Twins Holiday Week of Giving Is Underway

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Twins today announced plans for the ninth annual Holiday Week of Giving, when the organization will focus on giving back to the community during the holiday season. This year’s week of activities runs from Monday, December 16 through Friday, December 20.

Each day this week, Twins front office staff will participate in several events benefiting a variety of community causes.

“In these difficult times, and especially during the holiday season, what we do in the community has never been more important,” said Bryan Donaldson, Twins Senior Director of Community Relations. “Throughout the past nine years, the Week of Giving has connected volunteers from the Twins staff with many worthwhile organizations and thousands of families.”

A brief description of each event is listed below:

Monday, Dec. 16 / 2 - 4 p.m.

Salvation Army Harbor Lights “Rock the Red Kettle” – Twins front office employees will volunteer at seven different kettle sites around the Mall of America. All money raised will be donated to Salvation Army Harbor Lights, which is adjacent to Target Field and is the largest homeless shelter in the metro.

Tuesday, Dec. 17 / 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Rebuilding Together – Twins employees will work to renovate MTS public charter school in Minneapolis by performing various tasks including framing, painting, and building closets.

Wednesday, Dec 18 / 2 - 5 p.m.

Bridging Furniture Bank – Twins volunteers will help to load/unload trucks, sort through donated goods, inspect linens, and restock shelves at Bridging Furniture Bank in Roseville. Bridging provides quality furniture and household goods to people transitioning out of homelessness.

Thursday, Dec. 19 / 1:30 – 3 p.m.

Ronald McDonald House Visit – Twins volunteers will deliver breakfast bags to the Ronald McDonald House and play baseball with the kids and families in the house gym.

Friday, Dec. 20 / 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Open Arms Meal Delivery – Twins volunteers will deliver meals to people with serious illness across the Twin Cities.
