  1. Live in St Paul and having problems with FSN as well. Other cable stations are OK.
  2. Others have expressed my frustration about Florimon's truly wretched hitting. (Seriously, sometimes I think I'm watching a leffhanded version of Dean Chance at the plate. Tom Nieto, Florimon? I'll take Nieto.) But I'm not impressed with Florimon's fielding either. He's erratic-witness the wildly offline throw he made to home today, witness the misplayed popup in the Angel series. And those of you who defended the decison to go with Florimon based on some defensive metrics you got a hold of.....hope you learned your lesson. Stay away from that s.......stuff!
  3. Escobar's performance makes Gardenhire's first day of spring training proclamation "Florimon's my shortstop" all the more unacceptable. The Twins suffered through nearly two months of wretched hitting because Petey was Gardy's guy.
  4. All in on in rejuvenating the Cuban pipeline Stringer. Great research. Uncle Bob stayed for the whole sermon but could make it to the old Met for Camilo's first pitch!
  5. There's a lot to digest with this signing. I'm on board with culling underperforming veterans who will not be part of the future: Kubel, Burton, Correa, Deunsing. (Even Willingham if the Twins can get something for him.) But as the Twins make a transformation, that doesn't necessariy mean that they need to tank seasons while doing so. The future includes Buxton and Sano obviously. But players in their late 20's and early 30's can be part of a future. Hughes, Plouffe, Dozier, Suziki, Nolasco, and now Morales (should they try to extend his contract) - these guys coulld possibly have many productive years ahead of them.
  6. Dear "Joe will get his hits" crowd. Something is wrong. Did you happen notice that he's struck out almost 30% of the time this year?
  7. So much talk about Pedro's fielding justifying his putrid hitting. Here's what I decided to do: each game, I decide if what Pedro did in the field offset what he did it the plate. Today the answer was no. He was hitless in risp situations; he did nothing in the field to offset this.
  8. Two strikeouts for Pedro, only one short of another hat-trick.Tomorrow's another day!
  9. I also heard Gladden talking up Danny Santanna at short. Personally, I don't understand why Florimon has been given the job without having to show improvement, particularily in the way he takes such awful at bats. Is there even a remote chance Santanna could win the job?
  10. Thanks for the youtube link. It was great viewing and it lead me to game 7 of the 1952 World Series -which was even better. In fact , I thought the camera work on the 52 game was better than the 67 one. They even had split screen. So 52 World Series Game 7 is highly recommended. You'll see a 20 year old Mick, Jackie, Scooter, Yogi, Pee Wee, Gil Hodges, Campenelia, Billy, Casey, Duke and the list goes on. At Ebbets field no less with Red Barber and Mel Allen calling the action from the catbird's seat. (don't have link but just google and you'll find it.) Think I'll tell my elected representatives that viewing should be part of all school children's core curriculum.
  11. I like Common but wish he would retire this bit. It comes across as forced and reaching . It can be just as presposterous to be overly negative as it is to be overly positive.
  12. I went to Twinsfest on Friday and talked briefly to someone in the media. My sense is that Nelson Cruz is the FA the referred to. And yes, I would give up a 2nd round draft choice to sign him.
  13. I saw many games there and could never accept it as a legitimate place for major league baseball to be played. Baseball games were able to be played when it rained and snowed. That's my only positive memory of the Dome.
  14. It's easy to be saracastic and dismissive about this signing- "Iron Mike" I called him because of his penchant for 4 1/2 inning starts. Nonetheless, I think this was the right thing to do. He's relatively young, he can throw some heat, and he's one more year removed from TJ surgery. Let's see what happens.
  15. Limited expectations so I won't be disappointed in him this time around. (Unlike last time.) He'll get his chance......at the very least he'll be more interesting to watch striking out than Clete Thomas was.
  16. Mostly likely Willingham...... if that's the case, I would immediately try to trade him. I can also see Diamond bouncing back if he's bounced back to the bullpen and used as a long reliever.
  17. The only discussion about Duensing worth having is how quickly he should be removed from the 40 man roster.
  18. I've always liked the way this Pensacola kid looks on the mound....big rightie 3 quarters delivery. Reminiscent of one Mr. Charles "Sonny" Siebert
  19. I was an advocate of a retractable roof during stadium debate, and I'm in agreement with SB on the merits of Safeco. However, I now think sans retractable was the way to go. The temptation to close the roof is just too great. In Milwaukee and other cities, the roof gets closed for the puniest of reasons.
