GCTF Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Great, if the Twins score seven runs here they'll have to move one of their outfielders to first base.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Nice stops by Mauer. Ground balls... http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110606042636/es.futurama/images/c/c6/Futurama_fry_looking_squint2.jpg ...or rallies?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Mosquitos. "Mosquitos breed in swamps. This is a desert." (originally referring to Los Angeles, not San Fran, and the whole movie changes when the mosquito gets squished.) "You're a little out of your weight class..." seems to apply to this series as well. Anyway, it's over. And i hope the next game's against someone else, perhaps even with rumored outfield re-enforcements.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Final Score: 8-1. Two infielders played in the outfield today, which led directly to the first two runs being scored in the 1st inning and to several other cringeworthy fly ball outs and ugly plays later in the game. Meanwhile Hicks and Kubel sat on the bench. Genuinely trying to figure out why this was tolerated. Help!

Help!At least with Kubel you could make the case that he's been pretty useless against tough lefties in his career, but like you said, they miss his glove out there. It's funny, typing that last phrase made me feel as if I had crossed some sort of invisible yet significant barrier...
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Um... Ground balls? I too could have wished for a little more contact at the plate... Lefties OBPing .253 against Mad Bum for his career and Mauersie went 1-4, so it was just a case of bad luck and accurate math.

Otherwise, if you're checking to see if the infielders can handle it, i guess you got keep tryin' 'em to see if they learned anything since last time? Only graspin' at straws...
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Travel day line up? Day after night as well, as is his custom. And were it not for Parmelee in right, it would look to me like Gardenhire going all in on righties vs. lefty, which is not his usual m.o.

And were it not for Parmelee in right, it would look to me like Gardenhire going all in on righties vs. lefty, which is not his usual m.o. He also left Mauer in, where he could have let Colabello get a crack at it. (As was postulated he might before the game in a Colabello last chance thread, i think) but Mauer also can use the work, and is one of those batters rightly immune to the righties vs. lefty logic. I'm always a bit surprised by how many switch hitters we have too...
