  1. Deduno and Albers were the Twins best starters statistically last year, Worley was behind everybody but Cole Devries. I hope Worley can improve this year but I'd have him behind Deduno, Diamond and Albers.
  2. I'd rather it was Worley, considering Albers had the best 2 starts of the Twins season last year.
  3. Sorry for the ugly table it looked okay when I posted but I must need to format it somehow. Not sure.
  4. For those wondering what the Twins staff numbers are, here they are Whip Ave Slugging OPS K/BB Andrew Albers 0.99 .241 .362 .620 6.67 (1st in all categories) Sam Deduno 1.35 .259 .375 .714 1.63 (2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd,5th) Kevin Correia 1.41 .297 .465 .821 2.41 (3rd, 4th, 4th, 4th, 2nd) Mike Pelfrey 1.50 .292 .423 .773 1.83 (4th, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd) Liam Hendriks 1.53 .302 .504 .847 1.63 (5th, 5th, 8th, 5th, 6th) Scott Diamond 1.55 .311 .503 .859 1.45 (6th, 8th, 7th, 6th, 7th) Pedro Hernandez 1.59 .308 .506 .869 1.38 (7th, 6th, 9th, 7th, 9th) Kyle Gibson 1.75 .327 .479 . 874 1.45 (8th, 9th, 5th, 8th, 8th) PJ Walters 1.75 .311 .494 .876 1.22 (9th, 7th, 6th, 9th, 10th) Vance Worley 1.99 .381 .577 1.004 1.67 (10th, 10, 10, 10th, 4th)

  6. Was happy for his bounce back start against the Jays and thought it might be fun to compare his short 7 start career against the rest of the Twins starters and when the numbers looked so ridiculous I decided to try against all the qualified American League starters. I know SSS but I think you'll still be shocked, I know I was. Albers whip of 0.99 would rank 2nd in the American League just behind Max Scherzer's 0.94. That's right better than Darvish, Sanchez, Hernandez and every other starter in the American League. His K/BB rate of 6.67 would rank 1st ahead of David Price 5.55 Chris Sale 4.92 and Felix Hernandez 4.88 (Considering he's not striking very many out this one shocked me) His OPS against of .620 would rank 4th just behind Yu Darvish .610 He's Tied for 6th in shutouts with 1 (Could possibly be tied for 3rd if he was allowed to finish his first start) His OBP against of .258 would be 2nd to Max Scherzer's .248 His Slug Pct against of .362 would be 7th behind Felix Hernandez .360 I'm not saying he's an ace obviously, and he could come crashing down to earth, but gotta say I'm enjoying it while it lasts.
  7. Having Rosario able to play CF and 2nd base allows tons of flexibility for the future. It allows him to come up quicker when there is an opening in either the outfield or 2nd if Dozier moves to SS.
  8. Ya those numbers are even better than video game numbers. On a side note was thinking that the Yankees would go after him since he's slugging .883 in the new Yankee stadium (2009 season-now) and has an ops of 1.391. That place fits him like a glove.
  9. I know there are guys on here that are good at dissecting swings. Has his swing really changed since the end of July as Smalley suggested or is it something else such as punishing more mistake pitches or guessing better or laying off pitches outside forcing pitchers to pitch him more inside? The reason I ask is just a hunch as I looked at his stats with the bases loaded. He's 10 for 13 this year hitting .769 with an astronomical ops of 1.918. The theory is with the bases loaded he knows he's going to get good pitches (less outside off of the plate) otherwise the pitcher walks in a run, so he's squaring up. Now (during his improved August) if he is laying off of the outside pitches that were his kryptonite earlier this year, pitchers are having to pitch more inside and he is squaring up the inside pitches. Just a guess can anyone prove it?
  10. If the O's are trying to get both Willingham and Morneau then would Dylan Bundy be on the table? Considering he just had Tommy John surgery, still think he would be worth the risk if offered.
  11. Parker Bridwell or Daniel Ayers might be interesting. Other than that not sure who the Twins might realistically get back. Also for those interested, baltimoresportsandlife has a top 30 midseason prospect writeup for the orioles.
  12. If they could get Tyler Glasnow, it might rank as one of TR best trades ever. Don't think there's much chance though. Can't believe what he got for Butera so could always hope.
  13. If Morneau was traded to the Pirates who would you want back? They've got a few low level pitchers that sound interesting. Tyler Glasnow being one. Checkout bucsdugout and yahoo's pirates board for some fun reading.
  14. I think he can get to the numbers I suggested if he has strong defense in the infield and outfield. If he doesn't I agree it could get bad for him. Pitch to contact only works with strong defense, getting ahead in the count and changing speeds a lot. I hope he doesn't regress too far from his minor league career numbers, but like I said I'd be more than happy if he posted the numbers I listed. If he did even better and matched his minor league numbers I'd be ecstatic. By the way I asked what numbers would make you happy, not how you could find something else to bitch about on TD or put a negative spin on a positive story. Dr. Jim not to attack you, but you couldn't see Albers coming up at all from the posts I remember, never mind giving the Twins the 2 best starts of their season.
  15. So far 2-0 with 0.00 Era 0.40 Whip and .105 opp ave. In his combined minor league career (not including independent ball in which he was 3-0) he's 25-10 with a 2.86 Era and a 1.18 Whip. Realistically I'd be more than happy with 14-10 with a 3.22 Era and a whip of 1.24 What numbers would work for you?
  16. Firstly congrats to Albers. Liked his interview and Collabello's and Herrmann's as well. Hoping Deduno follows suit today with more of the same (opposing batters weak contact). Now the question, was it right to not let him finish or was Gardy right to protect his arm? It wasn't quite the no hitter like Kevin Slowey when he was pulled, but I think as much as I want to criticize this decision, I really can't. Also was that the longest start of the year for a Twins pitcher or has anyone had a longer start? Thoughts?
  17. The trend continues as Justin is now up to .320 ave, .368 obp, .536 slugging, and .905 OPS at home.
  18. 53 + 46 = 99 total games which is over 61 percent of the season. That's not a small sample size. That's unless you consider almost 2/3rds of a season a small sample size for the season.
  19. If you guessed Justin Morneau you'd be correct. A couple of months ago I posted about his weird splits home and away this year but thought it was probably small sample size. However as the season has progressed the difference has become glaring. After today's game Morneau's home Ops is about 50 points higher than Joe Mauer's. Morneau's been rightly criticized this year for his performance vs contract, however it's been on the road that the criticizism is justified. His current away split in 53 games is Ave OBP Slugging OPS .218 .288 .292 .580 which is frankly horrid. However his home split in 46 games is Ave OBP Slugging OPS .315 .364 .525 .889 which leads all Twins by a significant amount. The question then becomes why? It's beyond small sample size at this point and has trended this way since the beginning of the season. Any thoughts or theories as to why?
  20. For those interested, the quote today from Terry Ryan is listed above.
  21. I was interested in Terry Ryans comments today about Albers, May, Meyer, Tonkin and Hendriks helping the Twins next year. He described Albers as having a deceptive delivery. I'm assuming that's not Luis Tiant or Pat Neshek deceptive, so has anyone actually seen him pitch? How deceptive is his delivery? Also interesting that he figures May and Meyer will be ready next year. So does that make the rotation at some point next year as Gibson, Meyer, May, Deduno and Albers?
  22. Albers actually went 8 Ip in the loss which I think is counted as a complete game because LV didn't have to come up in the bottom of the 9th. That makes 2 straight complete games and 3 on the season for Albers.
  23. Hopefully he can show something up here if and when he is promoted, just for the mental health of the fan base. Although if the Twins keep losing maybe they can draft top 3 this year.
  24. Albers now leads the International League in K's with 116 after todays start which was 8 Ip 5 hits and 1 BB with 2 runs given up. His whip is 1.18 and his Era is down to 2.86 for the year. With Butera's trade maybe Albers gets put on the 40 man roster and called up.
  25. Yeah hopefully Albers will be called up soon. He had another nice performance today of 8 Ip with 5 hits and 1 BB and 2 runs.
