  1. And hitting third. Our superman CF was Aquaman at the plate. Minus the ability to speak Fish.
  2. Fifth inning already?!?! What the bleep? I guess this is what I get for setting my alarm clock an hour too late when turning in after the first game of the doubleheader ended this morning. Well, at least I won't need to put my pj's on during the 7th inning stretch. Already good to go. http://a.fastcompany.net/multisite_files/fastcompany/imagecache/1280/poster/2014/08/3034180-poster-p-1-how-circa-ceo-matt-galligan-trained-himself-to-wake-up-at-630-am-without-an-alarm-cl.jpg
  3. This is right up there with Bartlett being sent down to work on his 'quarterbacking' of the infield according to Gardenhire, and perhaps his special teams play as well, for all we know. Yes, the situations are different because with Bartlett it was a perceived weakness and with Vargas it's a roster crunch, but still... what the bleep? Chalk another roster folly up to inexplicable, dysfunctional hoarding. At this point, almost every questionable roster decision can be diagnosed by playing a game of 'Six Degrees of Why the Hell Is Trevor Plouffe Still Here?'
  4. There were a few cheers on the winning hit, but I'm pretty sure I heard a collective gasp of relief, too.
  5. But there was that really exciting foul tip that broke Butera's mask.
  6. Elmendorf AFB Ops. We're still here, Crystal Palace.
  7. Sorry I let you down, man. Relatives in town from Oregon for the weekend. Maybe next time.
  8. Bert: "Danny Santana needs a good at bat here. He's had four really bad ones." Like just regular bad, or bad for Danny, Bert?
  9. Welcome to Saturday morning baseball, glunn.
  10. Suzuki is available if the price is right.
  11. Press closing in on half a start worth of pitches. Not good. Edit: He did a great job. Hope his arm bounces back. The breaking stuff looked as sharp as ever on his last few pitches, so that's maybe a good sign.
  12. Press didn't give him much he could elevate, but yeah, Gordon was the guy I was most concerned about.
  13. Possibly a reference to his taking advantage of Kansas' concealed carry law.
  14. Mauer's defense is very good, and he's really helped make the infielders look good with some some extra credit scoops. He just looks... old. But yeah, long day for the boys, and anyway, Joe's following the Twins tradition of good defensive first basemen who didn't exactly look like Baryshnikov over there.
  15. At least we know who to blame for the jinx...
  16. Well, I guess having your mask damaged by a foul tip is better than having your tip damaged by a foul mask. Mauer's defense has steadily improved, but even when he makes great plays like that layout scoop, he still doesn't look like other above-average first basemen. He looks like a well-preserved 50 year old playing in a Legends game.
  17. It sounded like Son of Sal asked for a new catcher's mask from the dugout because his smelled bad. Maybe I need to go to bed after all.
  18. Bork Attacks! You're not late, you're just reeeeally early for the second game of the double header later today. I'm the one who's late, because i threatened to bail an hour ago when half the stadium lights were turned off by the timer. But now that the dog is panting and freaked out by thunder I might have to stick around a bit.
  19. Yup, Kim B./Lynn Bracken/Veronica Lake, all the same person. "The girls in Bisbee could use a little glamour". Best Picture nominee in '97, Kim won Best Supporting. Spacey was excellent as well. Russel Crowe and Guy Pearce were just young pups then and it made both their careers. It's on my desert island list, just in case I get one that has a blu ray player. Holy crap, was that really almost 20 years ago already? http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--01AsjAt5CE/T0mTZJIIoqI/AAAAAAAAADk/3yZ-cSSrtGA/s1600/l-a-confidential-poster.jpg
  20. Does the prostitute from L.A. Confidential still live there? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--6GSmHfw4KE/VolfxtCe7mI/AAAAAAAAmwM/wGAog7FVozQ/s1600/LAConfidential_275Pyxurz.jpg
  21. And now the stadium lights have throttled back to 50%. And the rain continues. That's it for me.
  22. This one ought to finish up late enough so that the next thing to come on will be an ad for a juicer that can reduce papaya to subatomic particles.
  23. http://www.feistees.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/sktrb.jpg
  24. Ground crew guys appear to be building something in their equipment area out by the bullpen. Can't quite make out what it is, but have a feeling it could be a sign of trouble.
  25. Guessing CrunchBerri's agent was getting his rain dance on in hopes of erasing those stats.
