  1. If you're the Twins you hope one of the top pitchers either Manaea, Stanek or Appel fall to you. If that doesn't work I'd be fine with Frazier, Meadows or even Kohl Stewart who could be an intriguing prospect who plays multiple positions including pitcher.
  2. I would rather him stay in the outfield. First I think he's too athletic to not keep in the outfield. Second what is he, a year or two behind Sano? I think long term Sano ends up at first and this would essentially be blocking Kepler's path to MN. Granted there are still things that could go wrong with either one of these prospects
  3. From Texas I would want either Profar or Andrus with Perez and their top catching prospect Alfaro. Only way I'd ever consider trading Mauer because it fills all our needs right now.
  4. Roenicke seems like a great pick up. He put up a 3.25 ERA while pitching the majority of his games at Coors Field. He seems like a better option then many of our current relievers.
  5. Ok let's be honest the chances of the twins even thinking about Sanchez is 0%. The twins love control pitchers who pound the strike zone. Unless Ryan is willing to change philosophies I don't see that one happening. The other ones are intriguing I'd love to see Hernandez (formerly Carmona) in a twins uniform. I think his problem this season was the fact he didn't get a full spring training with the Indians staff. After an off season of healing and a solid spring to get ready he could be a steal for the twins.
  6. I think the answer lies somewhere in between the two scenarios. I think we need to trade our depth (OF) for our weaknesses (SP and Middle infield). And also I would say trade Morneau and let Parmalee handle 1B next year. His value probably won't get much higher so trade him now Ecspecially with a weak 1B crop of FA's. Keep willingham though he's a true power threat in the middle of our order.
  7. We don't need more OF's. He's an average outfielder at best, a little better then Willingham out there and not as good of a hitter. Focus on pitching and use internal options in the outfield
  8. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8391985/minnesota-twins-joe-mauer-ignores-critics-extends-career-espn-magazine Great article about Mauer on ESPN
  9. They'll use him. He's a dynamite pitcher who has put up gaudy numbers without his best pitch. He dominated the high-school ranks with a cut fastball as his out pitch. This year the O's asked him to shelve it to work on his off speed pitches and his 4-seamer. If they let him use it in the big leagues he could be a handy bullpen piece come playoff time. Similar to what the Rays did with David Price a few years back... It also won't hurt him to get a taste of a pennant race
  10. While Mauer and Doumit are out I'd start him every game just to see what he's got. He can't do any worse then what Butera has been doing the past two years. You know what you have in Butera, a decent fielding weak batting catcher, why not find out what you have in Herrman?
  11. will be interesting to see if Boston is a potential suitor for Morneau. They are really gonna need that middle of the lineup bat if this trade goes through
  12. I'd be surprised if Correa signed below slot. In an article on ESPN it said he's a 4.0 GPA student and has committed to University of Miami and is prepared to go that route. On the other hand he does come from a poorer family in Puerto Rico and it would be hard to turn down those millions. He's the guy I think the Twins should draft. He offers a high ceiling similar to Buxton, and even if he has to move to 3B I've heard some people say Sano is a better fit at 1B or corner outfield
  13. I was surprised at how compact his swing is and yes you are right his weight transfer is pretty early. The other thing i noticed is that sometimes his swing tend to be more loopy then flat through the zone. In the video he pops up a couple of pitches in the game and it looks like his bat is looping into an uppercut swing instead of staying flat
  14. I will agree Barrett at 32 is a reach. The reason I like him is that he seems like he could anchor the back end of the bullpen. And I don't see Capps being around in a year or two. I will also agree a high upside high school pitcher would be a great fit at 32 and 42. At some point in their first 3 picks the twins are going to have to go with pitching as its our biggest need
  15. I know Buxton has a high ceiling but to me Correa has a very high ceiling as well and would fit more of a need for the twins. I've heard both sides of the argument that he could stay at ss because he's athletic and has a plus arm or move to 3b because of his size. Either way I like him over Buxton. At 32 there's a couple of different options. Jake Barrett of ASU because he seems like a quick to the majors reliever or develop into a starter. I've also seen some people discuss the possibility of Stryker Trahan falling and being available at 32 which would give the twins a young high school catcher to develop
  16. First off when he says Baxter he means Byron Buxton the consensus number one pick. Second the guys in the Dominican aren't part of the upcoming draft. If they were many of them would be taken over U.S. players. Like people before me said, they are basically on an open market for teams to try and sign them.
  17. Personally I like Gausman at 2, good hard throwing front line starter. If Trahan or Giolito fall to 32 they're the obvious pick there, other then that Jake Barrett out of ASU and Patrick Ramsey of FSU are all viable options in the sandwich round. Ramsey is a possibility because the Twins have taken him before and Barrett seems like a quick to the Majors bullpen arm the Twins could use.
