Nobody wants young QBs to sit the bench anymore and I’ve always thought that was silly. Maybe they couldn’t make it work money wise with Darnold but would two more years of JJM sitting the bench been the end of the world? Or did SD want more years? Maybe it just wouldn’t have worked anyway, but they sure went all in on JJM and that seems to be ill conceived at this moment

Honestly, the Vikings have had success in the 30+ years I’ve been following with the veteran strategy. McMahon, moon, Cunningham, George, Favre, keenum, cousins, Darnold…all playoff quarterbacks. Should have won two super bowls. But you have to hit on the drafts to make it work.

They immediately improve it by bringing in a guy who can be at least mediocre at the quarterback position. Players aren’t interested in the long term plans that some of us have. They want to go to a place where they can win, or at the very least not have negative yardage in a half of football.

You’ve really got to be bad this year to be in the running for a top 5 pick. I can see the Vikings finishing with 1 maybe 2 wins. I could also see them losing out. You’d have to believe 4-13 would get them a great pick but they are so many teams with even worse records. Giants have just been eliminated from playoff contention
