Then I saw the Phillies were batting Delmon 6th and I thought, hey, could be worse.

If you combine the average of our bottom third... It comes out to .227. Assuming 12 at bats tonight... That means at least two hits from the trio tonight... Maybe 3... If they string them together... Woo Hoo... The Phillies are in trouble.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Ump blew the call... He was out. Nice play by Carroll.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Umpire misses call, scorekeeper follows suit. That's gotta be an E5, not a base hit, doesn't it? He made the stop, and the throw clearly beat the runner, but the throw was offline. How is that a hit?
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 I don't like this with Brown up.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 At least I have a volleyball match to watch tonight.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Difficult choice tonight - this or the hockey game
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Difficult choice tonight - this or the hockey game Baseball... Always
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 He made an extroidanary effort just to catch the ball. You get error cred for that. Not in my book. You make the stop, you should then make the throw. If the runner beats it out, fine. Base hit. But if he's on first cause your throw pulled the first baseman, that's an E. YMMV.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 "How's about I just put it on a tee for you, Delmon?" Pelf has to settle down or Gibson will be here in his spot.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Going to watch my girl play for the US against Argentina in the Pan Am Cup tonight. That's her on the left.

gil4 Verified Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Difficult choice tonight - this or the hockey gameI agree, and I haven't watched a full period of hockey since the Hartford Whalers moved, the second team the NHL moved on me in 4 years.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Not in ChiTiwn it hasn't Jonathan Toews... One of Grand Fork's own.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 The constant sun beating down on you as made you write a difficult book of baseball standards. Possibly. I think it's a pretty fair and consistent standard though...if your error (i.e. a bad throw) results in a base gained, that's then ruled an error.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 How do you discipline a daughter who can spike with authority. Got all the disciplining in before she hit 6' 2".
CairoCrown Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Got all the disciplining in before she hit 6' 2".Wow. How tall are you and her mother?
Gibby Provisional Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Wow. How tall are you and her mother? We are both 5' 11.

I think it's a pretty fair and consistent standard though...if your error (i.e. a bad throw) results in a base gained, that's then ruled an error. Once you hit the dirt to make a play... Standing up and throwing would be considered an extroidanary effort to continue on make the out. If that's an error... It would have been best for Carroll personally to just hold the ball and don't try. Errors shouldn't be used to discourage effort.
