    As with most things, managers should fall somewhere in the middle between raging, drunk, yelling guy and “you can take BP or not. If you want. Maybe”. I don’t think laissez faire managing works in anything. Business world, parenting, teaching, and certainly the coaching world. And nowadays, guys are absolutely not going to respond to a Mike Zimmer type either. Coaches at the youth and high school level (even college) are not allowed to be “old school”, so I doubt if they’d be ok with it at the professional level. Coaches were largely insane “back in my day”, and now we’ve tried to remedy that by going too far the other way, where any criticism is unwarranted. My opinion, you don’t need to be a hard*** to your team nor do you need to be their buddy. Personally I think the whole organization is a little too laid back in some of their approaches and I think it fosters an environment where toughness is lacking. Also I don’t think t’s a coincidence that the twins are generally terrible at fundamentals either

    I kind of agree. There’s something to be said for being out in the field or running the bases compared to just sitting in the dugout. Keeps those joints oiled!

    At the end of the day, professional athletes saying anything about being tired or worn out has never and will never play well with a lot of people. Everyone has aches and pains at their job, but the average person putting in the 40 hour+ a week, year round job has trouble feeling sorry for the ball player, for obvious reasons. Someone giving themselves carpal tunnel and a sore back sitting at a computer all day for a cool $45,000 a year is unlikely to sympathize with a guy making $15,000,000 who has a sore hip. You may not like it but that’s just how it is. We put a lot of importance on athletes considering the job they do. They shouldn’t be attacked for it, but would probably be in their best interest to just never talk about that kind of stuff. Just my opinion!

    Remember when guys used to play 150+ games and you’d never hear about being tired or needing a day off? I guess they just never got sore or tired. Good times.

    Matthew stafford is one hell of a quarterback. Every time I see him play he’s getting absolutely abused by the defense. But continues to make huge throws.

    not really sure what else could have been done though when your CF and SS have played 165 games between them with a couple weeks left in the season. I’d rather see what we have with the younger guys. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but we weren’t winning the World Series with our rotation, certainly not when Ryan went out
