  1. With the Twins most like sellers at the tradeline this year, I see an opportunity for Gordon opening up. Polanco, simmons, or Arraez could be dealt, opening the door for Gordon.
  2. The Twins aren't a 'bad' team. they're a decent team, performing badly. Sano is not a bad hitter, just not a smart or a consistent hitter. Josh Donaldson is a gold glove third basemen, who has committed errors at key times. and so forth and so on, with the rest of the team. With that being said, how does everyone or at least the majority of the players play well enough on a regular basis? 1. They need to be given opportunities to excel. i.e. inexperienced pitchers given the time to grow and develop, not brought up for a major league debut, that will land them back in AAA within 24 hours. 2. Defensive assignments based on ability and experience. Too many players playing out of position at key times in the game. 3. Hitters not encouraged by exit velocity and launch angles, rather by making contact and going with the pitch. 4. Management stressing a more aggressive approach. Better bullpen management. Management going by instinct or current performance, rather than just by the 'book".
  3. Halloween is on October 31st!
  4. The Twins are not a bad team in my opinion. They are a decent team playing very bad baseball. There are many reasons why they are struggling. You can blame injuries, players struggling to be consistent, breakdowns in coaching and managing, etc. For whatever reason the team is struggling, it doesn't excuse their mental mistakes, and their overall lack of spirit and pride. They are letting things happen to them, rather than making things happen. Too many center cut pitches swung on and missed. Too many times lack of hustle costing them making a play on defense or offense. Where's Rocco during all of this? Looking at his tablet? When's the last time he got into an umpire's face? It's sometime the little and subtle things that help a team break out of a funk. Nope, same thing every game. Just waiting to win by coincidence, I guess. Fans deserve a lot more than what they're getting in return. I guess I couldn't blame a player here or there who only plays for a paycheck. But, with the size of their paychecks, we should get a little bit more on the return of our investment.
  5. I have no doubt the Twins will turn things around. The only issue will be, how deep is the hole they're going to have to dig themselves out of. With tons of Central Division games left, they have the opportunity. Let's see, if they can take advantage of it.
  6. Rocco may be too much of a player's manager. I cite these reasons: 1. Players rarely held accountable. Seems to soft soap a player's mistakes or deficiencies. 2. Players are coddled at the slightest chance of being hurt, rather than an outright injury. Rather than putting the best team out there when possible, players are given that 'extra' day or 2 off. 3. Players are expected to be versatile to play a variety of positions or bat anywhere in the order, yet not required to learn how to bunt, hit the other way to advance a runner. 4. Batting practice not always a daily requirement (especially when there's a day game) 5. Regular infield prior to games is inconsistent. 6. Have not heard of one episode of discipline handed out. Hard to believe in 2+ years, no one has broken or skirted a rule.
  7. Kyle Gibson had a stretch 3 years ago, I believe, when he had his best stuff. He did 2 things that were very obvious. 1. He challenged hitters with his fastball and slider. He didn't throw waste pitches 18" off the plate. Hitters had to protect the plate, and not take the obvious chase pitches. If you throw a pitch so far off the plate, it's no longer a chase pitch for a majority big league hitters. 2. He had a nice pace to his pitching. He got the ball back, got the sign, and fired. This constant walking around and rubbing the ball up,only puts the infielders back on their heels. The pitcher over thinks and tries to guide, rather than throw the ball. And it becomes unsufferable on the fans. Quick pace, I believe, affects the hitter into making quick, not necessarily good decisions.
  8. Twins need to add a power arm or two to the bullpen. We need a pitcher who has the stuff to blow a hitter or two away. Pitch to contact with runners on, pressure on, and a close game, is a recipe for failure. Pressly sems to have the velocity, but not the movement. Perhaps a change in grip or mechanics could bring about a decent fastball with movement.
