  1. Wow - Great picture - but it has to be 10 years and 40 pounds ago for Gardy!
  2. I hate that the Twins are such a mess on the field - but worse, I hate that they are a bigger mess in the FO!
  3. Great write-up - I don't see a downside for the Twins picking him up - Sounds like a "typical" TR deal -
  4. Yup - picked up one yesterday - had a photo of Brian Dozier ID'd as Joe Mauer! Interesting!
  5. Agreed - Mitch Williams was an idiot when he played, and not much has changed. Only one I can't listen to more is Tim McCarver. - (Did that sentence make sense?? If it did, then you would do very well as an interpreter in today's world!)
  6. Mid season, Twins - should they be sellers or buyers? Here is something to consider: In the past 28 games (June, and 1 in July) - the Twins are 15-13, are 3rd in MLB in hits, 8th in OBP, 14th in SLG, and 9th in OPS. They are 8.5 games out of the lead in the miserable AL Central. Now - if you ignore 2011, and focus only on 2012, especially the past 28 games, - -- is this a team that should be unloading?
  7. Agreed - Booing Mauer is ridiculous - for the most part, it shows just how much these "fans" really know about their team, and its' individual players. But I really do think that a part of their frustration with Joe, is the perception that he doesn't get the hits when they really need them - with RISP, he grounds to second - with no one on and two out - he doubles to left. This may have happened only a handful of times, but when the game is "on the line" and their golden boy comes to the plate, the expectations for Mauer are far and above the expectations for anyone else on the team. Now I know, the argument that is usually put forth is that no one else makes the salary that Mauer makes, so the expectations should be higher for him than any of the others. Mauer's current stats - OBP = .404; SLG = .445; OPS = .859 - I mean, these stats do not lie! Thing is - he's not a HR guy - probably never will be, but he is one of the best!
  8. Parmelee - - - in right????? ........ Like EVERYDAY?????? YIKES!!!!! Please . . . not that . . . ANYTHING but that!!!
  9. "But I wouldn't take just a bucket of balls for him from the first team that makes an offer, either." I, on the other hand, WOULD take a bucket of balls for him . . . (Matt Capps)
  10. Paul Molitor anyone????
  11. Ship him - but get SOMETHING
  12. He belongs on the third base line as the third base coach! I don't know if that's an endorsement of Gladden or a damnation of Liddle - Oh wait - yes I do!
  13. LOVE to see them go after Grienke - I also like Lewis and Bedard - I'd quickly shop Span, Capps, Parmalee, Pavano - (much as I like his approach to the game). Casilla - (much as I think if Gardy would give him a chance, he would produce and be a solid glove), De Vries, Butera, Burnett, Gray, Liriano, Manship, Swarzak, Valencia, Mastro, Tosoni - 15 of the 40 man roster, any combo would be doable, There may be value in Span, Capps, Liriano, - but the rest - AAA is full of these types of players - Look - we need bold strokes, - last year we lost 99 and are headed for a 90+ loss season this year - how much worse would it be with 15 newbies?
  14. Did you mean, "Another base running gaffe, by Denard Span"??? Probably one of the worst base runners this season for the Twins, who have a boat-load of bad base runners!
  15. No one will bite on Span because he continues to show that he has no idea what he should do on the base paths once he gets on.
  16. Please tell me how playing Mast... Makes ANY sense at all. Revere has been playing well - is this just Gardy being Gardy?
  17. I am beginning already to HATE on terms like - "toolsey outfielder", "pitch to contact", "high upside", "nibbles at the corners". Just once can't the Twins draft a player about whom they can say, "throws the ball through the catcher's mitt", "hits with stupendous power", "will be a super-star"?
  18. I don't believe the Twins will trade "Mornie" - not saying they shouldn't, just saying the won't!
  19. How can you not like a catcher who is competitive, fiery, hates to lose, gets under the skin of the opposition, and hits 300+ every year? He adds a personality dynamic to a team that the Twins just do not have - take him back?? Why the hell not? He'd be cheap compared to the last 3-4 players that we have suffered with because they were TR's attempt to find a veteran player with just a little left in the tank.
  20. My - My - what do you suppose Anthony Slama did to so thoroughly piss off Gardy and Ryan?
  21. Mmmmm- if I had a choice - Steve Liddle - he has no clue! But, given the choices - Anderson. If the "pitch-to-contact" theory is his, please do it tomorrow so we can move on and start trying to actually become a staff of pitchers. I just can not warm to that philosophy
  22. Meh - Truthfully - ANYBODY but Anthony LaPanta is good with me.
  23. For the most part, good teams will win in spite of what the manager does or does not do. That said, the manager does impact games by appropriately jerking a pitcher or leaving him in too long, or by favoring a player by playing him when he should not be in the lineup - (see Danny Valencia, Trevor Plouff, Matt Tolbert, et al). I also do not think that managers, especially Gardy, have a lot to say about who is sent down, or called up, but mostly try to play with the hand they are dealt. He baffles me with his moves at times, but I believe that he is a pretty good manager who could be a bit more stern with some of the younger players at times. His infatuation (or maybe his unbridled fear of no DH) with Butera is maddening, but hey - it's his team to run, and he does a pretty good job. Now, when the fire him or keep him question comes up about Terry Ryan, I'll have a lot more to say!
  24. I'm confused - . . . so we called up . . . Another outfielder?????????
  25. Someone needs to take the heat with this goofy handling of the DL - why wasn't Morneau put on teh dl last week, when he felt it was bad enough to leave the team and travel back to MN for a checkup? No wonder the players on the field look like they are in a daze - their bosses don't have a clue about personnel decisions. Is there anyone in AA that we could call up to give Ryan-Gardy a bit of advice? Maybe the Twins need some new medical personnel. Just say'n
