  1. I like Rosario batting 4th against righties. He has not hit for nearly as much power against lefties, though. If Sano bats 3rd, ideally we need a RH hitter who can protect him in the lineup. Dozier would be my choice to bat 4th against lefties, Rosario against righties.
  2. It looks like the Dodgers just traded De Leon for Forsythe!!
  3. Span would have given us a decent leadoff hitter which would enable Dozier not have to bat leadoff. Homerun hitters are not fully utilized unless they are batting down in the order where they are more base runners on base. I would not be opposed to trading Polanco. How about a trade involving him and Stewart?
  4. If Dozier still has not been traded come July, will this thread still be going strong?
  5. Well, De Leon has better POTENTIAL, and is a better prospect. At this point, I don't think he is a better pitcher. If Stewart improves his breaking pitch(s), he could be just as good as De Leon. My bigger point, though, is that the Twins could get better prospects in a trade that includes Stewart as opposed to De Leon. That might make for a better trade.
  6. http://dodgerblue.com/dodgers-rumors-la-refused-include-brock-stewart-potential-brian-dozier-twins-trade/2017/01/12/ At Dodger Blue, they ware saying that Stewart was not offered. I get the feeling that the Dodgers think much more highly of De Leon than the Twins do. That means they would be probably be willing to give better prospects in a trade involving Stewart as opposed to De Leon. IMO, I am almost as high on Stewart as DeLeon. At this point, the Twins and Dodgers maybe could switch gears, start over with Stewart as the center piece of a potential trade.
  7. Most Twins feel that now is the time to trade Dozier. He will probably never have a higher trading value than right now. I wonder if the Dodgers kind of feel the same way about De Leon. If he does not keep improving this year, his stock is going to drop. At the present time, he is the Dodgers 5th or 6th starter. He might not even start off on the roster on opening day. Maybe the Dodgers are a little concerned about De Leon's 4 starts he had last year and that he might not be quite as good as advertised.
  8. His first 4 starts in the majors is not a large enough sample size to mean a whole lot.
  9. A few weeks ago, I thought a Dozier trade was imminent, perhaps a 90% chance of happening. Now, that % of probability is undoubtedly lower. If they cannot get fair trade value, Plan B is waiting and hope to make a trade later. Of course there is risk with waiting. I wonder if the Twins are now considering another option: Keep Dozier and trade off other assets such as Santana. Dozier could still be a very good player when the Twins get good again. Perhaps the twins can extend his contract after the 2017 season. Santana, on the other hand, will not have any more value than right now. If Dozier stays, then Polanco should be traded. Would the Dodgers be interested in him? Would they consider trading a guy like Stewart for him? Just a thought to consider.
  10. For what it is worth, 8 of the top 12 prospects for the Braves are pitchers. So they may be willing to part with some pitching. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=atl
  11. Let's not forgot about Dozier's intangible qualities that cannot be quantified. He is well respected in the club house and is a great team player. WAR figures and other stats are not the only thing to consider when evaluating worth.
  12. Yes, the Twins are bad and need to improve at many positions. If guys like Vargas and Grossman don't hit, they aren't worthy of being on the team because of their lack of defense ability. Mauer is in the twilight of his career and maybe should be platooned. Park, on the other hand could end up being pretty good. Time will tell.
  13. I would rather have someone who is better defensively than Calhoun. It seems apparent that DH will be his best position. The Twins, and it seems a lot of teams, have plenty of guys whom can hit, but are not that good in the field. Shortstops in particular are generally good athletes who can play other positions if they don't pan out as shortstops. With the Dodgers entrenched with Seager, they might be willing to part with Brito or Lux. They have one other SS in their system, who I called recall right now, who seems promising as well.
  14. I have a feeling most Twins fans will either be hestatic or very disappointed over a Dozier trade to the Dodgers. It depends mostly on whether Alvarez will be included in the deal. I wonder if a compromise will take place something like Dozier for De Leon, Stewart, Sheffield and one hitter, such as one of the Dodgers promising shortstops.
  15. Most everyone thinks Dozier will regress, but that might not be the case. After the first 2 months last year, something clicked with him. He became a different hitter. Every year his HR production has increased. Now that might not happen in 2017, but I think he will have a very good year. I think his BA will be about the same as last, and his BB's will increase because pitchers will pitch around him more. I am guessing 33 or 34 HRs.
  16. Well then the Dodgers can look elsewhere for a power hitting 2B who hits lefties well. Is that not what they need?
  17. I have a feeling that is a little more than the Dodgers are willing to give up. It doesn't hurt to ask for that, but if the Twins are going to deal now, they may have to settle for a little less than that.
  18. Good article to check out: http://twinsdaily.com/_/minnesota-twins-news/minnesota-twins/moving-dozier-needs-to-include-creativity-r5274
  19. Ideally for the Twins, Dozier needs to be traded. Waiting involves risks. But they can't give him away. I can't see Polanco playing SS, and don't think the new regime wants him to, either. I get the feeling the Twins will be stressing Defense more this year.
  20. Let's get this done already. Dozier, Santana and Kintzler for De Leon, Stewart, Buehler and Lux.
  21. Point well taken, but I if Stewart is almost as good as DeLeon, and the Dodgers value DeLeon much more highly that Stewart, then maybe Stewart plus other pieces might work out better.
  22. Wow, DeLeon for Dozier is pretty weak. I wonder if the Dodgers countered with Stewart and Buehler if the Twins would accept. Should they? Personnally, I think that DeLeon is a little over rated and Stewart is a little under rated.
