  1. C'mon Perk .... let's wrap this up quickly. No Drama.
  2. For a game against the Yankees, this game is moving right along.
  3. LENIII also says the 3 HR are a season high.
  4. Mind boggling to see the Twins with a 3-run lead in Yankee Stadium.
  5. I thought it was because the Deduno's catcher tends to get a little beat up and they don't want to expose Suzuki to that.
  6. Okay, Nolasco, Arcia got you one big one.
  7. I don't know if its nothing .... or something. We'll know more down the road. And what has happened with the deluge of injuries (and other factors) in CF is a reminder that there's very little certainty.
  8. It's really not a question of interest but of seeing it as something predictive -- or rather, of trying to draw conclusions from a minuscule sample size. I wasn't surprised to see them start him in CF (especially given the current CF situation). I also won't be surprised to see them play him at 2nd.
  9. I don't think one game constitutes much of an admission of anything. We need to wait and see how this plays out over a more significant period of time.
  10. I'm not assuming anything. I dislike the use of the word "vicitimize". It implies that the opposition did something wrong instead of simply taking advantage of perfectly legitimate strategy. Rather than whining about it (and I realize this was Bremer not an official Twins spokesman), the Twins need to do the same and take advantage of all legitimate strategies that are available to them.
  11. RandBall ‏@RandBall 2m It's been exactly 4 weeks since Jason Kubel had an RBI or an extra base hit. 9 for 60 in that span, .150 slugging. How long can this keep going on?
  12. I, too, was struck by the use of the word "victimized" -- I hope that this was just a Bremerism and not a word that is used generally by the Twins. Mauer has to make adjustments. Mauer needs to take advantage of all available information and technology in deciding how to make those adjustments. The Twins need to take advantage of information and technology to "victimize" the opposition's batters.
  13. Actually, in comparing 2014 to his career stats, his hitting with RISP is off significantly this year. I'm a little confused about how bref shows it but here are a couple of lines: 2014 BA/OBP/SLG/OPS RISP 32 games .189/.373/.378/.751 ..... 46 games .279/.310/.315/.626 (this is the line I don't get - what is ....) Career 877 gms .329/.452/.477/.928 ,.... 1155 gms .311/.374/.460/.834 Anyway you look at it, it's a pretty significant dropoff. It is human nature to remember the failures -- especially the failures in the late innings. There is a lot of cause for concern about Mauer -- just not much any of us can do about it.
  14. Phil Mackey ‏@PhilMackey 9h Per @Fangraphs, Mauer has been worth $500,000 so far this year. He was worth $26 million and $22m in 2013 and 2012. (D and position matter) If you annualize that, it puts his value at about 1.543 million. Now, I would expect that to go up somewhat but would it go up enough to entice a team to trade something good for him without the Twins kicking in a fairly substantial amount of cash? I highly doubt it. I'm not advocating trying to trade Mauer. I think the Twins have to make the best of the situation they have because unless your GM is Dave Dombrowski, I don't see how you come out of this smelling very rosy.
  15. I strongly doubt that given his change of position and his salary. I think any trade would have to have a pretty good financial contribution from the Twins a la the Fielder deal with Texas.
  16. Well, that isn't how a beautiful day at the ballpark should end for the home team.
  17. Hicks' back must not feel too bad.
  18. Hallelujah ... thank you Mr. Willingham.
  19. I don't expect Mauer to scream and shout. I just don't want Mauer's stoicism to act as a damper on the players that do want to scream and shout. That is one of the things that seems a little bit different this year with Suzuki and the younger players ... they seem a little more willing/able to let loose with emotion.
  20. And Danny tries to get something started ....
  21. Baby pigs are cute .... then they grow up to be snorting, stinky hogs.
  22. And Josmil gets a chance to be a hero.
  23. Now would be a fine time for Kubel to get some mojo.
