  1. I don't trust Molitor to be better at anything compared to Gardy. Why should he be, because he's from St Paul? Identify an upgrade, then hire him. Don't fire Gardy just to fire him.
  2. Pyth. +/- would seem to speak to in-game managing skill. There is also the question of how the runs scored / runs scored + runs allowed equation comes to be. Baseball prospectus has a statistic called Defensive EFficiency (H-HR)/(AB-SO-HR+SH+SF). The Rays are consistently among the top 1 or 2 teams in Defensive Efficiency due to their shifts - employed by the Maddon braintrust. They score even better when you factor in park effects. edit: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/glossary/index.php?search=DEF_EFF
  3. I agree with you Gernzy, and I would question the idea that 1.8 million sold tickets as of last Saturday is very muted at all. I wonder what sales were last year at this time?
  4. Is it a fact that the Twins have not done the little things well?
  5. OK now stubhub is telling me there is in fact no minimum price. Also there is a new "MLB Transfer fee" of $1.50 per transaction Also saying the deliver fee is $2. Not $2.25
  6. I look forward to watching any changes in Revere's batted ball rates. Coaches here, and Revere himself, were always saying he needs to "hit the ball on the ground."
  7. Trevor's June 2012 was almost as good as Delmon's July 2010.
  8. Good, shut him down for 6 weeks then.
  9. I suspect the whole premise for having Butera on the roster is to carry *only* 12 pitchers, given Butera's history of being able to get one or two starters on track and hold them there during the season. Pavano in 2010 and Liriano in 2012 being the best (only?) examples. I would be surprised if they have Butera and 13 pitchers.
  10. I looked it up. I paid $10.45 in fees per transaction last year. Now fees are going to be half that, on tickets under $10 anyway. $3 min. sounds like a net win for everybody actually. $6, not so much.
  11. I know there is some flexibility for teams to do their own thing but are you sure? This says the min. is actually $6 http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8732189/major-league-baseball-stubhub-renew-secondary-ticket-market-deal
  12. Well they are losing two pretty good tablesetters. The more I think about it, this team might be smart to move everyone up. Mauer 1, Willingham 2, etc. Get Mauer up there in the 1st with bases empty and no outs, instead of bases empty and 2 outs.
  13. You better hope those tix aren't sold before you buy them. A guy can sell his tickets for download to someone on stubhub, then take the physical tix to the corner, and sell those too.
  14. Correia's ERA- over the last 3 years is 129. 158th of all SPs in that timeframe (min 200 IP)
  15. Yeah that is pretty bad. He meant "appearances," and "7 innings."
  16. At least wait till the season is, mathematically, a lost cause. Punting from Day 1 to get that pesky 7th year, when they guy is your best CF and leadoff option, is laughably premature. And, in the unlikely event that the TWins are any good this year, then they can wait till he sprains an ankle or goes 3-40. Send him down for 2 weeks to find his stroke or to rehab. I just can't stand any of this big planning. Nothing ever goes to plan.
  17. 5 years? Hell, that solves it. if he's the best CF or leadoff man out of ST then there's no reason not to bring him north. Unless you really really want to win super 2 status I guess.
  18. I realize everyone on this site has already chalked up 2013 to a "lost cause" but am I reading this correctly, that the Twins could start Hicks in 2018 in AAA for 2 weeks instead of doing it this year, and achieve the same effect that way? That is of course assuming the 2017 CBA doesn't change things.
  19. Am I the only one that thinks these figures seem high?
  20. I would be curious to know what sort of reputation Sano's handler had at the time.
  21. That would make sense. Must be that 81% of season "ticketholders" renewed, but actual sales were only 76% compared to last year.
  22. This 81% figure came up again on your podcast this week John. Maybe St Peter arrived at that figure because some people changed their plans from full season to partial-season, and thus aren't counted in your 19,000 figure of full-season ticket sales above?
  23. Baseball and stubhub have a contract. There is a fixed percentage of stubhub's service fees, 10% or something, that the team gets back.
