  1. It worked for Sidney Ponson. It also had the side benefit of providing sustenance between innings should he become famished.

  3. Plouffe is making nothing and has no replacement. I wouldn't trade him.
  4. You're trying to convince me of something I already said I agreed with.
  5. Your larger point is right, but your final conclusion is blowing it a bit out of proportion. K/9 and K% have a very, very, strong correlation to each other. K/9 isn't obsolete, it's just ever so slightly worse than K%.
  6. I see, I thought that the "deleted post" message was viewable by everybody. They were originally replies #7 and 8.
  7. Yes, if you're going to punt free agency you need to compensate elsewhere.
  8. Do you see those two post deleted by Brock? That "line" we talked about, they were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over it. A 3-day ban was beyond generous given their content.
  9. I think everybody just collectively *sighed* and decided there had been enough trauma for one night.
  10. I've always found this one to be a good read. Run Estimation for the Masses
  11. There's only one. SSS
  12. He certainly could be either of those things, or various others as well. What are you going to have if you do nothing? Just more nothing. Payroll savings? Irrelevant at this point and for the foreseeable future. Blocked prospects? Yeah....not an issue. I'm not looking forward to 2014's Mike Pelfrey, or 2015's, or 2016's, and so on. All largely wasted dollars that could have gone toward a single high quality player. But hey, we don't have to worry about overpaying them in year three! We'll just overpay them one year at a time instead. You're way too hung up on the possibility of overpaying someone at the back end of a contract.

  14. It sure would be awful to have the services of a very good pitcher now who may or may not be merely ok later, rather than lousy pitchers now and 2018's version of Mike Pelfrey later. Oh the horror.
  15. A strikeout is the best way to not allow a hit, yes?
  16. Fielding %, even on its best day, makes for a pretty lousy measure of overall defensive quality.
  17. You're not going to get a 3-4 WAR pitcher for $12 million per year, you're underselling his open-market value.
  18. Someone inform Plouffe he's not allowed to get hits w/RISP, it's been proven that all he does is hit solo homers.
  19. Sounds good to me, the only thing I've got at the moment are some 6-month-old Mich Golden Lights. The good news is they aren't any worse now than the day I bought them.
  20. The only thing you're catching in there is the clap.
  21. Twins starter records strikeout. Drink. Swinging. Finish drink.
  22. That low? Don't undersell yourself.
