  1. I wonder how much cheaper the cost would have been for the Nats to acquire Andrew McCutchen. It'll be interesting to see how this affects his trade market.
  2. This just sounds wrong: Adam Eaton traded for a top 5 prospect, plus a top 50 prospect, and a recent first round pick. I just can't get over this trade.
  3. I guess the metrics really like Eaton's defense. Plus, he's got the 5 years of control left compared to 2 for Dozier.
  4. You would have to think so. I thought Reynaldo Lopez would almost be too much to give up for Eaton straight up, but I think I'm underrating how good Eaton is. Still, what a haul for the White Sox.
  5. And they get Reynaldo Lopez too? This trade is ridiculous!!!
  6. Yeah, that's a good point. Mark Trumbo might seem like a better fit, especially since it sounds like Desmond is going to play 1B. They get some positional flexibility though, and I'm still a fan of the move overall.
  7. Yeah, let's criticize a team for signing a quality player to a fair deal. Nolan Arenado is in his prime, Car-go is still very good, they have the batting champ in Lemehieu, and some of their young pitching is up and pitching well. Why not make a big free agent signing?
  8. I'm not sure what this means, but I think Buxton 2 years ago was a better prospect than what Moncada is now.
  9. Well the Yankees are talking about a $90M deal with Chapman, so I'd say they're going for it, while breaking in their young guys at the same time.
  10. Maybe now he is, but at their peak value, Buxton would be considered a better prospect. A stat that might be of interest is their minor league strikeout numbers: Moncada: 24%, Buxton: 21%.
  11. They did a lot of joking around, but he said that he's meeting with Levine and Falvey tonight. He's paying attention to and taking a positive approach to all of the rumors and taking it as a compliment, but said he'd like to be here for the long haul to win with the Twins. Overall, he said it's a really exciting time for him. He's such a great guy, which makes the possibility of him being traded a tough one.
  12. Brian Dozier is going to be on Intentional Talk in a few minutes.
  13. Mark Melancon is signing with the Giants. No big surprise there, as that really helps fill out their team. Maybe an upgrade in the outfield is the next move for them.
  14. I think Deleon is more than a 3rd starter, and the Dodgers are probably going to have to add in another good prospect or two too. Julio Urias is not getting traded. I think that's pretty clear.
  15. For what it's worth, Jon Heyman just said on MLB Tonight that he believes Dozier will be traded to the Dodgers. He also mentioned a few mystery teams, the Angels and Phillies.
  16. The Dodgers aren't moving Urias for Chris Sale. Why would they move him for Dozier?
  17. I'm assuming Julio Urias is nearly untouchable. Stewart and Dozier wouldn't be enough to get Urias alone, much less a package including two other really good prospects.
  18. If he's that good of a hitter, you find a spot for him. There's probably a reason why MLB.com has him ranked right in the same area as Yusniel Diaz. Of course I'd rather have Verdugo than Calhoun, but a package of Verdugo and Deleon might be too much to ask for.
  19. If you're pessimistic about Rosario, then Calhoun seems like a good prospect to look at. He's probably going to have to move to LF from 2B. He hit 27 HRs in AA as a 21 year old and only had an 11.6% K rate. He's an intriguing prospect as the second piece in the deal.
  20. I think pitching has to be the main return for Dozier in order for a trade to make sense. Bellinger is a good prospect, but a strikeout prone first basemen isn't enough for me to give up Dozier.
  21. Now we're pushing the goal post back 3 more years? Really?? To answer your question: Yes, I, along with most people, expect this team to be contending in less than 3 years.
  22. He's not a very good hitter, but he's one of the best pitch framers in the game. Going from the worst in Suzuki to one of the best should do something for you. Having good offense from the position would be nice, but the pitching is the problem, and this hopefully will help with that.
  23. That's a good deal in terms of money owed. I'd like to have Castro be a better hitter, but his catching skills should make up for the weak bat.
