  1. Given the past couple of weeks, is that a bad thing?
  2. The thing about baseball is that it just keeps happening.
  3. This is an absolutely ridiculous premise. The Senators had like 50 losing seasons in a row.
  4. I just lost interest over time, used to be a big fan. But the ubiquity of the sport started wearing on me - it was inescapable - and then their CTE "investigation" that basically ended with them shrugging their shoulders convinced me I had better things to do with my time.
  5. I don't watch football so dunno. I spent yesterday reading, watching some Ted Lasso, and being a regular human. It was nice.
  6. I'm sorry, I'm giving this team way too much credit. They scored two runs in three games.
  7. No, I don't think he has lost the clubhouse. Every team goes through a stretch like this during a season and they usually bounce back and return to their normal talent level. And Baldelli, even given his own mistakes, should rip into the team a little over this series. They scored four runs in three games.
  8. I'm smart, I didn't even consider watching yesterday's game.
  9. Yeah, but he has only had ten eighth inning appearances all season, including last night. That's not a large enough number to draw much of a conclusion.
  10. I agree in that I wouldn't have done it. But it's not the dumbest thing in the world to put your best arm at the back of the game while a team is struggling.
  11. Is that really a thing, though? I mean, if your closer can't pitch the eighth, that's just weird.
  12. I would have kept Duran and Jax in their established roles but it's not insanity to put your best reliever, which Jax has been by a country mile, into the closer's role. Personally, I don't want my best reliever in the closer role but that's a baseball opinion and plenty of smart people disagree with me on it.
  13. And you know that guys are cruising until they're not. At best, this is a 51/49 decision. If a manager can't trust his best arms in a late and close situation, the manager isn't the problem. Full stop.
  14. Okay, I'm going to rant a little bit. We're all frustrated, I get it. But if you can't act like a ****ing adult, I'm just going to be done with game threads for the rest of the season. I get it, some of you hate Baldelli. Cool cool cool. I disagree with lots of what he does but if you blame the manager for using his best arms to try to win, the problem ain't the ****ing manager. The problem is that this roster ****ing sucks right now and it's really hard to watch this team fall apart. Some of that is on Baldelli. Some of that is on Falvey. In my opinion, a whole ****ing lot of that is on the Pohalds for purse-clutching when the team needed dollars to win more games. This is a hard situation to watch as a fan. We're all frustrated. I get it. But you're still a grown-ass adult, act like it. So if today's thread derails again, there won't be a game thread tomorrow and I'm going to be handing out three-day vacations from Twins Daily without hesitation.
  15. If you're blaming the manager for using his best relievers to close out a game and try to win, your problem isn't with the manager, it's with the roster.
  16. Is Lewis not playing at second? Sure looks to me like he is. It's okay to be openly concerned about your own ability to do a thing you haven't done in a long time, especially given the circumstances (end of season, in a playoff race).
  17. This is accurate. One day the Dodgers just announced Mookie Betts was playing shortstop. I remember it vividly because I literally laughed out loud when I read it. It was an absolutely bonkers situation.
  18. I assume Henriquez is the opener and then Varland is the bulk pitcher.
  19. Did you watch the at-bat? Or read the article? That's literally the point, Lewis got deep into a count to wait for that pitch.
  20. Ugh, "real" fans. Cut it out with this nonsense. Squirrel is a moderator of the forum and has the full support of ownership. If they tell you to stop whatever behavior you're doing, I suggest you do it or the ban hammer will fall.
