  1. Game Thread: White Sox @ Twins, 6/24 @ 12:10pm CT Christopher Allen Sale (6-3, 2.74 ERA) vs. Phillip Joseph Hughes (5-6, 4.47 ERA) Things to think about... 1- Computers -- Yesterday I was just standing around, minding my own business, but all of a sudden I heard a conversation that caught my attention, and the subject of this conversation was about electronic devices, mainly computers and hand-crank radios. Well I won't repeat everything that was said, but a certain member of the TD community was talking to a ten year old boy, and she was telling him that her computer burned fuel quickly, and then she got him all confused about it, and before you knew what had happened, he was talking about computers' "engines." All I can say is that they were corrected, but I think they realized their error quickly. 2- Twitter -- I was just talking about computers, and a common thing associated with computers is the internet, and one of the most visited sites is Twitter. After the conversation above took a turn to Twitter, we got unto the interesting topic of, "What if Stalin had a Twitter account?" You might be wondering why we would talk about that, but just to let you guys know, we often ask each other thought provoking questions. I have been thinking about Stalin's Twitter account that wasn't, and I have an idea what it might be like. It would go like this: Username @TheGreatHelmsman Bio Great Master of Daring Revolutionary Decisions, Leader of Progressive Humanity, Transformer of Nature, Driver of the Locomotive of History, Best Friend of all Children Normal Tweets "@jvribbentrop I didn't brush my teeth today. #dailyroutine" "Gratitude is a sickness suffered by dogs" "Just approved 3167 murders, then watched The Merry Fellows, had a great time!" He would also sign an executive order commanding that every Soviet had to clap for five minutes straight every time he tweeted. 3- Eduardo Nunez -- King Eddie the 2nd was once considered Derek Jeter 2.0, but what many called "lackadaisical play" hurt him in his time in Noo Yoik, but now that he has gotten out of the Apple on Steroids he has performed so well that if he was on the Royals he would be leading the DH spot in the ASG vote, but he isn't on the Royals, so he isn't leading any position, whether it is DH, outfield, third, or short in voting, but that is a good thing, because if he was on the Royals there would be only one thing to do, go through his clothes and look for loose change since the Royals are dead. 4- Modems -- Recently we got a new modem, it was advertised as making the internet an 80 runner, of course I didn't believe it, but we needed one out of necessity since we can't go by a day with out hanging out reading good for nothing, obnoxious comments on websites, which is now the new national pastime, but for me, it's still baseball, although I enjoy listening to classical music and reading, but anyways this modem turned out to be so fast that it is actually slow, so my guess is that it is running so fast that it is tripping over itself, therefore making it harder to do it's job. 5- Tchaikovsky Competition -- I hate to keep pounding this into you, but I can't help it, I have selective OCD, and this is one of the things I selected to have OCD over, just to let you know I haven't finished watching all of the contestants, but my favorites so far are Leonard Elschenbroich, Anastasia Kobekina, Bruno Phillipe, and Pablo Ferrández-Castro. One other note, Elschenbroich is going to perform with the Minnesota Orchestra next year. I think I might have bored some of my readers with my prattling, but I was pinch-hitting. http://larrybrownsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/chris-sale-royals.jpg

  7. Game Thread: White Sox @ Twins, 6/23 @ 7:10pm CT The White Sox are in town, and they are looking to fall further in the standings in hope of getting Robin Ventura fired so that they can have a new manager, but Rick Hahn doesn't seem like he is very interested in firing Robin, so Jeff Samardzija is going to have to continue his good work. Speaking of managers being fired, the last time I went to a game the opposing team's manager was fired directly after, so maybe I need to go to this one as a good luck charm for the South Siders. White Sox - Jeffery Alan Samardzija, (4-4, 4.67 ERA) Minnesota Twins - Michael Alan Pelfrey, (5-3, 2.97 ERA) Here we go on your five things: 1- Today's Pitchers -- This isn't just about Alan and Alan, this is about all Major League pitchers who are taking the hill today as a starter, among them are Johnny Cueto, Zack Greinke, David Price, Chris Archer, and Madison Bumgarner, so this could be an exciting day for big fans of pitchers, including me, but that isn't the point, the point is that everyday of the baseball season the best athletes in the world (the only people who come close to rivaling them are classical musicians) are going to try to repeat their delivery 100 times a game, which it takes a great athlete to do, since you have to make your curveball and fastball delivery look the same, keep your velocity late into games, and atop of it all, it is one of the fastest movements of the human body, so if I haven't convinced you yet, you should watch FSN for every game that is broadcast for the next five years and see what Bert Blyleven thinks. 2- 2015 Twins Season -- The Twins have stayed afloat this year, and have a realistic shot at winning the division, but they usually do get off to hot starts, so it still isn't anything amazing, but it would be fun if the Twins could bring back the playoff atmosphere to the Twins Cities. One thing that I would like to point out is that during the 2006 season, on June 23rd, The Twins were 37-35, and were 11 games back of the Detroit Tigers, so if the play from this day on at the same pace the 2006 Twins did, the Royals are going to have to play some #ASGWorthy baseball to keep their lead. 3- Rochester Red Wings -- You might be wondering why we would want to think about a AAA team when the Twins were doing good, but that is the reason we are thinking about them, because help is on the way, whether it is a hitter, such as Danny Santana, Oswaldo Arcia, or Eric Fryer, or a pitcher, like Taylor Rogers, AJ Achter, Ervin Santana, or Alex Meyer. Ervin will likely improve what has been an outstanding rotation so far, but the Twins need an offensive boost, and an improved Arcia or Dan San would certainly be welcomed, but don't forget Eric Fryer, who has been outstanding at AAA so far, and could be a nice bat off the bench come August or September. 4- Trade Deadline -- The deadline is 38 days away, but it isn't too early to start thinking about it. The question is, will the Twins buy at the deadline? If they do their main priority will likely be a bat, but they have options in the minor leagues, so they might decide to do nothing since there are few rental types, and although we could still see the Twins do something surprising, I'm not very impressed with the trade targets out there. 5- Nothing -- Think about this for a minute. http://a.abcnews.com/images/Sports/AP_VENTURA_140814_DG_16x9_992.jpg
  8. I forgot to do an update, but just in case you haven't heard, he got both.
  9. Trevor Hildenberger is still making MWL hitters look foolish, and I expect him to be promoted to Fort Myers soon. 2015 stats to date: 35.1 IP, 0.51 ERA, 11.6 K/9, 1.29 BB/9 (46/5), 0.57 WHIP
  10. Zack Jones' 2015 stats to date: 24 IP, 2.63 ERA, 9.75 K/9, 3.75 BB/9 (26/10), 1.13 WHIP
  11. Gallant pitched a scoreless inning on a rehab assignment for the GCL Twins, he struck out 2 batters.
