I thought, boy, that's a rough bottom 3rd of our lineup tonight. Then I saw the Phillies were batting Delmon 6th and I thought, hey, could be worse.

They all get to use bats... As long as that holds true... Anything is possible...

If you combine the average of our bottom third... It comes out to .227. Assuming 12 at bats tonight... That means at least two hits from the trio tonight... Maybe 3... If they string them together... Woo Hoo... The Phillies are in trouble.

Umpire misses call, scorekeeper follows suit. That's gotta be an E5, not a base hit, doesn't it? He made the stop, and the throw clearly beat the runner, but the throw was offline. How is that a hit?

He made an extroidanary effort just to catch the ball. You get error cred for that.

"How's about I just put it on a tee for you, Delmon?"

Not in my book. You make the stop, you should then make the throw. If the runner beats it out, fine. Base hit. But if he's on first cause your throw pulled the first baseman, that's an E.

YMMV.

Difficult choice tonight - this or the hockey game
Hockey's been over for about a month now, ChiTown.

Pelf has to settle down or Gibson will be here in his spot.

D'ya suppose he can be here in time for the top of the 2nd?

The constant sun beating down on you as made you write a difficult book of baseball standards.

How do you discipline a daughter who can spike with authority.

I agree, and I haven't watched a full period of hockey since the Hartford Whalers moved, the second team the NHL moved on me in 4 years.

Possibly.

I think it's a pretty fair and consistent standard though...if your error (i.e. a bad throw) results in a base gained, that's then ruled an error.

Got all the disciplining in before she hit 6' 2".

Once you hit the dirt to make a play... Standing up and throwing would be considered an extroidanary effort to continue on make the out.

If that's an error... It would have been best for Carroll personally to just hold the ball and don't try.

Errors shouldn't be used to discourage effort.
