  1. Yikes....13-0 now. Rickie Weeks homer
  2. From watching Tonkin pitch with the Twins I think its pretty easy to see why they haven't stuck with him or given him more opportunities at the major league level. Very straight fastball and and an OK breaking ball that he has trouble locating. Relievers can often succeed in the minors with one good pitch and less than reliable secondary stuff but struggle at the major league level.
  3. With nearly half of the season completed, I believe you can start to make some assumptions...
  4. It seems that early in the season when the starters were having trouble, the bullpen was lights out. Now as the starters are improving, I feel like the bullpen has been struggling with allowing inherited runners to score and taking close games (and relatively good starts) and putting them mostly out of reach. (Duensing especially, has made me think about this). A cursory glance as some stats shows that while Duensing has been in more high leverage situations than ever before he is allowing 34%! of inherited runners to score this year. Meanwhile Casey Fien is only allowing 14% of inherited runners to score. Is anyone who is more adept at stat investigation able to find out if this is a trend that has gotten significantly worse in June vs April-May? Where do the twins sit vs. league average? If Duensing cannot be counted on in High leverage 6-7th inning situations I would think that there are a number of options to fill that role within the system
  5. The Twins need to be looking for solutions to the starting pitching staff! Hernandez has proven to NOT be that, yet he is the one called up over Gibson and Albers. I've been much more patient than many about Gibson but this would have a perfect opportunity to get his feet wet at the major league level, 2-3 starts. Nothing to lose...
  6. Please add me to your petition, Brian Dodge
  7. Seth- Thanks for posting these minor league updates! For those of us that are draft geeks (NFL) and love the development process, baseball has always been a hard sport to enjoy in the same way that you can follow college players players in football or basketball. You make it easy to follow the twins prospects! I'm a die hard twins fan so I should be more frusterated about the way this season is going but getting to keep up on the future of twins baseball gives me something positive to focus on! Thanks again
  8. Can someone please explain to me why it is that anytime a player doesn't perform (or gets injured and doesn't heal fast enough), its Gardys fault? and anytime the team does something well, Gardy never gets any credit? Gardy didn't like the fact that Butera couldn't hit, he focused on the things that he did well because he was trying to make the best of a bad situation. The twins didn't have a better option at the time. That being said, after this spring training, I'm incredibly excited for this team! Can't wait for opening day!
