The Twins have more talent than you think they do.
For baseball players it's all about rhythm and being comfortable.
When you are being played up and down the diamond and are hitting 8th one day and batting leadoff the next it's tough to get into a groove. Baseball is a game of rhythm.
The Manager's primary job is to put his players in positions so they can succeed. How can a player succeed when they are an infielder and they find themself in the outfield all of the time. How can a left handed hitter ever hit left handed pitching if they are never given the opportunity?
Why does this team make so many blunders in the field and on the basepaths?
Some of this is on the players but most of the blame is on Rocco.
It's the manager's job to put his players in position to succeed.
Rocco put 3 infielders in the outfield tonight and the defense was awful.
How about play your best players(Larnach and Wallner) that actually know how to play outfield defense.
This game was poorly managed from the start with the line up construction. You can't have 3 infielders in the outfield. How do you ever learn to hit left handed pitching if never given the chance? Jeffers as the lead off man? Taking 2 of your better hitters out of an already thin line up.
I honestly think we would have less injuries if he just played our best players everyday like they should be playing. I don't know how anyone on this team can get comfortable hitting 9th one day, 4th the next day, back to 9th and then getting 2 rest days. How is anyone supposed to get in any kind of rhythm playing for Rocco.
They just don't look like they are ready to play and that starts with the manager. All of the brain farts, the bad base running, the horrible line up construction and it has been horrible, The mis management of the pen.
It should have not come down to this because the manager should have been able to see that his reliever clearly did not have it and actually do something about it instead of sit there motionless and chewing on his gum.
Amen! Why he gave the game away when we were only down by 2 is beyond me. Someone may want to remind Rocco we are in a pennant chase and now is not the time to play everyone.
Without adding any major league talent then this team will implode and I honestly would not blame the players.
A clear message needs to be sent to ownership that we don't need to put up with this crap anymore if this is what happens.
I hope I am wrong.
