  1. Whenever the need to DFA another player happens, I predict its gonna be Hendriks (over the essential Butera again). Liam has worn out his welcome & has fallen so far down the depth chart. Even Tom Kelly said this spring that not many in the organization were in Liams corner, other than him.
  2. I said earlier IF Joe hits like this year, his bat plays at 1B. In the past, it doesnt. No arguement that he's not an HR hitter, but he's had only 1 year w/over 36 doubles & 2 over 31. Before this year, he wasnt an extra base hitter. This year he is. You cannot have a fulltime singles hitting 1B, even with the great OBP. The other part is whomever is catching is essentially replacing the 1B. Ryan Doumits numbers wouldnt play at 1B either. Now you've taken a plus offensive position @ C (only one the club has) & eliminated it.
  3. Am a big believer in Duensing (as long as he's kept in pen) but this woulda been a great opportunity to give Caleb Thielbar a shot against a lefty in a meaningful game.
  4. if true & if he was a possible first rounder......steal for Twins. Should buy his roommate an ounce or so for a thank you
  5. OK Correia is thru 6 w/86 pitches......is everyone ready for the post 75 pitch breakdown???
  6. Plouffe can hit lefties, that is not a problem with his game!!
  7. Not harping on just this case, but a power hitting Willingham hitting .210 & power hitting Morneau w/2HR.....I like making the other team making a GREAT play to beat you rather than being cautious. Not like Dozier is a slow runner (at least on this team). All situations are different, but I prefer to be aggressive always
  8. Since Memorial Day, Dozier has hit .310/.385/.517 in 19gms (58ABs) entering tonite w/10r 3hr 7rbi
  9. I expect MN to treat Kohl a little easier than Berrios w/him playin in GCL this year & ELIZ next year before his MWL debut like they have done with other pitchers. many of us were pleasantly shocked to see J.O. start in Cedar Rapids, but I got a feeling that they wont do this with Kohl (unless of course he absolutely dominates like Berrios did, I guess).
  10. Whether its Twins TV or radio, they always say the move to hold up the runner was the right move (almost always isnt IMO). Wish there was some kind of sabermetric site that tracked 3rd base coaches when there is a decision to make.
  11. I wanna pay attention to 2nd rounder Ryan Eades when he signs. Many argue that collegiate arms are burned out by their coaches but most pitch right around 100 innings or so (Eades 100 exactly). He should be good for a solid 50-60 also, but wont as most organizations shut down their college arms. Will it be different now with the new signing dates??
  12. I really dislike Gardy but their isnt much you can do with this collection of everyday players......so please replace all my Gardy rips with Terry Ryan!!!!
  13. Doesnt Ventura know that you need a scrappy nontalented .220 hitter with .290 OBP in the leadoff spot with someone who can bunt in the 2nd spot.....its in the managerial book everyone gets!!!
  14. In Gardy's defense, their's not much you can do with a 3 man bench (THAT is his fault!!) but my main arguement is how the team is constructed
  15. Sale in his career holds lefties to a .209/.260/.285 line w/3HR in 397ABs but this poorly constucted team has 4 lefties starting & others in Doumit/Florimon who dont hit lefties well
  16. Pure Gardy.....drops Clete Thomas in lineup as he doesnt hit lefties well, but bats Ryan Doumit 3rd tho he doesnt hit lefthanders well either but keeps the teams best hitter vs lefties (TPlouffe) down in the lineup.
  17. In the offseason, I was championing signing Eric Chavez to platoon with Plouffe as Chavy KILLS righties still. Plouffe is a below average player vs righties & a great manager/general manager would find a way to minimize that but yeah, Id rather have him than Escobar or Carroll....no questions asked.
  18. Trevor splits vs LHP 234ABs .282/.349/.530 13HR vs RHP 659ABs .220/.286/.392 26HR Would love to see how trevor would prosper under a manager who knew how to use him correctly (Joe Madden!!) He had very huge splits in the minors also so this isnt a under 1000AB abberation
  19. The new signing procedures have made taking high school kids after the first couple rounds very risky as you cant pay em
  20. That is only the first AB of the guy. Position in a lineup shouldnt matter as if Mauer hit with more power (even doubles power), that one AB would score someone from first. His .350slgg this with RISP doesnt do it but his career .496slgg RISP does.
  21. I would rather keep Plouffe regardless of whether Sano opens next yr w/MN (think its very possible) and turn him into a RHH utility guy who plays everyday vs lefties (who he kills) but I dont think Gardy is that type of manager (will he even be back). If Gardy stays, I absolutely would welcome seein what kind of deal you can get.
  22. Everyone should at least have their trade value examined. Like Benson/Hendriks, I get the feeling that the organiztion isnt in love with him but just puts up with him as they have no other alternatives.
  23. Other thing to remember about resigning Morneau is he becomes a 10 & 5 guy 4 days into the 2014 season if MN does resign him. Dont want any part of that. Dealing Doumit or Willy should happen as they are both DHs who are shoved into the field by a manager who doesnt value OF defense. I like Doumit as a backup player but gardy thinks he a full time player. You see deficiencies when he plays everyday and/or plays too much vs LHP (Gardy again never looks at splits)
  24. Guys he brought up is 24 yr old AAA RP Heath Hembree--#3 prospect in 2012, #7 in 13 who throws 95 but PCL pitching stats are so misleading Heath Hembree Stats, Bio, Photos, Highlights | MiLB.com Stats | The Official Site of Minor League Baseball Clayton Blackburn, 20 yr old High A RHP #6 prospect who throws 87-89....want NO other soft tossing Blackburns in the organization http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=607185
