  1. Well just heard TwinsDaily get mentioned on MLB network MLB NOW by Mike Bernardino (as a place of Ms. Bissen's work)
  2. I'm pretty sure I do it better than TC, finished the book last year (of all players that were still with organization) plus 2017 Draftees.
  3. Very interesting to see Ramon Borrego moving up the ladder as I had seen him as the GCL coach the past four years around the complex. He has an aggressive offensive style of playing (hit and runs, straight steals, etc) and seeing that he'll be coaching alot of the players he had a few seasons ago, I'd look for the same in the FSL.
  4. Not really it's a calculated risk assessment move to get ahead of the starting pitching situation and to save $$ the next season. Even though Smyly and Pineda likely won't pitch in 2018, IF they are healthy in 2019, having them pitch at 8M or even 10M is a bargain given their prior abilities and track record given what FA SP are getting on the open market.
  5. I personally saw Enlow throw on 3 occasions in the GCL and NEVER once did I see him throw a FB under 93 mph. In fact by the end of the season he was sitting 94-95 mph and touching 96 mph. His power breaking ball sits at 84-86 mph with tight sharp break. And while that changeup is developing, he throws a great tumble on it at 88-89 mph. But he needs to bulk up to continue the grind of a full season as the kid is all arms and legs.
  6. Definitely deserved! Great kid and an outstanding human being! He also has a pretty good voice as he sang (in Spanish) nearly everyday in spring training walking out of the clubhouse to the backfields!
  7. No, I'll be sticking it out here as I live more central than on the coast but I've already closed up the office in Naples and removed the valuables. Gas stations running out of gas, bottled water is sold out throughout South Florida, sheets of plywood are going for $60 if you can find them, and we're still a week out from the storm actually hitting. I'll be spending most of tomorrow helping the in-laws put up their hurricane shudders on their houses as they live only 10 minutes from the beach.
  8. For those wondering, Lewis Thorpe is starting Game 1 of the Miracles vs Cardinals at Hammond Stadium on Tuesday night at 6:35pm ET.
  9. Brent Rooker ABs on 9/3/17 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2noJH1GeVg Jermaine Palacios ABs on 9/3/17 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aecndxxjhxM
  10. My first GCL game was also Byron Buxton's first GCL game. Pic with Buxton on his 2nd professional game

  12. Considering the prep SS position was Royce Lewis then Jeter Downs, Nick Allen and Hunter Greene, Wander would have likely been considered a Top 10 draft pick in this year's draft.
  13. Going the conservative care route first if that doesn't work you can always go under the knife.
  14. The strides that Lewis has made defensively at SS since being drafted are leaps and bounds. He takes direction extremely well and is a quick learner. Defensively, he's gone from a project SS/outfielder to possibly an average to slightly above average SS which gives the Twins alot of options in the future. Maybe even making Gordon available for cost controlled starting pitching.
  15. The Twins are even surprised with Baddoo, he's added nearly 20 lbs of muscle since being drafted transforming from a quick twitch, burner type hitter that he was in HS to one adding a power component that no one was expecting and a very exciting speed/power combo with plus plate recognition.
  16. What bothers me is when people use a "long term" statistic in a "short term" duration. BABIP doesn't normalize/stabilize for a pitcher until around 2000 balls in play. According to FanGraphs here are the stabilizing thresholds for short sample size for pitching statistics to be of significant. “Stabilization” Points for Pitching Statistics: 70 BF: Strikeout rate 170 BF: Walk rate 640 BF: HBP rate 670 BF: Single rate 1450 BF: XBH rate 1320 BF: HR rate 630 BF: AVG 540 BF: OBP 550 AB: SLG 630 AB: ISO 70 BIP: GB rate 70 BIP: FB rate 650 BIP: LD rate 400 FB: HR per FB 2000 BIP: BABIP And offensively: “Stabilization” Points for Offense Statistics: 60 PA: Strikeout rate 120 PA: Walk rate 240 PA: HBP rate 290 PA: Single rate 1610 PA: XBH rate 170 PA: HR rate 910 AB: AVG 460 PA: OBP 320 AB: SLG 160 AB: ISO 80 BIP: GB rate 80 BIP: FB rate 600 BIP: LD rate 50 FBs: HR per FB 820 BIP: BABIP http://www.fangraphs.com/library/principles/sample-size/
  17. The GCL double header for today gets rained out and added to Friday (9/1) and Saturday (9/2) for back to back double headers to end the season. The GCL squad is currently in first place by 5 1/2 games in the South Division and looking at the #2 seed overall with 8 games left in the season.
  18. I'm a little late on it but I did get to see the GCL on Saturday that took place in Hammond Stadium instead of the Centurylink backfields The 20 year old lefty Lachlan Wells started the game and looked quite sharp considering he hadn't thrown in a competitive game in nearly two months. The Aussie's secondary pitches were on especially his breaking ball that he threw at will for strikes at 74-76 mph. His fastball command is above average with him throwing it around 88-92 mph and sat comfortably around 90-91. The Lachlan Monster mixed in a couple of changeups as well around the 80-82 mph mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZnMWWESvxk After Wells, another rehabber lefty Tyler Jay came into the ballgame and was a little erratic. The first couple of batters he faced, his fastball was coming in around 91-92 with some movement and control. He then proceeded to ramp it up and was sitting 93-94 mph for the majority of his outing. His slider was nice with sharp horizontal movement and sitting 84-86 mph. He also worked in a couple of curveballs in the 76-78 mph range. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fTVFpSfJGc Lastly and the most impressive of the bunch was recent draftee Blayne Enlow. Enlow looks like all arms and legs out there which adds more deception to his deliver. Enlow's heater was sitting 94-95 mph with plus life. His slider was wicked at 84-86 mph, he even mixed in a few changeups at 88-89 mph with good tumble. This kid has the makings of a draft day steal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta0KUNyIjZ0
  19. A flexor mass strain is NEVER a good injury as there is a correlation to it being a precusor to ulnar collateral ligament tears
