  1. Let's hope the starting pitching doesn't get even worse.
  2. Longoria playing back and refusing to play in.
  3. Anyone else think that the Twins are doing it with mirrors so far? I mean other than runs scored and OBP, there really isn't much to indicate this team is a .500 team.
  4. It's not just that he was off for 2 months...he was off because of a concussion. His bat may not be right because his brain may not be right.
  5. Concussion like symptoms?
  6. No. He usually starts slow and one of the K's was on a pitch 6 inches outside. I'm finding that the umps are really having a tough time figuring out the strike zone early and so are the batters.
  7. Good news - we have 4 guys in the lineup all hitting over .300 and none of them are named Joe Mauer. Bad news - we have 4 guys in the lineup all hitting under .200 and none of them are named Joe Mauer.
  8. Bartlett to the DL and Hermann up. Makes sense. I like. Guessing there will be a rehab assignment that follows.
  9. I've been pretty vocal about the Bartlett thing as soon as it was clear he would make the team. You really can't keep a guy on the team for being a "clubhouse guy". Hire him as a bench coach then. Hindsight is 20/20, but it sure would be nice to have an outfielder instead right now. Alex Pressley? He had the speed, his batting average couldn't be any worse, oh wait...he's on another team. They could have sent Bartlett to the minors with no risk of losing him. OK, down from the soapbox...go Twins!
  10. OK, so we found out we can hit bad pitching. Actually, I found more to be encouraged about than I would be if I were a Chicago fan. I think our bullpen will improve, not so sure theirs will. I like to see Cola, Arcia, Plouffe, Hicks all swinging the bat well. That's a good sign. Our defense is not looking sharp...and neither is theirs. Now let's see how we do against a better quality team.
  11. Never a dull moment with these guys. Well, we gave one away and we stole one. Guess it evens out.
  12. Another reason for the Chicago fans to drink.
  13. If I were a Sox fan, I would be drinking too. Let's face it, this is Dumb and Dumber...Worse and Worser...Putrid and Putrider...you get the idea. Both of these teams stink, stank, stunk. If Chicago starts off 3-0, only the most dilusional fan will think that they are good...or possibly the drunkest which explains the drinking.
  14. Pretty sure the ball will come out of his hand really nice too.
  15. I don't think I'm giving away any secrets that this team will be offensively challenged this year. After all, we've scored somewhere in the bottom 2 or 3 teams in all of spring training this year. Given that. Wouldn't you want your bench to have as much pop as possible? Granted, there aren't many great options, but surely, Parm offers more offensively than Bartlett. Well, I'll still watch, but I sure won't pay to go watch.
  16. You think these guys got to AAA with questionable work ethic? Not saying that they would light it up, but surely they have a brighter future than Bartlett. Granted, Parm has been given his shots, but this just looks like a good ol' boy gift. Hey, we should bring back Delmon Young too when he gets cut. That way we could almost undo that awful trade!
  17. What kind of a message does this send to the guys struggling to make it to the big leagues? When a guy that didn't play ball last year comes into ST, starts off 0-23 and and finishes with some pathetic batting average and still makes the team, it sends the following message: what you do in ST doesn't matter. it's a good ol' boys club and if you aren't in the club, your going back down to the minors.
  18. Kubes struck out twice again today. ST BA is down below the mendoza line. The question I have is how long of a leash will the Twins organization give him if this continues into the regular season? 1 month? 2 months? I see no point in watching an aging veteran DH and bat .200. Might as well let a young guy do that and learn rather than someone on the downside of their career. Then again, there's Willingham sporting the .056 average. <heavy sigh>.
  19. Well, Konerko may actually make sense on our team given our lack of offense, need of a DH, and a legitimate backup for Mauer. Kubel won't add anything on offense above Cola or Parm.
  20. I agree. Where they are in our organization doesn't mean they would rank anywhere near there in another organization. To me, was anyone going to pick up Kubel? No. Not after his last year and he hasn't torn the cover off the ball in ST. However, we gave him a spot on the team. Parm looks to be the odd man out even though I would take him over Kubel at this point just because of upside. Interestingly enough, Chicago is in the same situation. They are in full rebuilding mode...and yet they resigned Konerko to put butts in the seats while they are forced to send players to the minors who deserve the spot on a rebuilding team.
  21. http://www.southsidesox.com/2014/3/24/5541048/white-sox-roster-matt-davidson-service-time-conor-gillaspie-jordan-danks-konerko One of the most honest and entertaining columns about spring training cuts that I have read all spring. Good to know it isn't just the Twins that leave fans scratching their heads.
  22. I know it's only spring training, but this team has scored 18 runs in the last 7 games. That's all I see from this lineup on a regular basis. To put it in perspective, Justin Verlander pitching every day for this team wouldn't go .500.
  23. I agree. As I look at the roster and the options to pick from, it all adds up to a long season no matter who makes the team and who gets send down/released.
  24. [h=2]Worley says wind affected his pitches.[/h]Well, I guess I would buy it...if the guys that came after him had the same issues. Note to self: When I have a bad day at work, don't blame exterior factors, even if the exterior factors did come into play. Just take my lumps and say that I didn't make the necessary adjustments to succeed.
