. I would never do that. There are plenty of bad Caucasians. I don't think of blacks in a different light than I think of whites. I believe that all men are created equal, and therefore all men should have equal opportunities. That said, these issues got plenty of coverage before the rioting. Also, is the rioting making the general populace think better of blacks than they used to? Hardly. If anything, the rioters' immature behavior is creating a lot of disrespect all over the country (if not world), and while I don't disrespect blacks in general, I have a hard time feeling respect for these "peaceful protestors" who are making trouble for themselves as much as they are for whites. I didn't mean to get this into political discussions here, but since you replied to me I feel like it's my duty to go on record and say what I believe. And don't get me wrong. I'm not stereotyping colored people. I just think that the rioters (and notice that I say "rioters," not "blacks," as some people will have it) are out of control and aren't helping matters at all.
  18. I did about 100 photos of Joe trying to get #7, and this is all I came up with:
  19. So is it the ‪#‎HowOldRobot‬ or the ‪#‎WhatNumberDoIWearRobot‬?
  20. You mean they adore him and laugh at him all day long? That's pretty hard for me to imagine. But then they are WS fans, and the WS aren't much different than Hawk, so maybe that's their style.
  21. Good call. You are obviously more cautious than I. Also, I gave a try at your idea and it was...well...interesting. It requires an elite memory and lots of patience. It took me so long to read one post while playing a relatively simple passage (peppered with errors) that I do believe it would have been faster to do it separately. Well, since the game is over and I've been "playing" longer than usual, I guess I can stop. Hurray!
