We won the series with ease.

I do think the lack of moves is justified. Falvine did a fine job, but with a huge lack of sellers and prices sky high, there wasn't much else he could do. The Twins had a fine deadline considering the circumstances.

I agree there is definitely a time to trade prospects and this would have been a good season but I don't think it is worth giving up the farm. Kirilloff is the future first baseman in my opinion. Larnach couldn't net us an elite pitcher like Thor so it's not worth giving him up for a slightly above average starter. I'm actually surprised Rooker wasn't more widely sought after, unless he was an I just have no idea.

I described them as two back end relievers. That can mean many things. If I was doing an actual analysis of the moves I would have gone more in depth but that was just a league recap.

They won't be held onto forever. Stay tuned for this upcoming offseason, there will be at least one move made for a top end starting pitcher involving some of the guys you mentioned above. It's likely the prices were too high or the starters weren't a big enough of an upgrade on the rotation now.

1.) The Twins added an elite reliever with Dyson and another solid reliever in Romo. 2.) Zack Greinke had the Twins on his no trade clause so he was not coming here 3.) The Twins could have added someone like Minor or Ray but the prices are astronomical (thats why nobody got them) and they don’t improve the Twins rotation much. 4.) Saying the Twins will be lucky to make the playoffs seems odd with a three game lead in the division and an easy schedule the rest of the way. 5.) October is weird and you never know what will happen. (Scherzer-Price-Verlander for Detroit were swept a few years ago.) 6.) Trades aren’t based on money…

For three months now all we have heard is "at least add two quality relievers" and that is exactly what the Twins did but there still seems to be a lot of angry fans. The Twins did exactly what was required, no more no less.Solid trade deadline for the Twins, especially considering the price tags on most guys.

Here is every single big move from the 2019 trade deadline. It seemed as if every single team waited until about one minute after the trade deadline passed to announce their moves, but in the end it was a fun and exciting deadline. The Twins did what they set out to do by acquiring two back end relievers so this is not as disappointing as most Twins fans will tell you. The Twins were able to pull off a series win to go with an easy victory today in Chicago. The bats got going immediately, led by the top of the order. The White Sox has no real answer against this Twins pitching staff.Box Score Gibson: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 K, 68.8% strikes (66 of 96 pitches) Bullpen: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K Home Runs: Polanco (16), Sano (18), Schoop (16), Kepler (28) Multi-Hit Games: Polanco (2-for-5), Cruz (2-for-5), Sano (3-for-4), Kepler (2-for-5) Top 3 WPA: Polanco (.130), Sano (.124), Gibson (.106) Solid start for the offense After a rough game yesterday, the Twins offense got off to the best start possible, scoring five runs before there was even an out recorded. Max Kepler doubled, Polanco homered, Cruz singled, Arraez singled, and Sano homered before the White Sox had to pull Dylan Covey after 14 pitches. The offense was stifled a bit for the next two innings, but the fourth inning had a nice two out rally. Kepler reached on an error, Polanco singled and then Cruz drove them both in with a big double to left field. Gibson cruises into the sixth Twins starter Kyle Gibson went five solid innings, giving up four total baserunners and striking out five before he started to struggle in the sixth. It was 9-0 in favor of the Twins at the time, so Gibson was left in to work out of his mess and he did just fine. The inning started with a single, walk, single, single, and then a clutch called strikeout (thanks Angel Hernandez). Gibson was able to ride that wave and strike out the next two batters to leave the inning still leading 9-1. The offense was able to get that run back and then some with a couple of two run bombs from Max Kepler and Jonathan Schoop. The Twins bullpen finishes off the game strong After a strange sixth inning from Gibson, the bullpen came in and did it’s job. It started with Ryne Harper in the 7th, Tyler Duffey in the 8th and future reliever of the year Sean Poppen to finish it off. They threw a perfect three innings and tacked on one strikeout each to put this game and series to rest on a good note. The Twins bullpen has been getting better lately and with the addition of Sergio Romo it only gets better from here. Twins head into off day with two game division lead The Twins won the game by a final score of 11-1 and there was really no doubt at any point. The Twins were able to come up huge this series by taking three of four in Chicago. Not only did the Twins win, but the Indians lost so the Twins were able to get that game back and will head into tomorrow’s off day with a two game lead over Cleveland. As the deadline nears, the Twins look like they will continue to add to their pitching staff after the Sergio Romo upgrade. Go get Stroman or Ray and call it a day! That rhymed well but I still want Marcus Stroman or Robbie Ray on this team for October. If you want a package deal then pull the trigger on Stroman/Giles or Ray/Holland

True, that makes sense but Parker didn't strike people out to counter the walks and Diekman is one of the better strikeout relievers. He is 11th in K/9 in all of baseball.

Sure, but the asking price right now anyway was like a top two prospect and unless that is lowered the Twins will not do it in a million years.

I have been high on Givens all season so he is also my number one guy in that second tier. Past success, high upside and years of control are definitely a few keys you look for in that second tier. Plus, his slider is awesome. By the way Tom, click on Sam Dyson's name in this post for a surprise.

In my opinion, the Twins have to add two relievers at the minimum. It will cost a lot, but Vasquez, Giles or Yates may be a key piece the Twins could add.

It is also a possibility that Pohlad wants to win and is actually willing to add salary

It is July 25 and we are now just six days from the trade deadline. There has still been no real impact moves lately so those could be coming any day now, but it is likely to all happen within the final 48 hours. Today I’ll be discussing a package deal from the Royals I would like, as well as giving some links to recent rumors. Head down to the comments and discuss.During the Twins game last night, multiple reporters had an interesting quote from Derek Falvey about the state of salary/payroll during this deadline. So the Twins would be willing to take on some money, you say? Well there is one particular reliever who came to mind for a lot of Twins fans including myself, and that is the Kansas City Royals reliever Ian Kennedy. The 34-year-old right-hander is under team control next season but he is owed roughly $16.5 million for that year. The Royals might still maintain some of the salary but the Twins would still be paying quite a bit. That shouldn’t be too big of a problem though, because Kennedy is actually a really good pitcher. He is in his first season as a relief pitcher after twelve up and down seasons as a starter. In 41 appearances this year, Kennedy owns a 3.48 ERA, 2.23 FIP(!), 10.89 K/9, and 2.18 BB/9. He is a solid right hander who will be able to share high leverage innings with Taylor Rogers and as a righty to pair with Rogers, the Twins could utilize their matchup approach to the bullpen even more. Of course if I’m calling, texting, facetiming or writing letters to Kansas City I am looking for a second player to pair with Kennedy, and that would be Lucas Duda. That is a joke, the real second piece the Twins should target is left handed reliever Jake Diekman. A lot of you will be turned off of him after I say this, but I would call him a left handed Trevor May. Diekman has a very good fastball reaching 96 mph that hitters are hitting just .185 against to go with an outstanding 13.28 K/9, but his BB/9 is a frustrating 5.09 so he will either strike you out or walk you. He is just a good pitcher you can put in for the sixth or seventh inning to safely get you to the big guns to finish the game. So what do you think? They have Twins going to the Giants to acquire Madison Bumgarner and for the costly price of Brusdar Graterol and Trevor Larnach, the Twins #3 and #4 prospects respectively. While both are good pitchers, I don’t see the Twins dealing two of their best prospects for a rental starter and a reliever.
