  1. Revere played in the Metrodome in 2011. Where was I? Must not be a big fan.
  2. I love you. First ballot HOFer and all the skeptics will turn on the induction ceremony and say how fortunate they were to witness one of the best players to play the game. "folks need to understand that Mauer is DAMN good ... and players who are DAMN good get paid."
  3. I would never stop following them, I would keep my fandom to myself if they were 0-161 going into the last game. I also dislike (read: f-ing hate) reading about all the negative comments and complaints about our favorite 9, so when I visit this amazing site, I read the articles but don't read the comments because my face gets Gardy-like. I will never leave the bandwagon and as we go through our down years in the cycle I will continue gamedaying and screaming at the screen/yelling at the radio, etc.
  4. And you're the guy who is b****ing and complaining when he would've left the Twins to play with a team that would pay him what he is worth. He's the best hitting catcher that will ever play the game. The contract is signed and there's no changing it. He deserves the money, so cheer for him. Even better: stop complaining about him and complain about the terrible pitching staff thus far. #gt
  5. Considering WAR refers to wins above replacement, or games that a particular player has won that a AAA player would not have. Since the 2011 Twins had multiple AAA players and a handful of AA players, to have a WAR above 0 is remarkable. #GT
  6. Liriano will have a year comparable to Johan Santana in 2006.
  7. I have visited 3 stadiums: The Metrodome, Target Field and Miller Park. Miller Park is my favorite. When I get the chance I would like to visit: Citizens Bank Ballpark AT&T Park Oriole Stadium at Camden Yards Coors Field among the rest...
  8. I would bet my first born son that the Twins will have a better record than the Chicago White Sox....Here's why: The White Sox lost Ozzie Guillen, Carlos Quentin, Mark Buehrle and Juan Pierre. The best player they gained was Kosuke Fukudome. They have Jesse Crain in the pen, and their fans feel the same as we felt about him (6 Blown Saves last season). Their bullpen is worse than ours. AND the Twins will be healthy-er (knock on Maple). Prediction: Twins 80-82, White Sox 70-92
  9. Great point sln, and let's not forget this is the same reason we have come to love the Twins in the first place: taking a low payroll bunch of no-namers and playing fundamentally sound baseball to win games and go to the playoffs. This 2012 season has a great chance of this typical Twins Way team turning some heads. Go Twins
  10. 2 MVP's since 2006 Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, Michael Cuddyer and Jason Kubel all developed into good (or great) MLB hitters as Twins under their coaching. They also made guys like Alexi Casilla, Lew Ford, Nick Punto, Jason Bartlett and Christian Guzman be able to survive at the ML level and get on base. They've made the playoffs in 6 out of the past 10 years. I have no problem with their hitting coaches/players/style of play. HOWEVER, They have averaged being ranked 8th in the AL (14 teams) for slugging % in the past 10 years and 10th in HRs. I prefer the "get him on, move him over and get him in" type baseball or "The Twins Way," but I know I am in the minority. For those of you who want more power, is the power problem the coaches, players or front office?
  11. 25. 8 to RF, 7 to CF and 10 to LF. 2 walk offs and 1 grand slam. Check back in October.
  12. I agree with this line-up and by reading it, I am becoming more optimistic and excited to watch. I hope all the 'what ifs' happen and we surprise some teams just like Denard said.
  13. Imagine if you told Johnny Bench, Yogi Berra, Roy Campanella and Carlton Fish to NOT block the plate. Those guys guarded the plate with their life and they had decent careers (all HOFers). Joe is a BIG dude and he has blocked the plate very well in his career. Whatever you can do to give your team the best chance of scoring a run (runner) or preventing a run (catcher) is necessary and is what I want to see players on my team do. If that means run someone over or block the plate, great. These players are ALWAYS at risk getting hurt every minute of every day, for example: Zach Grienke sidelined for injuring his ribs playing basketball!
  14. @Storm, Mauer is 9th among active catchers in CS% with 35.23% and he has 3 Gold Gloves. I agree with Seth Stohs and TwinsFarinMaryland, however, the pitchers need to do their part on not giving up runs. Liriano needs to throw strikes, Carroll needs to be steady at SS, otherwise I feel we are above-average defensively (barring injuries). You guys covered it above, I'm feeling optimistic and saying the twins will win 79-81 games and will be fun to watch, at times. There is almost no way the Tigers will not win the AL Central and the Twins would have to win 90-92 games to win the Wild Card, so making the playoffs is all-but-out of the equation. If we win more than 75 games and have less health concerns with our "star" players AND have an emergence of a young pitcher/position player, it will be a success. I am excited to follow ST and am really excited to watch until the Tigers pull away. Terry Doyle is the answer...
