  1. Like said above, it's generally some combination of the player's history and how historic data. I would imagine they are predicting that Dozier's power numbers will start to regress at some point since he never really showed it in the minors.
  2. Mmmmmm I like the sound of that!
  3. A little bit after that article they posted the Steamer projections for the Twins top prospects if they hypothetically played a full year in the majors. Now these are just projections and just kind of a fun thing to look at in the offseason, but they have Josmil Pinto at 2.7 WAR with a defense of 10. I'm just sayin, I wouldn't complain if that happened. You can see the rest here: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/steamer-projects-minnesota-twins-prospects/
  4. Same. I'll take all the above before Pelfrey, if for no other reason than to not have to wait 2 days between each pitch. In the longterm, Colon really wouldn't make much difference unless we flipped him at the deadline for something, so I suppose if they want to spend the money and have next year be less awful then go for it. But I guess I'm pretty neutral about it.
  5. As a Twins fan, I'm almost always in favor of measures that help even the playing field between us and bigger markets, but I actually like this system. The max posting bid is reasonable and won't prevent small market teams from at least throwing their hat into the ring, but the player can still have some freedom to negotiate in his best interest. We're still at a disadvantage but it could be a lot worse.
  6. I guess I'm surprised too because I think there are people who are probably more deserving, however I guess I get the move. Even though Hendriks never really got an extended look (30 total games between 3 years), he never was able to really get anything going at the Major League Level. Plus the Twins 40 man is currently pretty full on the right handed starting pitcher front with Nolasco, Hughes, Correia, Deduno, Gibson, and Worley.
  7. Well put Nick, it's more than just the player we got. It shows that the front office is at least conscious of what it requires to get above average free agents and not just taking whatever is left after the dust settles. It's not a complete culture change, but at least we're actually trying.
