    Christian Yelich experimented with several different batting swings until he found something he was comfortable with... Royce just needs to worry about body position and the Twins need to not worry about his launch angle in 2020. There were times in Pensacola, you could see two to three different swings within one at bat for Lewis.

    The Southern League last had block scheduling in 2003 and the main reason they discontinued it was that some teams were pitching fits about not having weekend and Holiday home dates. For a baseball fan point of view, it was nice seeing some teams anywhere from 3 to 4 times in one half and seeing all teams at least once each half. One of my favorite things to do is to ask players that experienced the Pioneer League before last year about the travel. The stories never get old.

    On Twitter, there is speculation you will see a league like the Southern League go back to block scheduling and the divisions do not play each other until the playoffs. So in my example, I would only see Montgomery, Biloxi, Mississippi, and Jacksonville @ Pensacola. This goes along with an article I read last week that stated MLB has already told leagues to get their league travel under 300 miles one way. I think if MLB and MILB would have gotten ahead of these leaks the narrative to these changes would look better. The majority of those stadiums outside of SS have all had major problems with weather, playing surfaces, and dated amenities. Read what the Astros experienced at Quad Cities this season and what happened in High A Daytona. I think along these changes will happen in phases after 202 after lawsuits. For example, the Pioneer League goes away, then the following year the Northwest League, and the etc.

    the success of Pensacola and how that staff dealt with the numerous roster changes probably has something to do with it. Pensacola only had the same position players in the lineup a total of 9 times in back to back games. Ramon Borrego will be interviewing for a MLB managerial position at some point.

    I saw Nick Markakis a lot during his minor league stint and that is the career track I have Alex on. Pure hitter with some sneaky seasons of .300 with 40 doubles and 20 HRs.

    Jay just needs a new environment. Everything about him looked uncomfortable to the point he was the last one in the the dugout before game time and first one out of the stadium after the game. His last pitching performance in Pensacola that I watched was stomach turning and I felt bad for him.

    Having seen a lot of the prep players and having the Wahoos with the Twins I would like to see them take two out of the cluster of Rece Hinds, Gunnar Henderson, and Maurice Hampton.

    Long term it doesn't really matter. The Twins have more DR players in their system then the Orioles and the Yankees have more then the Twins. Just different philosophies on how you want to accrue warm bodies. I personally think you want a balance like the Rangers and Braves.

    Saw Jerron Ealy and Maurice Hampton at Battle of the Beach. What a interesting and similar pair. Both have scholarships at Division I schools to play both ways at the same position in both sports. Both could never swing a bat again in 40 days and both could never step onto a college campus. If your taking either of these players on Day 1, they are going to be slow movers. I personally like Ealy better.

    The never understood the distance from the stadium rules with being a host family. My in laws applied in 2015 and were told 16 miles was to far from the stadium. On a good day, they can be from their house to the stadium in 14 minutes. It’s all highway.

    Saw C.J. Abrams, Kendall Williams, Rece Hinds, Brennan Malone, and Daniel Espino this weekend. That’s the order I liked them also. I think Kendall Williams will move quickly once drafted.

    I saw Riley Greene in person last week. I was impressed and his attributes remind me of Albert Almora. He doubled, monster HR, walked, and had a terrible strikeout on a 54 MPH slurve. I will see Jerrion Ealy mid March.

    Looks like Twins are going to follow the Astros by going to straight computer print out with the MILB staff.I wonder if they are going to ask Pensacola to add slow motion cameras around the stadium.

    One thing I think would help the Twins is if they really used the word "rebuild". Takes a lot of pressure off the FO and the manager. For example, the Reds have never said that word. I heard thet Reds director of player development and the Assisant General Manager speak at two different MILB affiliates and they didnt mention it. Its was basically we need "starting pitching" and then switching the conversation to something positive that is happening on the field. Braves were the exact opposite and made smart choices that reminded them they were in a rebuild.

    Wahoos did a good job keeping us season ticket holders aware of everything but I imagine the amount of backlash they received over this change was surprising to them. I am happy.I cant wait to share some stories about Kohl Stewart with all of you.

    Today was the Southern League: 1. Eloy 2. Hiura 3. Cease 4. Canning 5. B. Wilson 6. Santillan 7. Wright 8. Touki 9. Widener 10. B. Lowe 11. N. Lowe 12. Rooker 13. Ray 14. G. Cabrera 15. Dunning 16. Duplantier 17. Rengifo 18. Solak 19. Ward 20. Collins I saw Rooker the first week of the season and he was a trainwreck but this was asked in the BA chat today: Bob (Minn): Who is the real Brent Rooker? Is there something about his approach that would lead to him either being scalding hot or ice cold? Matt Eddy: I think a couple factors are in play here. Firstly, Rooker has been pushed aggressively by the Twins. He is the only position player to spend all of 2017 at Double-A, to my knowledge. That's only fair. He was roughly a year older than the other premium bats from his draft class. And second, the Southern League is a punishing assignment for any player, let alone one embarking on his first five-month pro season. The oppressive humidity and constant threat of rain are factors, as are the league's five-game series format which can tend to key opponents into their opponents' weaknesses much quicker. Every source I contacted expressed optimism that Rooker would get to his power frequently in the majors -- the only questions are what kind of AVG will he produce and how many runs will he give back defensively?

    I think all clubs are a little bit nervous about two things with Amarillo. One what do we do if its not completed in time ? Teams would like to know what happens if this is the case. Second, we were all shocked that the Angels were content with the Southern League. A rover told me the Angels liked the Southern League mainly because the travel was easier then when they with Arkansas in the Texas League. The team that occupies Amarillo will be taking on three of the longest bus rides in affiliated baseball. I bet that affiliation is changing every two years unless its a team that values being close to Arizona. In regards to the Wahoos stadium, April and May is very nice to hitters with the breeze coming off the Gulf and then the air turns into a bowl of hot soup from late May to September favoring pitchers. We had a 58 percent increase in games effected by weather this year because we had a ton of rain.

I welcome the change and hope it happens. I was told several times this year across the Southern League that teams and players were not happy with playing surface in Chattanooga. The Wahoos stadium plays big and favors pitchers, Its going to be easy getting players to Pensacola and Fort Myers. Crossing fingers this haappens.
