It makes me sad that the FCL season will be completely over for this year by end of day Tuesday. With the draft moving from early June to mid-July, there isn't TRANSACTIONS With Ryan Jeffers going on the paternity list, Mickey Gasper has been called back up to the Twins. The Twins announced on Saturday morning that they have officially signed Bruin Agbayani (6th round) and Jonathan Stevens (16th round). That means they signed all 21 of their 2025 draft picks. SAINTS SENTINEL St. Paul 9, Worcester 5 Box Score A quick look at the final score, it'd be hard to believe that this game was tied 2-2 through the first six innings. Worcester took a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh, but it was (almost) all Saints after that. The Saints got on base first in the second innings. Payton Eeles led off with a single. With one out, Jonah Bride singled. Eeles scored on a single to left by Will Holland. With two outs, Austin Martin singled to drive in Eeles with the second run. Jose Urena started, and he tossed four scoreless innings on three hits and two walks. He had four strikeouts. He also hit a batter. Cory Lewis came in to start the fifth frame. In three innings, he gave up three runs (one run per inning) on five hits and three walks. He had three strikeouts. Trent Baker pitched a scoreless eighth inning. With a 9-3 lead going to the ninth, Michael Tonkin came in and gave up two runs on a hit batter and a home run. Down 3-2 at the 7th Inning Stretch, Noah Cardenas got things started by being hit by a pitch with one out. Austin Martin singled to right. Luke Keaschall, who played second base for the first time in his rehab stint, hustled to beat out a potential double play and keep the inning alive. Edouard Julien then crush a ball to the opposite field for his 11th home run and to give the Saints a 5-3 lead. In the eighth inning, Eeles led off by crushing a homer to right-center field. Later the same inning, Will Holland hit a slow roller toward third base. The ball was thrown away and went out to right field. Jonah Bride scored. Holland just kept running and when the right fielder had a throwing error, Holland came around to score the team's eighth run. Noah Cardenas followed with his sixth home run in 19 games and 55 at-bats since joining the Saints. Julien led the way. He went 2-for-4 with his seventh double, 11th homer, and three RBI. Eeles was 2-for-4 with his second homer. Martin was 2-for-5 with two RBI. WIND SURGE WISDOM Wichita 3, Springfield 2 Box Score Connor Prielipp was on the mound again, and he was really solid. He reached 62 pitches and tossed the first 4 1/3 innings. He gave up no runs on three hits and a walk. He also struck out five batters. Joel Cesar pitched really well in relief. He got all five batters out that he faced, two on strikeouts. The Wind Surge grabbed the game's first lead with a run in the bottom of the third. Ben Ross scored on a fielding error to make it 1-0. Two innings later they doubled their lead when Jorel Ortega scored on a sacrifice fly by Walker Jenkins. 10-0 Mike Paredes came on for the seventh and gave up a solo homer to top Rangers prospect Sebastian Walcott which cut the Wichita lead in half. However, in the bottom of the seventh, the Surge responded by replacing that run. With one out, Kaelen Culpepper walked. He went to second base on a balk that Frisco manager Carlos Cardoza did not agree with and was tossed for it. Culpepper stole third base and when the catcher through the ball into left field, the shortstop scored the insurance run. It proved to be a run they needed as Paredes gave up another run in the eighth to make it 3-2. Paredes worked the ninth inning as well, didn't give up a run, and earned his second save of the season. Paredes gave up two runs on six hits in the outing. Wichita didn't have much offensive Surge in this game. In fact, they managed just three hits total. They were helped by four walks and two hit batters. Culpepper, leading off again, got on base with a walk, was hit by a pitch, and doubles for the second time with the Surge. The stolen base was his fourth. The two other Wichita hits were also doubles, Rubel Cespedes's 17th and Kyler Fedko's 14th. KERNELS NUGGETS Cedar Rapids 7, Ft. Wayne 0 Box Score It has been a struggle of late for Alejandro Hidalgo. Two starts ago, he gave up three runs on two hits and three walks in just 2/3 of an inning. In his last start, he gave up seven runs on eight hits and a walk. However, in this game, he had a much-needed fantastic outing. The 22-year-old went 4 2/3 innings of shutout baseball and gave up three hits and two walks. 44 of his 66 pitches were strikes (66.7%). He also struck out five batters. Chase Chaney came on in relief and got the final out of the fifth inning and then worked four more innings to earn his sixth Kernels win of the season. He gave up just three hits, walked none and had four strikeouts. The Kernels got things going with a three-run second inning. The inning started with back-to-back walks. Justin Connell drove in Poncho Ruiz with a single for the game's first run. Maddux Houghton flew out deep enough to advance the runners to second and third. Luke Napleton drove in Andy Lugo with a ground out. Then Kyle DeBarge doubled to drive in Connell and give the team their third run. In the bottom of the fifth, DeBarge walked and stole his 52nd base. He advanced to third base when the throw went into center field. He scored on a Kyle Hess ground out. In the sixth frame, Billy Amick led off with a double. He scored on an Andy Lugo single to make it 5-0. They didn't really need it, but they added some insurance in the bottom of the eighth with two more runs. Ruiz was hit by a pitch and went to third on an Andy Lugo single. Ruiz scored on a fielding error. Houghton singled to load the bases, and Napleton drove in the seventh run with a sacrifice fly. DeBarge went 1-for-3 with two walks, a double and his 52nd steal. Lugo was 2-for-3 with a walk. Defensive Play of the Game... You don't run on Luke Napleton! Check out our new sister site, Padres Mission and see who their top 20 prospects are. MUSSEL MATTERS Fort Myers 6, Lakeland 0 Box Score The team scored six runs, but when you give up zero runs, we are most-likely going to start with the pitching. In this game, the Mussels sent Michael Ross to the mound, and he was really good. The Twins 18th-round pick a year ago out of Samford gave up just one hit and walked one over six shutout frames. The walk and the single both happened in the top of the sixth. He got the first 15 batters of the game out. He had five strikeouts. As impressive, 49 of his 63 pitches were strikes. That's a 77.8% strike percentage. Manager Seth Feldman turned the game over to his bullpen. Lefty Brennen Oxford gave up two hits over his two scoreless innings. Ruddy Gomez struck out one batter to finish out the shutout. In the bottom of the third, the Mussels got on the board. Caleb McNeely started the inning with a single and stole second base. He scored when Yohander Martinez reached on a throwing error. In the fourth frame, Peyton Carr got things going with a one-out double. With two outs, Blaze O'Saben walked. McNeely then came through with a single to drive in Carr. It remained a 2-0 game until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Mussels put a big four-spot on the scoreboard. Martinez led off with a walk, and Jefferson Valladares singled. Dameury Pena reached on a fielder's choice and a throwing error. That brought Yasser Mercedes to the plate, and he reminded us of why we still love his tools and power-speed combo. The 20-year-old blasted a shot to the top of the berm in left field to put the game out of reach. Caleb McNeely went 2-for-4, scored a run and drove in a run. Jefferson Valladares went 2-for-4. Defensive Play of the Day... the Mighty Mussels turned a 5-4-3, around-the-horn Triple Play in the 8th inning on Saturday night. COMPLEX CHRONICLES FCL Twins 4. FCL Tigers 3 Box Score We’re just going to start at the end because things got a little crazy in Fort Myers. As the game went to the top of the ninth inning, the Twins held a 4-2 lead. After pitching some of their more experienced pitchers the first eight innings, they turned the game over to their “closer” Anderson Ramos. The 19-year-old entered the game with six saves. He had 38 strikeouts (and 17 walks) in his 28 1/3 innings. The inning started with a walk and a single. Another single drove in a run and made it 4-3. Ramos walked another batter to load the bases with still nobody out. Then came the biggest play of the game. Tigers prospect Javier Osorio hit a line drive to shortstop Ramiro Dominguez who threw to second baseman Irvin Nunez, who threw it to third baseman Yilber Herrera, who threw it to Ramos, who threw it to Dominguez, and threw it to Ramos to record the second out of an important double play. Still hanging on to the one-run lead and with a runner on first base, Ramos issued another walk. However, he struck out the next batter to end the game and send the Twins to the Best of Three championship series against the FCL Blue Jays. But how did we get to that point? Well, the Twins took the lead with a three-run second inning. That inning began with walks by Irvin Nunez and Merphy Hernandez. After a strikeout, Isaac Pena walked to lead the bases. Yilber Herrera followed with a line drive single that drove in two runs. After a pitching change, Edouardo Beltre doubled to drive in the third run. However, Herrera was thrown out at home. Sam Rochard started and threw the first four innings. He gave up zero runs on one hit and two walks. He also struck out five batters. The right-hander signed with the Twins in early June out of the independent Frontier League. He turned 25 earlier this week. Will Armbruester came in next. The 24-year-old signed with the Twins at the end of April out of the Frontier League as well. He gave up two runs on five hits and a walk over two innings. He walked one and struck out two. Both runs came in the fifth inning. 24-year-old Brent Francisco worked a scoreless seventh inning despite a hit and a walk and a hit batter. He signed with the Twins from the independent Washington Wild Things on May 20th. Xander Hamilton walked one and had three strikeouts in a scoreless eighth frame. Hamilton was the TWins 14th round pick in 2023 out of Appalachian State. He pitched in five games in 2023. Last year, he pitched in 35 games for the Mighty Mussels and another seven games in Cedar Rapids. He had 70 strikeouts in 57 innings total, plus nine saves. Hamilton spent much of the 2025 season on the Injured List. And, here is Ramos’s interesting pitching line. He gave up one run on two hits and three walks in the ninth inning. The Twins offense struggled a bit outside of the three-run second inning. They managed just five hits but added eight walks. They had people on base, but went just 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners on base. Herrera went 1-for-2 and walked twice in addition to his two-run single. Dominguez went 2-for-4 with a double. Beltre doubled as well. Nunez and Hernandez each walked twice. Jayson Bass was the one hitter who had both a single and a walk. The FCL Blue Jays topped the FCL Astros 4-3 in 10 innings. The Twins and Jays will play Game 1 of their Best of 3 series on Sunday morning in Dunedin. They will play Game 2 in Fort Myers on Monday. If a Game 3 is needed, it will be played on Tuesday in Fort Myers. DOMINICAN DAILIES DSL Twins 2, DSL Angels 8 Box Score The Twins gave up runs in each of the first four innings and then gave up a three-spot in the seventh inning. Rainer Marin fell to 0-3 on his season. He gave up one run in each of the first four innings. He gave up four runs (3 earned) on five hits and a walk. Jensi Infante came in and allowed an inherited runner to score. He gave up one additional run on one hit, but he also hit two batters in his 1 1/3 innings. Aaron Carranza gave up three runs on two hits, two walks and a hit batter over 1 2/3 innings. Juan Figaro got the final four outs without allowing another run. The Twins scored single runs in the fourth and ninth innings. With one out in the top of the fourth, Jose Barrios was hit by a pitch. He stole second and with two outs scored on a Joyner Perez single. Jhomnardo Reyes tripled to lead off the ninth inning. He scored on a ground out by Darwin Almanzar. Reyes led the offense. He had two of the team’s five hits. It was his eighth triple of the year. Not yet. I think they're going to long-play his rehab, if possible. He only had 7 MLB games and then missed 2+ months. Definitely don't want to rush him back.

Lower tier for now, but definitely very intriguing. Needs more strikes, but I'm guessing he's getting more velocity and movement on his pitches, so it could take some time to harness it (and some never do)... But from a pure "stuff" standpoint, And frankly, listening to @Jamie Cameronand @Jeremy Nygaardspeak on the most recent Destination: The Show podcast. Bohorquez is borderline Top 20 for them. I update my personal Twins prospect rankings (Top 200ish) every month. Bohorquez is now #21 for me.

Thank you for catching all my DeBarge and El DeBarge references. I thought I was a big fan in the mid-80s (of El DeBarge), but I think it was just one really good son.

No change. Still fully expect both to sign. Probably just some logistical things, maybe travel schedule, etc?

They can also use the 5% overage if needed without penalty. They'll have to. But again, no doubt that they'll sign.

He's not too old for anything. He's probably 25. He missed 1 1/2 seasons due to Tommy John surgery, so the timetable has to look a little different.

Image courtesy of David Malamut (photos of Kyle DeBarge) The Twins and all four of their affiliates played on Saturday Lots of good content for you below. TRANSACTIONS On Wednesday morning, the Twins announced the RHP David Festa was being placed on the Injured List with shoulder inflammation. RHP Travis Adams was again added to the big-league roster to take the spot. A day after claiming catcher Jhonny Pereda off of waivers, the Twins released Diego Cartaya from the Saints roster. The 23-year-old from Venezuela was a consensus Top 100 prospect before the 2022 and 2023 seasons Before the 2023 season, Baseball Prospectus ranked him #19 overall, Baseball American ranked him #18 overall, and MLB Pipeline ranked him the #14 prospect in baseball. This offseason, the Dodgers were signing everyone again, as they are wont to do. On January 3, Cartaya became a roster casualty when the Dodgers DFAd him. Six days later, the Twins sent a DSL pitcher to the Dodgers and took a shot on a guy coming off of a rough age 22 season but just one year removed from being a Top 20 global prospect. As fans, I think we would encourage the front office to do the same thing the next time a similar situation happens. Cartaya started the season by going 2-for-25 (.080) with 18 strikeouts, and before April was complete, the Twins DFAd the backstop, he cleared waivers, and was outrighted to the Saints. In 13 games since coming off of the 40-man roster, he went 3-for-34 (.088) with 22 strikeouts. He has spent most of his time on the Development List which is unfortunate since Jair Camargo got injured early this season and had Tommy John surgery. SAINTS SENTINEL St. Paul, Worcester Box Score Postponed by Rain. The plan is to play two games on Thursday. It marked their 14th rainout of the season, tops in both minor-league baseball and MLB. WIND SURGE WISDOM Wichita 0, Springfield 3 Box Score A reminder that baseball can be a very humbling sport. On Tuesday night, the Wind Surge scored 12 runs on 18 hits (including seven home runs). On Wednesday night, the Wind Surge were shutout and managed just three hits, all singles. They struck out 11 times. Rubel Cespedes went 1-for-2 with a walk. Kyler Fedko went 1-for-3 with a walk. Nate Baez had the other hit. Christian MacLeod started and had six strikeouts in four innings of work. He gave up two runs on three hits and a hit batter. MacLeod threw 50 strikes in 57 pitches, an impressive 70.2% Jaylen Nowlin came on and gave up one run on two hits and a walk. In 1 2/3 innings, he had three strikeouts. Aaron Rozek came on and kept an inherited runner from scoring. The southpaw tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings. He gave up two hits, walked none and had three strikeouts. Unfortunately, this game marks the end of Gabriel Gonzalez’s 13-game hitting streak and 24-game on-base streak. KERNELS NUGGETS Cedar Rapids 5, Ft. Wayne 4 Box Score The Kernels played a matinee game in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday. They fell behind early but stayed in striking distance so that they could walk it off in the bottom of the ninth. Tanner Hall started and gave up two runs on one hit and two walks in 2 2/3 innings. He hit a batter and had three strikeouts. Lefty Wilker Reyes went the next 2 1/3 innings and gave up one run on four hits. He had two strikeouts. Jeremy Lee worked the next two innings and gave up one run on three hits. He struck out three batters without walking anyone. Samuel Perez came on and tossed two scoreless innings… while the Kernels mounted their comeback. Down 3-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Kernels started their comeback. Caden Kendle led off the inning with a walk. Maddux Houghton singled to right and advanced to second on the throw to third base. Justin Connell walked to load the bases. Kyle DeBarge lined a single to left field to drive in two runs. Fast-forward to the bottom of the eighth. The Kernels were down 4-2. Billy Amick led off with a single to left. Brandon Winokur followed with his 18th double to drive in Amick and make it 4-3. However, they were unable to drive in Winokur from second base. Perez was terrific, keeping the Kernels in the game. Heading to the bottom of the ninth down by a run, it was Kendle who got things started with a leadoff double. Houghton walked. Poncho Ruiz grounded out, but the runners were able to advance to second and third with one out. The lineup turned back over to the top, and Kyle DeBarge stepped to the plate. He lined a single to right field that drove in Kendle with the tying run, and Houghton crossed the plate as the winning run. Things haven’t seemingly come as easy for DeBarge in the second half, but on this day, he went 3-for-4 and drove in four of the team’s five runs including that walk-off winner. Kendle went 1-for-3 with a walk and his 17th double. Jaime Ferrer donned the catcher’s gear behind the plate. After twice getting hit by pitches, he may have been thinking of just wearing the gear to the plate too. Justin Connell walked twice and stole a base. MUSSEL MATTERS Fort Myers 1, Lakeland 4 Box Score Christian Becerra started for the Mussels and gave up two unearned runs on two hits and two walks in 4 2/3 innings. He had four strikeouts. Matt Gabbert came in and gave up one run on three hits in 1 1/3 innings. Ruddy Gomez worked the final two innings. He gave up one run on two hits. He hit a batter and had four strikeouts. The Mussels did very little with their bats on Wednesday. The top player was “Mussels Batter #7.” Byron Chourio started the game in left field and batting seventh. He went 2-for-2 with a double. He was later pinch run for by Angel Del Rosario who went 1-for-1 with a triple. Later, Yohander Martinez came on and went 1-for-1 with a double and the lone RBI. That spot went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a triple and the RBI. The rest of the Mussels lineup combined to go 2-for-29 (.069). Rayne Doncon hit a double. COMPLEX CHRONICLES FCL Twins, FCL Orioles Box Score Postponed by Rain. The plan is to play two games on Thursday. It is the final day of the FCL regular season. So why are they playing a doubleheader? Here are the top of the standings in the FCL South Division going into Thursday: FCL Twins 37-20 FCL Orioles 35-22 (2 games back). I wonder if the Twins won the first game if they would still play the second game. I would suspect that they still will have to play it. The playoffs are made up of four teams, the three division winners and one wild card team. In the East division, the Astros already claimed that title. In the North division, the Tigers hold a one-game lead over the Blue Jays with one more game to play. They don’t play each other. One of them will win the division. Going into Thursday, the Blue Jays and Orioles both have 35 wins. If the Twins lost both of the games, it’s possible that they would lose the tiebreaker to the Orioles. However, if they lose two games, they will have a record of 37-22. If the Jays win, they will have a record of 36-23. So, I believe that the Twins have clinched a playoff spot, it’s just a matter of if it’s as the Division winner and #1 seed (based on best record in the league) or they will be the wild card and be the #4 seed. (If you’re reading into this like me, it likely means that it is very likely that the Twins and Orioles will play a semi-final game on Saturday. Regardless, they will have Friday off and begin the playoffs on Saturday. If they win on Saturday, they would play the other semi-finals winner on Monday and again on Tuesday. If needed, a Game 3 would also take place on Tuesday. PLAYERS OF THE DAY Hitter of the Day Kyle DeBarge (Cedar Rapids): 3-for-5, 4 RBI, K (game-winner) Pitcher of the Day Aaron Rozek (Wichita): 3 1/3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 34 pitches, 23 strikes (67.6%) PROSPECT SUMMARY Check out the Prospect Tracker for much more on our Twins Top 20 prospects after seeing how they did on Wednesday. How many can you name? As of Wednesday night, the Twins had signed 19 of their 21 draft picks (and five non-drafted free agents). The two players who are yet to sign are Bruin Agbayani, their sixth-round pick out of high school in Hawaii. He's committed to Michigan. The other player is 17th round pick Jonathan Stevens, a guy who never did pitch at Alabama. He was cut a couple of times. He impressed at the Cape Cod League this summer. Two players that do have some leverage and who both are likely to sign for more than their slot values. I anticipate that both players will sign, but until they do, it's OK to be a little nervous. (Think you can pick Jason Reitz out of the group?) Please feel free to ask questions about the teams, the rosters, and discuss Wednesday’s games, or anything else Twins minor-league related! What's the rush? Gonzalez has 215 PAs in Wichita. Jenkins has 149, and Culpepper has 89. Culpepper is 22. Gonzalez is 21. Jenkins is 20. That's not to say that they couldn't be and they might be just fine with moving up, I just don't see any rush. If they move up, it's likely the organization has to release 2-3 guys from St. Paul. And it's not about those 2-3 players as it is about doing what's right for the 3 players who we all hope are a big part of their future. And, if the Twins sell several pieces, there's no reason that they couldn't call them up directly from Double-A.

Sabato is not fast. However, I noted before the season that he seems to be in the "best shape of" well, at least of his pro career. He's moving so much better.

First, a reminder to make your vote heard by ranking your Top 20 Twins prospects here. The Twins salvaged the final game in Colorado, so now they get to take on Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers in California the next three days. Three of the four full-season affiliates played games on Sunday afternoon. Wichita starts at 6:05 tonight, so this article will be updated when that game goes final. TRANSACTIONS St. Paul activated infielder Ryan Fitzgerald from the injured list. According to the Transactions page, Mickey Gasper’s ‘roster status changed.” What does that mean? It could mean any number of things, but we learned soon after that he is with the Twins, on their taxi squad. Ryan Jeffers’ wife could be having the couple’s second baby anytime over the next week. They want Gasper to be available at any time so that Jeffers can be with his wife. SAINTS SENTINEL St. Paul 6, Louisville 1 Box Score After getting shellacked in Louisville on Saturday night, the Saints responded with a very well-played game on Sunday afternoon to take the series finale. Jose Urena threw well, tossing three zeroes on the board to start the game. He gave up four hits and walked a batter but was able to wiggle out of things. Cory Lewis entered the game to start the fourth inning and provided five strong innings. He gave up one run on three hits and a walk. He also struck out six batters. Erasmus Ramirez pitched a scoreless ninth to close the door. Ryan Fitzgerald returned to the lineup, and in his first at-bat, he launched a long home run to give the Saints a 1-0 lead in the second inning. In the fourth inning, Fitzgerald singled to drive in Carson McCusker who had ld off the inning with a double. Then in the sixth inning, McCusker was on second base with Fitzgerald at the plate again. This time Fitzgerald struck out, but the ball was in the dirt, so he ran toward first, and when the catcher threw the ball errantly, McCusker scored the team’s third run. In the eighth inning, Aaron Sabato ripped a one-out triple. Due to a pitching change to a left-hander Anthony Prato pinch hit for Fitzgerald. And Prato did what Prato does. He got hit by a pitch and then stole second base. With runners on second and third, Jose Miranda hit a three-run homer to give the Saints a five-run cushion. Luke Keaschall went 2-for-5 and stole two bases. Fitzgerald was 2-for-3 with his seventh homer and two RBI. Jose Miranda went 2-for-4 with his fifth homer and three RBI. McCusker scored twice. He was 1-for-3 with a walk and his 17th double. WIND SURGE WISDOM Wichita 4, Springfield 7 Box Score Wichita fell behind early thanks to some unearned runs, but then they fell even further behind and were unable to catch up. Connor Prielipp made the start for the Win Surge. He went four innings without giving up an earned run. He gave up three hits, walked none, and had three strikeouts. Unfortunately, in the third inning, a single was followed by an error on a sacrifice bunt attempt. After a strikeout, another single loaded the bases. A sacrifice fly was followed by another single. The final out was on a caught stealing but the third run scored on the same play. Ricky Castro came in and worked two innings. He gave up three runs in the fifth frame and then a scoreless sixth. Joel Cesar struck out two batters in a scoreless seventh inning. Cole Percival gave up a run in the eighth inning. The Wind Surge went scoreless through the first five innings. Walker Jenkins led off the top of the sixth inning with a single. Gabriel Gonzalez followed with another single. With one out, Kyler Fedko hit his 13th double which drove in Jenkins with the first run. Gonzalez scored on a sacrifice fly by Nate Baez. Down 7-2 with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, Kaelen Culpepper crushed a two-run homer, his fourth since joining the Surge. Gonzalez was 2-for-3 and was hit by a pitch. Jenkins was 2-for-5. Culpepper's home run was his lone hit in five at-bats. KERNELS NUGGETS Cedar Rapids 5, Wisconsin 4 (10 innings) Box Score The Kernels took an early lead with a four-run fourth inning. Wisconsin gradually worked their way back into the game and tied it up and sent it to extra innings. Fortunately, just one extra inning was necessary. The bottom of the fourth began with singles from Danny De Andrade, Poncho Ruiz, and Kyle Hess. Hess’s single drove in De Andrade for the first run. Jaime Ferrer drove in Ruiz with a sacrifice fly. After a pitching change and a second out, Luke Napleton homered to make it 4-0. Jose Olivares started and gave up just one hit over five scoreless innings. He had three walks and struck out five batters. Kade Bragg worked the sixth inning. He gave up two runs on two hits. Herbert Perez’s 12th home run drove in both runs. Jeremy Lee pitched a scoreless seventh inning, but in the eighth, he gave up a walk, a steal and a single to decrease the lead to just 4-3. Nick Trabacchi came on with two outs and a runner on first. He gave up a walk and a single that tied the game. The game was tied 4-4. Trabacchi worked a scoreless ninth and the game went to the tenth inning. Hunter Hoopes kept the Rattlers from scoring in the top of the inning. The bottom of the 10th inning began with Kyle DeBarge on second base. He stole third base, his 49th steal of the season. With one out, Brandon Winokur singled for the walk-off win. Napleton went 2-for-4. His home run was his first with the Kernels. Winkour had two hits including the game-winner. MUSSEL MATTERS Fort Myers 9, Daytona 3 Box Score Aside from one rough inning for each team, this was a pretty well-pitched game. The difference was that the Mussels poor inning resulted in three Tortuga runs. The Mussels big offensive inning produced eight runs and gave Fort Myers a fairly comfortable lead. Anatomy of an Eight-Run Inning Bryan Acuna walked. Byron Chourio flew out. Peyton Carr singled, Acuna to third. Yohander Martinez walked. Jose Rodriguez walked. Acuna scored. 1-0. Javier Roman force out at second. Carr scored. 2-0. Dameury Pena singled. Martinex scored. 3-0. Rayne Doncon doubled. Roman and Pena scored. 5-0. Wild Pitch. Yasser Mercedes walked. Bryan Acuna walked. Byron Chourio walked. Doncon scored. 6-0. Peyton Carr singled. Mercedes and Acuna scored. 8-0. Yohander Martinez flew out. Michael Ross made the start for Fort Myers. He tossed four scoreless innings and gave up just one hit and one walk. He struck out four. Dylan Questad worked a scoreless fifth inning, but in the sixth, he gave up two singles and a walk before being removed in favor of lefty Zander Sechrist. Three batters later - a sacrifice fly, a double, and a sacrifice fly - all three inherited runners scored and cut the lead to 8-3. Sechrist went two innings and gave up two hits and two walks. Jason Stasiowski came on for the eighth. He walked the first batter and then went behind the mound, clearly affected by the 105 degree “feels-like” temperature at Hammond Stadium. After getting some water, he got back on the mound and got a double play ball. But again, feeling the heat, he was removed from the game and Julio Bonillo got the final four outs of the game. The Mussels scored their nine runs on nine hits and 13 walks. Yes, thirteen! Fort Myers native Peyton Carr led the offense. He went 3-for-4 with a walk and two RBI. Dameury Pena went 2-for-3 with two walks. Yasser Mercedes, Bryan Acuna, Byron Chourio and Jose Rodriguez each had two walks. Doncon and Mercedes each doubled. DOMINICAN DAILIES The Dominican Summer League All Star game was played on Sunday morning. Haritzon Castillo was the only DSL Twins player on the American League’s roster. He entered the game as a pinch hitter in the 8th inning and walked. He came around to score one of four runs the AL squad scored that inning in their 10-8 win. Image courtesy of William Parmeter (photo of Yohander Martinez) Your Vote Counts! Take a few minutes and help us determine the updated Minnesota Twins Top Prospect rankings. You can rank your top 20 and submit it here. TRANSACTIONS The Twins activated Zebby Matthews from the Injured List, and he started for the team on Saturday night in Colorado. To make room on the 26-man roster, Travis Adams was optioned to St. Paul. Diego Cartaya was also activated from the Saints Development List. Cedar Rapids placed Misael Urbina on the Injured List with a left hand contusion. Rayne Doncon’s rehab assignment was transferred from the FCL to the Mighty Mussels. In Friday night’s Minor League Report, Tom noted that Kaelen Culpepper left the Wichita game early. He was back at the top of the Wind Surge lineup on Saturday. Many of the Twins 2025 draft picks (and players they will be signing as non-drafted free agents) will be traveling to Fort Myers on Sunday. Presumably, the players will arrive and settle in. At some point, probably early, on Monday, they will take their physicals. I would expect we'll start hearing signing bonuses moments after the players put pen to paper. If you missed it, I chatted with ninth-round pick Justin Mitrovich, a right-handed pitcher from Elon University, on Friday about getting drafted, his amateur days, what he throws and what he's looking forward to in pro baseball. SAINTS SENTINEL St. Paul 4, Louisville 15 Box Score Marco Raya has been incredibly good for the Saints for the last month or so. Saturday night was not representative of that. Raya gave up seven runs (5 earned) on six hits (including two homers) and four walks. He had three strikeouts. It was a surprising turn after a 1-2-3 first inning that included two strikeouts. He wasn’t helped by his defense, including a throwing error of his own on a pickoff play. Jarret Whorff came on for the fifth inning. He got two outs, but gave up six runs on five hits (including two more home runs) and a walk. Pierson Ohl got the final out of the fifth inning. He gave up two runs over his 2 1/3 innings. Michael Tonkin struck out two batters in a scoreless eighth inning. In the top of the third inning, right after the Bats took their 3-0 lead, the Saints came back with three runs over their own. With one out, Anthony Prato singled and Luke Keaschall walked. Payton Eeles followed with a double that scored both runs. Austin Martin walked. Eeles scored on an Edouard Julien single. The Saints added a run in the top of the ninth to cut the deficit to 11 runs, but that was as close as they got. With one out in that inning, Prato, Keaschall and Eeles walked. After a pitching change, Martin walked to drive in Prato with the final run. Prato had two of the four Saints hits. Eeles fourth double was the lone extra base hit. The Saints also worked 10 walks. Keaschall and Martin each walked three times. WIND SURGE WISDOM Wichita 5, Springfield 4 Box Score The Wind Surge jumped out to an early lead. They led 5-1 through the middle innings and then held on at the end for the Win. Kaelen Culpepper led off the game with a fly ball to deep right-center field. The fielder impressively got to the ball, and really should have caught it, but it dropped and Culpepper reached second. Walker Jenkins followed with a line-drive single to right to put runners on first and third. Gabriel Gonzalez lined a ball up the middle to tipped off of the pitcher’s glove and went to the second baseman for an easy double play. However, Culpepper scored the game’s first run. The Surge powered their way to two runs in the second inning. Kyler Fedko led off by hitting his 18th home run. Two batters later, Rubel Cespedes lined his seventh homer over the right-field wall to make it 3-0. Still leading 3-1 after four innings, Walker Jenkins hit a two-out triple. He scored on a line-drive single to right by Gonzalez. Then in the top of the sixth, Cespedes started things with a two-out walk. Nate Baez doubled him to third. Jorel Ortega walked to load the bases. Culpepper followed with a walk to drive in the team’s fifth run. That was it for the Wind Surge offense, at least in terms of scoring runs. Let’s jump to the pitching. Minnesotan John Klein made the start and gave up just one run through the first four innings. He gave up four hits, walked one and recorded an impressive six strikeouts. He was consistently hitting 95 mph with the fastball. Jacob Wosinski came on and pitched a scoreless fifth inning. Then Aaron Rozek came in and tossed the next three innings. He was charged with three runs on four hits and a walk. He struck out three batters. With the lead down to just one run, John Stankiewicz earned his fourth save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning. Walker Jenkins went 3-for-5 with his first triple. Rubel Cespedes went 2-for-2 with two walks, his 16th double and his seventh home run. KERNELS NUGGETS Cedar Rapids 0, Wisconsin 10 Box Score I think it’s fair to say that this was not the Kernels’ finest performance of the year. The pitching wasn’t terribly good. Alejandro Hidalgo started and in three innings (plus two batters in the fourth), he gave up seven runs (5 earned) on eight hits and a walk. Samuel Perez allowed the inherited runner to score but gave up none of his own runs over two innings. Logan Whitaker gave up one run on two hits over two innings. He had two strikeouts. Wilker Reyes gave up two runs on three hits and a walk over the final two innings. He struck out three batters. Kyle DeBarge and Brandon Winokur each had a single, the lone Kernels hits. Andy Lugo and Luke Napleton each walked. Winokur stole his 21st base. MUSSEL MATTERS Fort Myers 5, Daytona 4 (10 innings) Box Score Fort Myers fell down 4-1, worked their way back, tied it up and won it in extra innings. It was a great way to celebrate Walker Jenkins bobblehead day! Dasan Hill, the lanky lefty drafted one year ago, has really struggled to throw strikes of late. That was on full display on Saturday night. Hill went the first three innings, and despite giving up three hits and SIX walks, he gave up just two runs. Of his 66 pitches, just 30 were strikes. Concerning? Sure. Yet, somehow, he has been able to limit damage most of the time. Jason Doktorcyzk came on and gave up two runs over four innings, both came in the fourth inning. Matt Gabbert pitched scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth. The Mussels actually took the first lead with a run in the first inning. After a walk and a single, Caleb McNeely grounded into a double play, but it scored Byron Chourio with the first run. Down 4-1 in the fifth, Angel Del Rosario hit a ground-rule double and scored on a single by Jefferson Valladeres. Down 4-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Bryan Acuna started things with a one-out walk. Peyton Carr singled to right to put runners on first and third. Blaze O’Saben drove in Acuna with a single to make it 4-3. Angel Del Rosario beat out a potential double play which allowed Carr to score the tying run. Lefty Brennen Oxford worked a scoreless top of the 10th inning. It is more impressive when a wild pitch pushed the Manfred Man to third base before there was one out. Oxford struck out the next two batters before getting the third out on a ground ball. The bottom of the 10th inning began with Acuna on second base. Carr walked, but the next two batters got out without advancing the runners. Fortunately, with two outs, Yohander Martinez came through with a single that drove in Acuna with the winning run. Along with the game-winner, Martinez added his sixth double of the season. Acuna hit his first Mussels double to go with his walk. Valladeres went 2-for-4. Byron Chourio went 1-for-3 with two walks. COMPLEX CHRONICLES FCL Twins 2, FCL Red Sox 3 Box Score In the bottom of the first inning, the Twins put two on the board. With one out, Jay Thomason walked. He stole second and third, and after Daiber De Los Santos walked, Thomason scored on a wild pitch. Jayson Bass walked. With two outs, an Irvin Nunez single drove in De Los Santos with the second run. That was about it for the Twins offense. Over the next eight innings, they managed just two hits (Carlos Silva and Jayson Bass). Silva was hit by a pitch, and Luis Fragoza was plunked twice. The rehabbing-Thomason walked two more times, and De Los Santos walked once more. Thomason stole three bases. Over his past two rehab games, he has four walks and five steals. Hendry Chivilli made the start for the Twins. He walked one in the first but no runs allows. He walked two in the second inning, but again worked out of it without a run scoring. The third inning began with a double and a walk at which point Xander Hamilton came into the game. After a walk, he struck out the next two batters. Unfortunately, a slow roller toward short was an infield single and the run charged to Chivilli. Hamilton struck out two more in a perfect fourth inning. Leonardo Rondon came in for the fifth frame. He gave up two runs on two hits, both runs scoring on a home run. Anthony Narvaez recorded four outs without giving up a run. DOMINICAN DAILIES The Dominican Summer League All Star game will be played starting at 9:00 am central time. In the AL vs NL game, there are 37 players on each roster. Almost inexplicably, the lone Twins representative is infielder Haritzon Castillo. The 17-year-old from Venezuela is hitting .310/.441/.483 (.924) with six doubles, three triples, a homer and 26 RBI in 26 games. He signed with the Twins in February for about $950,000. There are certainly others who are worthy of a spot on the All Star squad. Maybe Carlos Taveras would have been on the roster. Unfortunately, he was placed on the 60-Day IL recently. Taveras signed for $1.2 million this spring. Of the hitters who have played in more than half of the team’s 34 games this season, seven of them have an OPS over .800. On the mound, Santiago Castellanos and his upper-90s fastball at age 16 would represent the Twins well.
