  1. What I see in Hendriks is that he has a different motion for the fastball vs the off-speed stuff. He actually slows down when he throws the off-speed stuff. I hope that Parker can document this on a real-time video. But, from my perspective, when your motion slows down and hitters know the off-speed stuff is coming, it's a a big tip-off. That might explain the difference between MLB and MiLB. In either case, I like this kid and think he has a future. He just has to iron out his delivery and what might be tipping his pitches.
  2. This is crap. Is this allowed on this site? Since when do players recovering from shoulder surgery get classified as "shut down" because they are still building arm strength? This is the kind of alarmist, know-nothingism that gives a site a bad name. Do administrators even monitor stuff like this? Shut this article down and let Perez and Harden continue to recover.
  3. Well, historically, almost anything can happen in Minnesota as far as snow and winter are concerned up through mid-April. In the old days, they used to schedule the Twins on the road for the first couple of series, calculating, correctly, that it is better to be playing in Minneapolis on April 10th than March 30th. But, global warming has changed all that, along with the three decades in the Dome, which allowed schedule makers to do whatever they wanted with the Twins schedule. And so, one of these years in Target Field, we will get burned, in a big way. Like a whole week is lost. Sure the field can get cleaned off, but there are snowstorms, cold weather, rain and general misery when it comes to early Spring in the Midwest. Is it this year? Might as well be. The Twins got nothing to lose playing the Tigers and especially up against Verlander. Let's play those games sometime in July or August, in double-headers, with minor leaguers pitching for the Bengals, shall we?
  4. I'm not sure how long I've been clicking around this site trying to find the 52 comments listed on the main page, but it's been too long, and this issue has persisted for too long. At some point, you just need to fix your site or people like me are just going to give up on you guys.
  5. Twins will grab a veteran CF off another team who gets waivered. Dickerson of the Yanks is a good example. There will be players available as good or better than Maestroianni. In fact, they got Maestro the same way last year about this time. No way they start Hicks clock before they have to. No way.
  6. I think you guys are missing the strategy here by Ryan. Everybody keeps waiting for him to make a BIG signing, the one guy who is going to turn things around for the Twins. But, Ryan has said, and I believe he is correct, that he needs lots of arms, a stable of hurlers in order to turn things around. I think his strategy is to get 8 or 9 reasonably MLB ready arms and see who comes in with good stuff, who is ready to contribute, who is going to have a good year. Sure, Correia, Pelfrey, Hendriks, not necessarily the kinds of guys who are going to win a division and make a playoff run, but, if one or two of them turns out to have a good year, and we get lucky on another pitcher or two, who knows, we might end up being a .500 baseball team next year. And, like this year in the AL Central, that would be enough to hang around and generate crowds and interest. Look, we've lost 95 games the last couple of years -- what's really possible at this point? Get a stable of horses and see who can ride. With back to back 95 loss years, it's not like an Ace is what we need.
  7. Still just one comment showing up on the main page....
  8. You should realize that something is wrong with the display on this blog. I cannot access the comments section on the articles on the main page. Anyway, heads up people. Your blog is not functioning properly.
