  1. I wonder if the Twins have done a cost benefit analysis on leasing their own MRI scanner .... or at least have negotiated some kind of whopping group discount.
  2. I agree with TwinsGuy55422 -- better now than a couple of months from now. I still wish him well, though.
  3. I don't know what to think about this. Are the doctors telling him that he is "healthy" and free to go all out but he is simply unable to trust his body (and his mind). Or is he having recurring symptoms that the doctors recognize as concussion-related but not endangering his health? I suppose that there is a chance that repeated "good" days in practice will alleviate his fears enough so that he can still function as a major league ballplayer but that seems a longshot. I wish him all the best. At this point, it seems like he is fighting a battle on two fronts -- his actual concussion symptoms and what he perceives as concussion symptoms. While I don't think that is unusual, it does sound as though the latter may be Justin's biggest enemy.
  4. Ten. I was going to go with 12 in 2012 but I think that's too high.
  5. Wow. Thanks for sharing this -- it made my (snowy) day!
  6. I've noticed the celebratory tweets from players asserting that Braun is innocent and totally exonerated. But it sounds more like "not guilty" than "innocent" to me. Fed Ex/Kinkos was thought to be closed so the sample had to be refrigerated overnight? Why in the world can't MLB ensure that procedures are followed? I hope MLB learned a HUGE lesson from this mess.
  7. The "technicality" explains why the test results were leaked. This whole thing has been a mess. Braun doesn't look "innocent". MLB looks incompetent. Testing lab looks irresponsible. Just when baseball looked like they were making progress on steroids, etc., this case now looks bad for everyone involved.
  8. Wasn't 2010 the year that Span had the inner ear problem (or whatever it was)? I never fully understood whether some of his problems last year related back to the earlier problem or whether it was a totally new/different concussion problem. Nevertheless, I am somewhat optimistic about Span -- maybe because his tweets sound pretty "businesslike" about his workouts.
  9. While I never doubt the Tigers ability to implode, it seems to me that their prime competition isn't the Twins. Can Cleveland or Kansas City put it together this year? Great opportunities for them should the Tigers manage to do a number on themselves. Does that mean the Twins have NO chance? Of course not but an awful lot of things have to go right for the Twins to be a contender.
  10. I'd love to see Justin Morneau playing the way he did in the first part of 2010. In many ways, I've felt that he was the heart and soul of this club -- much more so than Mauer who seems like a bit of an automaton to me. But Nick is right, it isn't just the concussion. It is the wrist. It is the pinched nerve. It just feels as though his body is letting him down -- as though he were 40 instead of 30. I don't blame him for not retiring before this season but I do think that he may have to face some hard truths this spring -- and decide how much risk he wants to take with the rest of his life. Scary prospect.
