  1. I looked up the number of wild pitches charged to the Astros during Castro’s tenure way back when Castro signed. As I recall, they were considerably higher than the rest of the league. My understanding is that his set up for framing puts him in bad position to block pitches. Personally, I feel that blocking pitches is substantially more important. It’s something that Kurt Suzuki excelled at btw.
  2. Alex Colome had 47 saves last year and had .7 bWAR. Closers don’t generally have a high WAR.
  3. I think I saw that movie. The phantom strike zone attacks the clones. Right?
  4. Maybe not if one (or both) trade for an upgrade midseason.
  5. 5 hits against a rather pedestrian starting pitcher is a little concerning.
  6. Yeah, because ERA is the best way to evaluate a closer. Said. NO ONE. Ever.
  7. Adrianza is not a free agent after 2018.
  8. That’s “the book” move. Once you bring your closer into a tie game on the road, you are pretty much forced to ride him as long as possible. The alternative was Pressly. Sure that’s a better option?
  9. So much for Rodney not being HR prone. That’s gonna leave a mark.
  10. So, if they bring in Rogers for Davis, who comes in after that? Pressley? Angels and ministers of grace defend us.
  11. It would be pretty unusual to remove a closer before he gives up a lead, let alone a run.
  12. So, gameday is showing that there have been two mound visits. If so, why has there been no pitching change?
  13. Grossman here? But not for Castro last inning? Ok
  14. Bold prediction: Buxton won’t have an 11 pitch at bat.
  15. I don’t think that will be overturned. Close though.
  16. Odorizzi hasn’t gotten Machado yet. So, I’m guessing Molitor will try someone else. There’s a string of righties coming.
  17. As Dick Van Patten would say: Eight is Enough. Everybody has off tomorrow. Might as well use these guys.
