  1. 95 wins is doable - if health allows. One of these years, the baseball gods will smile on the Twins and give 400+ plate appearances to each Buxton, Lewis and Correa.
  2. Oofda! Not good on paper. Perhaps that's where Lewis eventually winds up and holds the position down for the next decade or so. But until then, I'm hoping Miranda wins the job and plays well. Definitely surprised that France would be announced as the starter so early on in camp.
  3. Yeah, I'm not upset that Vazquez is still around because if they traded him, it would likely have been a salary dump rather than a move made to upgrade the roster. Still not really sure what Camargo can be at the major league level and while I do think Cartaya is an intriguing prospect, I don't think he's ready to be the #2 catcher on a team that has post-season aspirations.
  4. Rocco's comments are a little surprising. Both he and Falvey have mastered the game of word salad. But it's not even March 1st yet. A lot can and will happen between now and opening day. Maybe they're trying to motivate Miranda?
  5. Yup. Goldschmidt is better in theory than reality. He's on the downside of a great career. Would rather Miranda at this point.
  6. Biggest threat to Miranda - the injury bug. If he's healthy, the 1B job is his.
  7. Padres came out with a statement that they weren't looking to trade Cease or King. Could be negotiating ploy or maybe they mean it. I never really thought Cease to the Twins was a thing. Felt like Vazquez' name got linked to the Padres and then a few folks ran with the possibility of Cease and it just became an aggregation rumor after that. I'd love for Cease to be slotted in next to Pablo, Ober and Ryan. That's a World Series caliber rotation. Just don't see it happening.
  8. If Miranda isn't the starting 1B on opening day, something went horribly wrong. France is fine...as a depth signing. I'd be surprised if he's being counted on for anything other than that. As for names like Bell / Goldschmidt / Rizzo / Turner, et al.. Sure, maybe the Twins are cheap. Or, maybe they just have enough confidence in Miranda that they weren't even considering those guys.
  9. The internal young options are sometimes like the back-up QB. Everyone loves them...until they actually start playing. Miranda's done enough so that he is somewhat of a known-commodity. I don't think he's going to be glued to the bench because Ty France is on the roster. If I'm wrong, so be it.
  10. This is kind of where I land too. I just don't see any viable reason for Julien being an option at 1B other than the fact that he's NOT an option for the other infield spots. I like Miranda and I think he can be the starting 1B long-term but he's dealt with injuries and I'd rather someone like France waiting in the wings. He can give them some starts at 1B as well as DH.
  11. Hader, Coulombe, and France. They could have done worse.
  12. I'm definitely in the camp - get Cease. Wouldn't mind that trade at all. But, more than likely, Bader and Coulumbe were going to happen regardless.
  13. IF, and it is a gargantuan if, the Twins stay healthy, they are good enough to win the division.
  14. Per the Athletic, the Twins are taking a look at Luis Urias and Paul DeJong. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/u/uriaslu01.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/dejonpa01.shtml Wonder if they're looking to move Castro and/or Martin. Not a fan of either Urias or DeJong (although he does have some pop) and I'm not sure how they fit unless some current players are on the move.
  15. Yeah, that's the bigger issue though - the Twins never seem to be in a rush to get their prospects up to the majors. I'd love to see what E-Rod can do, but just not happening without a shift in organizational philosophies. If it wasn't Bader, it would be someone else.
  16. Are we sure Martin's better than Bader at the plate? Marginal difference in OPS and even if Martin matched the number of AB's, he projects to fall short in power / run producing.
  17. They won 82 games last year and that was with Correa, Lewis and Ryan missing extended periods of time. Admittedly, the first two names aren't going to be confused with Cal Ripken in terms of durability, but the ceiling is higher than 86 wins, IYAM.
  18. As for Martin, he had some nice catches last year - but he also looked like a deer in headlights at various times. Will never get that from Bader and I'd lean towards giving Bader AB's over Martin. Yes, Martin is younger but I'm not sure there's much upside.
  19. In the 2023 post-season, Bader was huge for the Yankees. Admittedly, he didn't too much with the Cardinals when they were in the post-season but the Twins have usually lacked 'gamer' types that can rise to the occasion when you least expect it.
  20. Canha's a pro. In terms of his clubhouse presence, I don't think that's anything to worry about. Besides, you have Correa and Buxton as the clear leaders. There won't be issues. In terms of on-field, he's better than the in-house alternatives, but not by much.
