  1. Hoffman is an elite arm. Giving up Dason Hill definitely is a loss. But with the control and discounted salary next year, I think this is a positive addition. If things go south for the team this year they can trade him over the winter or the deadline next year and get prospects back.
  2. If you want to compete you have to at least have some experienced veteran journeyman arms in your pen. Orze, Adams, Voth, etc just weren't providing that. Overall, this is a low wattage move but Twins have had some pass success finding some nuggets. Also, Nance didn't debut until he was 30 y.o. so he still has 3 years of control. They also received some international bonus pool money which can be a big deal when trying to sign those prospects.
  3. I wonder if Jordan Balazavic could be an option as well?
