Was just about to say the same thing, not sure why anyone throws this team a fastball. The newer pitching machines let you program breaking balls into them but I'm sure those are far too expensive for Mr. Pohlad.
They have to go minimum 5-3 to have a chance. I don't see it. Cleveland has our number and they're loaded with lefties which we have Okert and Thielbar to counter. I'm betting at least a couple blown games from that alone.
4.5 back to 5.5 back is only one game but it feels like a nail in the coffin almost. And the Twins can't beat Cleveland head to head, looking at going into Baltimore or the Bronx for the wild card which is gonna be an abject disaster.
Every SWR start seems like we're just waiting for the shoe to drop. Also, this offense is garbage tonight. Go look at Quintana's baseball savant page and tell me we came ready to play.
I propose a new reliever ERA stat. You get credited for 0.25 of an earned run for letting an inherited runner score from 3rd, 0.5 from 2nd, 0.75 from 1st, and a full run as normal. Okert would lead the league.
Okert is so bad. I would die a happy man if he never pitches for the Twins again. I wish there was a way to factor inherited runners into ERA so that everyone can see how bad he is.
Seeming more and more likely that Stewart was a flash in the pan who had a short good run like a lot of relievers do. Oh well. At least Alcala and Sands have stepped up this year.
