At this point with the news that he is already the Cubs manager before the job is even available it would seem the Twins had zero shot and probably already knew it. I don't think Maddon opted out without some at least off the record plans in motion.

I used iPad last year but would likely use the new iPhone 6+ this year. Screen is large enough now.

Not cheaper for sure. All of the games have been in HD on DirectTV for years. I have bounced between MLB.TV and Extra Innings. I settled back to Extra Innings because of the DVR and because the picture is consistent and great. I did miss being able to stream the game from my computer while working however. So this is a nice benefit for me personally to have it both.

I could not agree more. I would love to see a study done on this topic in pro sports. Does cycling through coaches quickly for not producing result in better, worst, or the same results as a team who is not quick to fire? I really haven't seen proof that it helps. For example many bad teams continue to be bad as they fire coach after coach. Where as a very successful franchise like the Steelers in the NFL stick with the coaches they hire. It took Coward years of failure in the playoffs to finally win a Super Bowl. Many franchises would have canned him. To me firing the coach is more of a response to the outcry of fans. Which I find very odd that people will scream so adamantly for quality people to be fired.

I have been lurking on this forum since day one and have really enjoyed the forum. Been a Twins fan since I was a little kid growing up in Colorado (parents from Minnesota). I am now raising my own little empire of Twins fans in Colorado. We have followed the Twins via MLB Extra Innings or MLB TV over the years. Additionally because of work travel I am able to watch a few games live every years. I know the last few years have been rough, but I see a very bright future for the franchise in the coming years. How bright will ultimately depend on the development of young starting pitching. I am excited about the coming year as it should be a transition year from terrible to average. Or at least that is the hope. We should also get to see a lot of the young talent we have heard about over the past few years. Thanks for the warm welcoming.

This falls into the category were everything in baseball can't be explained by numbers. Pelfrey's stuff just isn't very good no matter what velocity he is throwing at. You cannot be that unlucky for that long by accident. I do think his signing could end up being decent, but expecting anything beyond that is too much IMO. He is what his numbers have said over the course of his career.
