  1. What ever happened to Butera? :~). Call a game ... blah, blah, blah
  2. When a team has a large number of young players under contract, all heading for the same goal, it is not be unusual for coaches/Mgrs/FO/and players/fans/writers/agents to have differences of opinion about who will be productive MLB players and lead their teams to the WS and how they will get there. Also, none is perfect and progress at different rates.
  3. "Developing" pitchers SB done way before Rick Anderson ever sees them. He may be in a position to tweak skills but the majority of "developing" cannot be accomplished at the MLB level.
  4. What is there to lose? If he left and managed to mature into a winning pitcher, then the fan base would really jump on Twins management.
  5. Who said "when Hunter talks about Hunter, he is speaking about his favorite subject"? Whomever, he/she is wise person! Concussions are not the same as Hunters thesore toe. Those who have Mauer penciled as a Twins first baseman, are thinking too far ahead. Think Mourneau or others and the long-term effects of concussions.
  6. Honest Mistakes Or Differences In Judgement Can Be Accepted. But, The Percentage Of Discrepancy IS Too Great For This To Be Purely "Honest Mistakes". If Technology Was Used Immediately After Each Game To Evaluate The Calls, And Umps Were Then Penalized FinancialLy For Bad Balls&StrikeS, They Would Get It Right .... Or $Uffer.
  7. MLB should UsE Robots Only To Evaluate Individual Umps Balls And Strikes Performance After Each Game ... With Umpire Compensation Based Partially On Their CompetAnce. There Should Not Be So Much Disparity In What Teams Receive From Umps. Certainly If The Twins Were Receiving The Same Breaks From UmP's As The Brewers, The W/L Record Would Be Better. (Sorry About The Capital Letters But I Have Not Found A Guru).
  8. More Probable There Are No Managerial Changes.
  9. If The Twins Did Not Want Mourneau Now, Why Would The Want Him Next Winter?
  10. No Deal. Morneau Still An Important Twin.
  11. No Faul Or Blame Assigned. Sometimes It Is A Person Falling Into A Rut And Need A Change Of Scenery. Maybe Lariano Even HAd An Issue We Are Not Aware Of? Anyone Know Why Every Word I Type Gets The First Letter Capitalized when I Hit The Spacebar???????
  12. Itchy Trigger Fingers Here. What Does A Career AAAA HR Hitter Bring?
  13. LosinG takes A toLl On A Team. You Are Just Hearing Frustration. To Gardy's Credit He Is Not Taking It Out On His Team. (What The Hell Causes These Misplaced Capital LetterRs ... Anyone Else Have That Issue)?
  14. Misleading? A grab bag is like a lottery, nobody knows what they get which is maybe not much at all. Of course the P family makes $$$. If they did not the Twins would be owned by somebody else ... or maybe someplace else. As owners, we could have way worse.
  15. I think he will be a bright spot in the Twins lineup.
  16. Remember, when McGuire and Sosa were banging HR's the emphasis was how are the balls being juiced. At least among us naive people there was no assumption there were HR pills.
  17. Biggentleben, Jack Morris did not pitch MLB in the 60's. A 17 year career started in 1977. No one ever accused me of being an honor student, but if it turned out a class valedictorian cheated for his/her grades would you still honor the achievement? Of course not. If you discovered a quarter of that class was also cheating you may not know every single cheater. But you would certainly know when career "C" students suddenly vaulted to the top of their class that there was funny business going on. So how do you honor them? Create a special award for the best cheaters? Honoring cheating dishonors the Killebrews who did not cheat. It also dishonors the Jack Morris' because if he was competing against his numbers are unfairly reduced.
  18. How can anyone vote for dishonest numbers? How can anyone determine what the honest numbers really are? It is not likely that guys between 35 and 39 can hit with so much more power than between 25 and 29? The score is 175 HRs in his late 20's and 258 HR's in his late 30's for anyone interested.
  19. Opinion: writers who send empty ballots back maybe ought to forfeit their next years voting rights. If they cannot make decisions on the candidates they ought not skew the results by an empty ballot.
  20. I would vote for Jack Morris in a heartbeat. Ace of three WS winning pitching staffs? Longevity? Feared? He should have already been elected. How do Barry Bonds pre-hormone days compare with with Tony Oliva? Tony O played 1600+ games, career BA .300+, etc. If writers cannot elect Tony O because "his career was too short", how many games did Bonds play before he started to cheat? How do those stats compare?
  21. Known cheaters should not be in the Hall. If there are people who slipped in, it is unfortunate. But, if known cheaters are allowed in then, where do you draw the line? Remember, there are many ways of cheating. Some not even invented yet. You destroy the integrity of what it takes to get in if you allow cheaters in. Lets say Sosa has 70 HR's with enhancers but someone else has 35 per year in the same era (or maybe before) and not judged Hall material. Who can really say what Sosa would have hit without? Maybe his performance would be less than the 35 homer guy? So given that you do not know ... and there is liklihood guys understate usage they can't be in the Hall.
  22. How can anyone be positive what Bonds - McGuire performance would be without enhancement drugs? Sosa and McGuire 70 HR's at what 35+? How many people, athletes or no , can perform better at 35 to 40 than 25 to 30? No, the folks on that list are simply out of the Hall. The Hall is a unique honor. You cannot cheat to get in. Players like Oliva and Kaat are off the list for flimsy reasons too. Hall voters were unconvinced either were truly among the elite. I disagree. They passed the eyeball test for me and i can find less impressive players who are in the Hall. If you open the Hall to cheaters, where do you draw the line?
  23. I have had three rotator cuff surgeries in the past 11 years. The first was described as large, the next was bigger, and the last one (all by the same surgeon) was was said to be way bigger. I do not know how these compare to what Harden had, or anyone elses either. In fact it was never explained to me why my tears were considered large to huge. I would say returning to high performance would be very ambitious unless his is a small tear. Lets hope for the best.
  24. Maybe someone can explain why there are 72 comments but suddenly I can read only one? I had the issue earlier today but later it appeared to be fixed.
