It's funny. People keep harping about the spread sheets. Data doesn't lie. Even good major-league left-handed hitters tend to struggle against left-handed pitchers. Sure, there are some that can handle left-handed pitchers OK, but the chances are, a right-handed hitter is generally going to be better against that left-handed pitcher. Data is there to be used. Sometimes yes, you should believe what your eyes tell you for the particular instance or game, but to suggest you should just ignore the spreadsheets and manage entirely on gut is also asinine.
