  1. Well, it's different than the usual downward plane.
  2. I hear this constant refrain about Lynn being from the school of "throw the fastball until they prove they can hit it." That's all well and good, but, opposing hitters are taking the approach "Lynn needs to prove he can get the fastball over before they'll try to hit it."
  3. The thing that frustrates me the most about Mr. Molitor is that he can do some things well when managing, but other decisions are completely baffling.
  4. Gunnarthor is referring to himself in the third person? You know who else did that? Herschel Walker. Gunnarthor is Herschel Walker!?!?
  5. Actually, I tried to play little league as a kid. Pitcher hit me in the side of the face just below the ear flap. Same game, I was sitting behind the backstop, pop foul ball bounced off the top of my head. Even at a young age, I was able to figure out I probably wasn't destined to ever play baseball.
  6. Explains a lot.
  7. 1.) Where are you from? Bakersfield, CA. Moved to the coast of CA, eventually wound up in MN, lived in Edina, Bloomington, Crystal, Brooklyn Park, ST. Paul and Minneapolis and then back to Bakersfield. Full circle, as it were. 2.) Age Range? Bronze Age. 3.) What brought you to Twins Daily? I believe the comments section at the Star Tribune, when they were still readable, brought me here. But, at best, that's a guess. 4.) Highest level of baseball/softball played? Never played. 5.) Favorite Twins Player, and favorite underappreciated Twins player, and if you want, favorite current Twins player? I always got a kick out of Kent Hrbek. Under appreciated? I think Tim Laudner. Favorite current player is Kyle Gibson. 6.) Favorite non-Twins Daily site/authors? There are others besides TD? 7.) Favorite Twitter follows? Don't do Twitter. 8.) Other interests outside of baseball. Cooking, Home repair, shooting sports. (I shoot High Power matches(rifle), IDPA and Steel Challenge(pistol)) 9.) Favorite part of Twins Daily... Game threads by a wide margin. 10.) Tell us what we can do better. What features or other topics would you like to see in-season or out of season? I cannot really think of anything. Conversations may get heated, but, they tend to remain respectful, for the most part. And, the mods all do a great job. 11.) Have you been to any of the Twins Daily "events?" No, but, that's due to lack of proximity. Maybe TD could do a "Winter Caravan" to those of us who are no in MN. Edit: Thanks, Carol! You reminded me that cooking is another thing I enjoy.
  8. I'll try to get some lineups posted in a while. Unless someone beats me to it. Sorry for the limited content. Kind of like the Twins yesterday, just didn't seem to have it today. Also, I tried to do the MN and CA math correctly this time.
  9. I got up this morning in somewhat of a funk, because the home town 9 played like they were in a funk, with results to match. *Ah, seventies era stuff. Music was cool, clothes, not so much. What? Yes, I wore that stuff. Don't judge! But, this is a new day and a great day to start another winning streak! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtIeIs-btts *Supposedly, Mr. Trebek got miffed at this guy continuing to win. And now, I bow out, leaving this one final video: *That worked out far better than I thought it would. This is where I put in some sort of picture where the five things to think about should be: *When I lived in MN and the regular heat failed, well....so, yes, I can relate. Some random observations from last night: 1. Slegers threw a clunker, which is going to happen. However, timing just wasn't good. 2. Kennedy managed to avoid another win. 3. It was cool when Mr. Dozier tied the game. 4. Bullpen did good right up until it didn't. 5. Credit to Mr. Rogers for going 2.1 innings and getting out of a tough spot. Play ball! Pitching:
  10. Trade Dozier to the Marlins for Castro. Then, when Castro returns, we'll get calls like, "And Castro make a perfect throw to Castro who laid down a terrific tag to get the runner at second!"
  11. Lineups will show up later. Maybe. If I don't forget. ...what was I doing here again?
  12. Just a few short games ago, I was one of those who thought the Twins were pretty much dead, desperately clinging to life. I thought the Twins were done to the point I expected the FO to do the following: *Why is it that a comedy has a better representation of life in the Middle Ages than big budget Hollywood movies? But, it shows you what I know, because lately, the Twins have decided to have the last laugh and show us they're not quite done yet: *Trust me on this, the movie is far better than the book. And, here we are, heading into All Star break and the Twins FO is probably wondering if anything they have to trade has value and if what they have that has value is should be traded. Never fear, though, I expect the FO will make smart decisions based on solid logic and reasoning: *Opening scene sort reminds me of being a Twins fan this year. And now, for a musical interlude: *Love the sparse arrangement of this song. And blame this on Vanimal. He introduced me to Ms. James. Wrapping up the content, I leave you with the following: *What's the matter with cute? Some random observations from last night: 1. Salvador Perez: It's astonishing to watch a guy snatch a somewhat errant 97mph fastball out of the air. 2. Baseball is cruel: Grossman hit a ball on the button for an out, Cave defends the plate and dumps one into left for a hit.3. Berrios: All Star!4. Molitor: Gave up the DH late in the game, which showed a bit of innovation. 5. Wilson: Key hits in key spots? What in the world is going on? Play ball! Pitching for the Twins: Right hander Aaron Slegers Pitching for the Royals; Right hander Ian Kennedy
  13. I think Garver over Astilludillo is a wise move. Running Cave for Wilson tied the game because no way Wilson makes it home on that play.
  14. Finally, Molitor shows a bit of innovation and decides not to put someone who's not caught for a bit behind the plate. Good move.
  15. I'd rather not. The guy seems to have a bit of crazy in him and not in a good way.
