Twins announcers joking about Escobar's slide, but that one looked like the sort where an ankle problem could have occurred.

 

Stepped away and missed Hicks's attempted steal, which apparently they also found risible.

 

Mostly because he was caught leaning on a pickoff. Wasn't even stealing, I don't think.

There wasn't a challenge. Gardy wen out to argue a call with the 2B ump and Joe West moseyed over to toss him

Bases loaded, double play grounder hit right at Escobar, the runner on second got hit by the ball. Gardy's asking for them to rule a double play. I don't know if they even can, but if they can I imagine it would be similar to allowing a runner to score from first on fan interference or a ground rule double--very rare. Crew Chief (Country) Joe West got in the argument and quickly thumbed Gardy.

Yup, ump called runner's interference on what coulda/woulda/shoulda been a double play ball, and only called the runner out. Sadly, i'm not close enough to have heard what exactly the argument was, though i'm sure that had something to do with it.

Bases were loaded with one out, ball hits the runner on second right in front of Escobar.

 

Probably a dead ball at that point, and umps decision as to what happens. Escobar then picked up the ball and flipped to Dozier covering second. And it was hard enough they'd likely gotten the batter at first. Anyway, at least they didn't say the runner on third should score, and they got another ground ball immediately to end the inning.

 

Oh well. Maybe it'll spark a rally?

Well, that was the last hit he gave up. The last six batters Deduno faced made outs, four on strikes. Way to finish out your outing, Sammy.

Unfortunately that's my impression of him in general. Which made it ridiculous to bring him in as a reliever with men on base, but even when starting his day (in relief or as a starter) it takes him too long to find some command. He always ends his stint leaving you with the feeling you should give him another chance; and then next time it's the same thing again.

I am so tired of Collabello playing every day. He's clearly overmatched, and the Twins have decided that the #4 hitter in a lineup should be determined by "who had the best hot streak 3+ weeks ago?"

Pretty much agree, but the options are really limited. I think, for now, Mauer needs to hit #3 (move Plouffe down), but I really don't know who should bat #4.

But oh well... Sometimes ya esco the bar, and sometimes, well...

 

Anyway 1-3. There's still hope, i think. And now we can see him fielding. And hopefully we'll see both of them catch.
