  1. Has anybody seen what Shane Victorino has done over the past couple weeks since a hamstring injury relegated him to give up switch hitting? Of course this is a small sample size, but could be considered hope that a change for Hicks could be a good thing.
  2. I don't think this should be suprising considering the Twins traded two prototypical lead of hitters in the offseason. Moves like that are going to put a team behind the curve at a particular position. All this is not to debate the success of the trades as only time will tell.
  3. What I have read about Deduno, is that his erratic fastball is not due as much to his mechanics as it is to the incredible movement that he gets on the fastball. Red Sox hitters were amazed by how much the fastball moves. Butera commented that he is simply setting up in the middle of the zone for Deduno and letting the fastball movement do the work. Unfortunately this is causing his BB rate to be higher.
  4. I just don't see this as a bad situation for the Twins. It is definetly not ideal for Parmelee, but due to health and productivity of other players it is tough to find a spot for Parmelee right now. It is tough to mess with the good offense that we have going right now.
  5. I also think that Revere and you could make a case for Plouffe's strong performance recently has made it hard for Gardy to take them out of the line up. This makes it tough to include Parmelee in the outfield situation. I imagine he will stay with the team through the interleague roadtrip next week for pinch hitting flexibility and then be sent down for Pavano, or a player like Burroughs who does not need everyday at bats.
  6. I could see Manship head back down as he has not seen many opportunities it the 10 days or so that he has been up. He would probably go back down to AAA to start in Hendricks absence.
  7. I think the Twins decision to bring up De Vries has more to do with Hendricks long term development than the comparison between the two pitchers recent performance. They feel Hendricks needed a few extra starts to build confidence down in AAA. This seems to have been an effective move by judging Hendricks' recent results. With that said, De Vries carried him self well last night, just left a few too many balls up in the zone in a ballpark that considers a pop fly a home run. He should fare better at Target Field.
  8. Disagree. I maybe will start to feel this way in late September, but baseball is a long season, and players as well as teams can go in and out of hot/cold streaks. It is way to early to think about the draft. On top of that, the baseball draft is much different than any other sport. A number 1 pick does not guarantee anything.
  9. I imagine they would move Carrol over to 3B before even considering such a drastic move. I see them giving Plouffe a few more chances, as it seems his at bats have been solid, hits are just not falling in. His defense has been limited to a tough luck error in the first inning of the game yesterday and a pop fly that he should have taken charge of in the game on Saturday.
  10. Way too early to panic. No one expected Baker to pitch more than 150 innings this year anyways. 2 bad games do not indicate anything in a schedule of 162. Everyone needs to relax a little... If we are still struggling to hit and pitch in the middle of June we will have cause to worry. Lastly, not that I am a huge fan of Gardenhire, but I am not sure he can go out there and throw strikes, hit, and field the ball. The guys still need to perform up to their capabilities.
