I honestly think we would have less injuries if he just played our best players everyday like they should be playing. I don't know how anyone on this team can get comfortable hitting 9th one day, 4th the next day, back to 9th and then getting 2 rest days. How is anyone supposed to get in any kind of rhythm playing for Rocco.
They just don't look like they are ready to play and that starts with the manager. All of the brain farts, the bad base running, the horrible line up construction and it has been horrible, The mis management of the pen.
It should have not come down to this because the manager should have been able to see that his reliever clearly did not have it and actually do something about it instead of sit there motionless and chewing on his gum.
Amen! Why he gave the game away when we were only down by 2 is beyond me. Someone may want to remind Rocco we are in a pennant chase and now is not the time to play everyone.
Without adding any major league talent then this team will implode and I honestly would not blame the players.
A clear message needs to be sent to ownership that we don't need to put up with this crap anymore if this is what happens.
I hope I am wrong.
You don't see the rest of the leagues teams making statements about the state of their teams payroll but our front office feels the need to make statements regarding ours.
I wish they would just keep their mouths shut.
Rocco is not qualified to manage a minor league club let alone a major league club. I Margot is 0 for the season in pinch hitting situations but continues to get used. How many games do you think Rocco gives away every year with his awful managing? I am going to say 8-10. But it's o.k. because he won over 100 games 5 years ago with a club that hit 500 homeruns. This team is just not fundamentally sound and that is all on the manager because he coddles these guys. They don't play hurt, they can't make the routine throw home because they double clutch the ball, They can't bunt the runner over to 3rd from 2nd. They rest 2-3 games before the all star break when they get 5 days off. They are hitting all over the place in the order. I mean we had a catcher at 3rd base last weekend.
The Buxton on the bench is the most puzzling move. if he can pinch run then he can play period. The sloppy play is just a reflection of our sloppy managing.
I also question sitting Larnach. I understand they were facing a lefty but I think Trevor is more of a threat at the plate than Vazquez, Margot, and most of the rest of todays lineup.
I have about given up on trying to make any sense of the moves that Rocco makes. Who was that guy at short? Bring up Julien and put Brooks Lee at short. Not some retread.
So you have a bunch of your good hitters injured and 5 days off after today and Buxton does not play? Really Rocco? He sits 2 out of the last 3 games.
Someone might want to inform Rocco that we are in a tight race and we can't afford to just give games away. Buxton makes that catch in center and so does Michael A Taylor.
