  1. I can't wait to see the (BPs) batting practice at the minor league Spring Training . The A Ball combo team (Ft. Myers & Cedar Rapids) should be interesting / fun to watch with Sano - Vargas - Walker & DJ Hicks. I'd like to know who wins those BP HR battles, day in and day out. Are there any stories from this past Fall Instructionals on thier BPs? If these guys cut down on their K's - The Twins are looking somewhat formidable in the coming years. (Sano @ 3B - Vargas (Big Pappi) @ DH - Walker @ RF & DJ Hicks @ 1B) Could provide some nice pop to go with the speed / athleticism / and pure hitting skills of say: A Hicks / Arcia / Rosario / Buxton / Harrison / Goodrum / Levi Michaels & Kepler. The question is who becomes expendable as 2014 - 15 rolls near? What type of team will we field? More of a (Power / High BA / Speed / or Defensive & Pitching) type team?
  2. I'm curious what Seth would list as his Top 5 per position: *Fastest Player *Best Power (Raw & Usable - per game average) *Best Hitter *Best Arm Infield *Best Arm Outfield *Best Fastball *Best Off Speed That's only 35 names and would give viewers great insight for 2013
  3. He was serviceable in Milwaukee for years and, as stated, he did a serviceable job in the AL East. I would take him in a heartbeat. He could always go back to bullpen if he failed in his starter role. Lord knows we may need some long middle relievers if the starters don't work long innings. I like him better than Corriea because of his multiple role ability (mindset).
  4. Sometimes, offense is about slight adjustments and not major adjustments. Slight movement of the hands or slight adjustment to your balance so that you see the ball better. That only comes with repetition and can be done anywhere. Defense is more about situations and how you see the game in front of you on every pitch. The right throws to make and the right fielding alignment based on base runners and outs. I can understand Fall ball being about learning the game better for these prospects.
  5. Very good athlete with crazy power. Definitely has that game changing potential (Power). GO E'TOWN - That was an amazing championship game too Great article - You have to love a kid who has Sandlot as his favorite baseball movie.
  6. Harrison is ranked higher than Kepler onTwins site, yet everyone talks of Kepler as the untouchable? Why is that? doesn't Harrison have a greater chance of moving through system quicker since the Twins need infield help? Both are exceptional hitters on the brink.
  7. I don't see the Twins as punting and believe that they can make strong strides to respectability in 2013. The Brewers got rid of Grienke when they were playing so poorly for most of the season and then made a mad push for the playoffs when they brought up young pitching prospects and infield prospects for remainder of the year. There is something to say about new blood and nothing to lose mentality. Watch for Twins in 2nd half of 2013 and beyond. The Tool players are arriving soon.
  8. Ubaldo Jiminez was terrible in 2012, but I believe he could still be a helpful #3 or #4 for Twins in 2013 and at a low cost. He has the tools and could flourish in the pitcher friendly Target Field. I would trade for him as Cleveland is looking to unload players. If our pithing coach can helpJiminez, what a find? Worth the $5 million or so investment Cleveland picked up his option for. Thoughts?????????
  9. I listened to a podcast the other day that spoke of Rory Rhodes. I hadn't heard his name in many months and wondered what does his future look like. He was demoted to Elizabethton last year (from Beloit) and was on fire to start the season before injury hampered his season. Good looking prospect - What does future hold for Aussie?
  10. The Cardinals are another organization who stays great thru the draft 1st. Twins are getting there. Twins also have some hidden Gems in minors who can become stars (M. Kepler; J. Palanco; N. Roberts; R. Jiminez; A. Walker; T. Harrison; Clement; and all those young pitchers have a chance to be special). Give the change in philosophy a chance.
  11. Love the Trade. I love the idea of having a solid young team from 2014 thru 2020 with complete control of most of my young contracts. It beats piecing players together every year like the Twins have been doing for recent years. The Brewers built their team with Fielder; Weeks; Hart; Giardo; & Hardy; (young guys) and found gems like Braun in later draft. The Twins can form a very solid team in 2014 with young prospects and continue to build thru free agency because they will have the money to pay top level FA's in 2014; 2015 & 2016. Great Trade & Start to rebuilding Twins organization.

  13. The Twins minor league system is much improved this year. Recognize that 12 of 30 names on this list are guys who played in Elizabethton this year. Many of those kids received rave reviews for their play in 2012 and potential moving forward. Terry Ryan should receive some love for an excellent draft class. Although I want wins now - I believe that the Twins are building somethng special, that they can afford for years to come. Buxton; Berrios; Kepler; Harrison; Walker; Melotakis; Polanco; Bard; Goodrum; Chargois; Z. Jones; Baxendale; (Bold are T. Ryan Draftees). This list also excludes T, Duffy; T. Rogers; DJ Hicks; who all showed true promise moving forward.
  14. Why are the events of the Twins Fall Instructional Session so secretive? Who played well and who struggled? All I heard was Berrios struggled. Who improved plate discipline or mound command? What are some of the scoops? 50 dudes and no news?
  15. I thought you couldn't trade any prospects from the current 2012 draft yet? That would leave Berrios off the market. Am I right in this assumption? When can 2012 draftees start getting traded?
  16. Who are the people in AAA that are ahead of Arcia? That would make the most sense by the Twins management in holding him back if they already have guys they want to see in AAA. There is no early season fuss to rush these guys. We are going to be good because of, off season trades, or we are going to be good (division contenders) in 2014, because of appropriate play development throughout the minors. Either way haste makes waste. Lets be good for the latter part of decade and trust managements organizational gameplan.
  17. I loved the ETown outfield of Buton, Kepler, and Walker this past summer. Do you see all three going to Cedar and if so: 1) Will Walker start along side those two? 2) Will they keep some of the 2012 Beloit OF for part of the season? 3) How does this crowded OF play out to start 2013? 4) Will the Trio be as productive in a full season as they were in ETown? your oinion?
  18. Assuming that most of these younger guys went to instructionals this past October in Ft Myer - Any word on how they did in terms of making strides in their difficiencies? Any buzz on anybody?
  19. I agree with DJ Hicks. He was limited this past short season (injury), but was as clutch as they come in each of his ABs throughout the season & playoffs. He is a lot faster around the bag as well, as a defender (Solid), than he is on the base paths. Crazy pop in his bat to all fields. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20121016&content_id=39845086&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb MINOR LEAGUE MILBY AWARD WINNER
  20. I really like Polanco. I think he has a chance to be a special player to be so young. Produced a ton of doubles this season and had a hefty slugging percentage for a 2nd baseman. I also read that Walker had the 2nd most home runs (inlcuding playoffs / 17) of any of the 2012 draftees. He hit over .350 for a career in college and even hit .400 one season. I'll take my chances that he figures it out. He won 2 summer league championships (GLSCL & Cape) and 1 in his first pro season (Appy). The Twins need guys who know how to win. I'm surprised Duffy didn't get as much love as his college teammate Chargois. He was as good if not better this summer. Finally - How does a guy like Romy Jiminez not make the list when he was having triple crown numbers before his knee injury. He is solid in almost every category and seems like a true sleeper who could have made this list.
  21. I like your list and find myself intrigued with the kids from the Appy League. I watched the Appy league over the last few years and have a special feeling about several of those kids. As teams draft on potential and look for that special "Thing / Tool" from each draftee - You could see some of those Tools on display with these kids and see them only getting better through the system (regardless if it was only the Appy League). From Buxton to Berrios to Duffy to Melotakis to Walker to Chargois to Palanco to even Burris who was lights out with a crazy fast ball and curve ball. I'd like to know what the coaches thought of these guys after a short season and instructionals.
  22. As the Twins attempt to change their philosophy by drafting (Power Pitchers and Hitters) - Will the Twins place on the scale/graph stay the same? or will they give up more HRs? or Hit more HRs? What are your thoughts based on farm system potential? Who will we become? (More HRs with the Sano; Arcia; Rosario; etc.; or Less HRs with the Gibson; Wimmers; Berrios; Hermsen; etc;)
  23. I read the Handbook and found some of the Sleepers and Players to Watch to be interesteing choices (Top 5 Position Listings). What Sleepers and Players to Watch are you cheering for, to be that guy? Who do you see bringing the biggest impact to the club in a few years (Sleeper / PTW)? Why? What numbers (Stats) would you want to see from that individual(s) in a full season?
  24. Who are 2 or 3 of the best scouts in the Twins personnel system in terms of producing future MLB players? and Why have they been successful at that thier jobs? and Finally - Who are the (4) sleepers from this past draft and what makes them somewhat special?
  25. I like the idea of the question a lot but I can already see the response... "There are a lot of kids we like in the draft and time will tell blah blah blah". Ryan isn't going to tip his hand in next year's draft. On the other hand, if you make the question more about last year's draft and the implied philosophy change that went behind it, I think it would provide a more substantive answer. I was actually talking about this years draft (2012). I see how it was misinterpreted though. I want to know about the 2012 Pitchers and Hitters that the Twins drafted last June. Who has raised eye brows other than Buxton and Berrios?
