  1. The Indians have won since 1991. Or the single playoff series victory in that 6-year span?
  2. When I was 15 and the "M" logo was introduced, I loved it. I also loved the "classic-style" white and grey pinstripe uniforms. By the time the 91 series had ended, I still loved the unis. But the "M" had run its course. I wanted the "TC" back. It took the better part of 20 years, but eventually it happened. I do agree that a basic home, basic road, and one alternate is all a team needs. Maybe throw in some sort of "retro" kit a few times a year. But any more than that is 10,000% unnecessary. And that goes double for "stars and stripes" or "camo" crap.
  3. There aren't any guys that Gardy is so deeply in love with. Except maybe Kubel. If the club is going to lose 100 games, I'd rather it be with young players that were maybe rushed a little bit than "proven veterans" with AA-caliber skills.
  4. Kubel and Bartlett *might* have something left in the tank. maybe. But this team is not competing, so it makes ZERO sense to still have either of them even in a position to possibly claim a roster slot. Colabello and Parmelee both have far more potential than Kubes. I thought scholarships were a thing of the past.
  5. About the only reason for a 3rd catcher is if your backup starts at DH. Then if the starting catcher gets hurt, you lose the DH when the backup takes the field. Most teams honestly wind up *needing* a third catcher, what...maybe 3-4 times a year? To that end, I see no problem with Mauer being the "emergency 3rd" catcher. He might log 20 innings behind the plate at most.
  6. I was in 10th grade. We had just moved from one part of cornfield county to another. The Twins helped me to make friends. The 91 series was my sophomore year in college. While it was amazing and special, 87 will always be the most magical.
  7. Can he? It is possible. But the only ones he's had any success with seem to be the ones he saw as a minor league manager. Any time a young talented player comes along and he isn't one of "Gardy's Guys", he fails to develop. And frankly I do not see many of the Buxton/Sano crowd being "Gardy's Guys"...they are a generation younger. He also has a HORRIBLE record with non-American born players. The Twins had a chance to part ways peacefully. Ray Miller would still be the most recent manager to be fired. ANYBODY else would be better suited to the job as it stands today.
  8. Both Pohlad and Ryan wind up getting their way. Instead of a free-agent, the team deals for a guy under contract (or arbitration-eligible), and maybe even kicks in cash to pay some of the salaries traded away. Money spent. But not through free-agency.
  9. I think it would only be fitting for Gardy to be stuck at 999 at the end of his tenure. So close to a milestone, but not quite there. Just like every season under his management.
  10. Sammy Sosa was traded early in his career...Sox to Cubs for George Bell. Not quite as established as Stanton, but it's as close as I can think of.
  11. Trading Pelfrey does open a roster spot, but it also leaves another hole in the rotation. So you add a player to the 40-man for Big Pelf, and you still don;t have a slot for someone to replace Diamond.
  12. I like Provus. Better than I ever liked John Gordon. (I still miss Herb so very much). He knows how to call a game. Some stories. Some stats. But mostly just painting the picture of what is happening on the field. That last point is something Dan Galdden still has ZERO ability to do. When I catch part of a game on the radio is is sadly almost always a Dazzle inning...and I wind up turning it off because more often than not I have no clue what the score is, what the inning is, who is pitching and hitting, or even what teams are playing.
  13. Yeah, Joe Benson for PJ Walters. Sounds like a typical Twins move.
  14. Good one, guys. Summit EPA is now "my Miller", meaning it is the "basic" beer in my fridge. And Summit Saga is simply outstanding.
