You ever get the curtains bought, Ashbury?
  2. JB_Iowa
Why does it feel like a victory that the Yankees only scored 2 there??
  3. JB_Iowa
    Lowering my standards are you????
  4. JB_Iowa
I guess Fuld can only make that catch once in an inning.

After it was so nice the last few days, I guess it was just a kick in the b*tt to remind me that this is Iowa. But, in the words of every farmer I know, it is great for the corn -- you can almost hear it grow.

Fuld with a nice catch there.

I look forward to the day when Nolasco doesn't allow a baserunner in the 1st inning.

OTOH, just looked at the forecast and it looks like it is heading back down to the mid-80's for the rest of the week. Nice for the 1st part of July.
  9. JB_Iowa
So far its 92 with about 50% humidity but I suspect it will go higher. Feels like cr*p after it was so nice the last 4 or 5 days (low 80's, low humidity). Wasn't ready for this again.

Today is one of those days when I wonder why anyone likes summer.

    Terry Steinbach -- 1.000 winning pct. 5-0 (3 Gardy ejections, 2 absences).
  12. JB_Iowa
    Somehow that's a fitting ending.
  13. JB_Iowa
    So close to ending this.

    Cola!!!
  15. JB_Iowa
    Bah, humbug.
  16. JB_Iowa
Don't piddle around now. Just get this game over with this 1/2 inning.

Glad you woke up for Willy's homerrun.

The Twins haven't started their possible sale yet, but they are starting to tell teams that if they aren't contending later this month they'll make outfielder Josh Willingham and right-handed starter Kevin Correia available, as both are free-agent eligible after the year. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/24608603/willingham-correia-expected-to-hit-market-barring-twins-turnaround

How many photographers have you seen w/gear in the middle of a buffalo herd in the 1870's???????

Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino 37s Appears Gardy wanted a balk call on David Phelps on that no-step pickoff throw on Fuld
  21. JB_Iowa
Gardy must have wanted out of the heat and humidity today.
  22. JB_Iowa
Gardenhire ejected ... that should ensure a Twins win today.

Ripken did have one (and got some fairly nice foundation donations): http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/bal-ripken-farewelltour,0,655645.htmlstory But the deluge of the last 3 years is pretty rare. Like I say, I could have seen one for Thome even though he spent time w/different teams at the end. I think the league would have liked to honor him that way but I also think he's the type who wouldn't have wanted the pomp and circumstance.

Hey ChiTown .... interesting story on farewell tours. I didn't even remember the Chipper Jones one (not surprisingly). http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1974353-are-early-retirement-announcements-farewell-tours-destined-to-be-an-mlb-trend

But this is Paul Konerko's final season. I don't think other teams in the league have been giving him a farewell but I would hope that we see one from the Twins later in the season. They could give him a big thorn ... cuz Paulie has definitely been one in the side of the Twins.
